Thursday Thirteen for My Monday Memories


If I don't look through my notebooks before tossing them into a box, I might miss some good ideas. Short term memory, you know, for my long term memory. So I'm rechecking for my . I haven't written these, but they are percolating with a few notes. Some would be brief and I can't remember the endings; others are too long, or have been partially mentioned in other blog entries. Here's the list. The nice thing about the draft feature is you can start a memory, save it in draft form for the date you want, and come back to it when another idea pops up, then it's practically ready when Monday rolls around.

1) Have I ever told you about jump rope and jacks? [partially finished]

2) Did I ever tell you about my plan to own a book store in the 1980s?

3) Did I ever tell you about my paper routes? [still working on some details]

4) Have I told you about my well-planned, orderly mid-life crisis? [this one I actually remember]

5) Did I ever mention our family vacations when I was a child? [this would be extremely brief]

6) Have I ever told you about our lost and missing beds?

7) I remember my baptism; let me tell you about it.

8) Did I ever tell you about my mother's retreat center and garden?

9) Did I ever tell you about Sauerkraut Day? [partially in another entry]

10) Did I ever tell you about my empty nest syndrome back in the 80s? [it's funny now, but so painful then]

11) Did I ever tell you about my first photograph album?

12) Did I ever tell you about the time my husband brought home a sick kitten and she stayed for 18 years?

13) Did I ever tell you about my mother's dishwasher? [you've probably guessed this one]

    Yea! I'm first. I just posted my TT early too. I have a very busy day away from the house tomorrow and wanted to get a jumpstart on this.

    I will look forward to reading these Monday Memories when you get them written.

    I took a cat to the vet that had been hit by a car."Not my car!" The vet said he would split the cost of repair with me for the cat. My first thought: "Great! I'm buying a broken cat!" He has been with me for over ten years now. The cat not the vet. What a blessing he was and is.

    I can't wait to read these memories. I'm not a fan of sauerkraut....ewwww.

    If you ever open that bookstore, move to Atlanta and I'll work for you.....I would LOVE that.

    I feel the need to respond to your comment you left on my TT post. I was going to let it go, but it's been bugging me for hours now.

    I do sincerely apologise for offending you with the explicit language (or being, as you state, "adjective challenged"). However, you were warned at the beginning of the post that swearing was involved. If you decided to read on, it was at your own peril. Furthermore, I'm sorry that you could not see the humour in the post.

    Tanya--I thought I was being very nice. A few F words I can handle. Afterall, I've got kids. But sometimes it just gets really, really overdone and the humor is lost.

    Ohhhhhh I would LOVE to own a book store! But right now I reallllllly want to know how beds go missing?!? I've misplaced a LOT of things in my life... but I've never misplaced a bed. :)

    I had a paper route once...back in the day when kids did them and walked or rode their bikes. I was the only girl paper person for that paper and I made bank in tips because of that.

    LOL yeah we're all curious about the missing beds. :)

    I love hanging out at bookstores/office supplies stores and buying stuff that sometimes I dont even need. I think the stuff I bought are now enough to open a mini bookstore/office supplies store. LOL.

    I would like to have dialogue with you, but my English is so poor, I have to use dictionaries all the time, and my dialogue speed would be very slow.
    This letter is written with to help of my old friend. She used to be an English teacher in Suure-Jaani and other places and a guide in national parks and Tallinn, maybe she could be of some help in guiding and translating when you come to Estonia one day :-) ; her name is Anne-Malle.Her telephone number is 5032068.
    Recently my second book of verses was published. I feel so sorry, but I am not able to translate any of these poems into English. Anne-Malle wants to translate one of them dedicated to my Mother (who lives in 100 km.s from me, in university-town Tartu)

    you give me the light
    the master of my wings
    and bearer of my pains

    You are my star
    sometimes not noticed
    I can be sure
    you never are cruel

    You are the hope
    the best the highest
    you are the wish
    that we visit you

    Oh Mother, my Mother
    today I cannot
    In my thoughts I give you
    all heaven and earth

    (it was written on Mother`s Day, about a year ago)
    I mostly have rhymes in my verses. Here are no rhymes, no rhythm, they were lost in translation, unfortunately.
