    I'm presently reading a science fiction novel where the main character/heroine was injected with "nanites" or "nanobots" that entered her brain and created the neural networks there for understanding and speaking both French and German.

    I was really fascinated by that, and thought THAT would be the way to learn a language.

    The nanites left her body after their jobs were done.
