It was probably a word to the wise to the sober drinkers that when they are drinking, they talk too much, so better to tell them when sober because you sure can't tell them to button it when they are drunk.
Most people believe what they are saying is an improvement on what they are hearing and that's why they talk more than they listen. It's a sin, but what can you do? Add a glass of wine or a bottle of beer and there's no stopping them.
Murray sez: That's because before the beer or wine they thought they were right and afterwards, they're convinced they are. I know this is fact cause I just had a glass of wine!
