Barbara Walters has died

So Barbara Walters has died at 93. She was famous for being a first, a pioneer, and for her interviewing skills--she let the famous people talk instead of hogging the limelight. Today I heard that she was most proud of her legacy of paving the way for women in (TV) journalism. That's where I draw the line.

Next comes a very unpopular viewpoint, so you can leave this post and move on.

Women, particularly journalists whether news anchors on TV or "influencers" on Tik Tok have contributed little, at least no more than men who read lines written by others. The women of Fox at least have great legs and shoes. We've let the fake floozy Drag Queens show us how the world sees us. And unfortunately, their audience is often adoring, silly liberal women.

In fact, compared to the women of the 19th century big three (emancipation of slaves, temperance, and civil rights for women) the 20th and 21st century women pale by comparison. I wasn't particularly knowledgeable about our culture or world affairs in high school or college, but I can't think what women have done beginning with 2nd wave feminism (late 60s) that has changed the world for the better. It wasn't exactly the industrial revolution, the polio vaccine or DARPA (think Internet). Nope, sift through any cultural institution of the last 60 years--academe, entertainment, media, science, politics, literature and the arts--and women mostly are known for advocating to kill their own children--the weakest and most helpless humans in the world. I don't see that as a great legacy. The one thing men can't do and women became wannabe men.

As individuals women have gained a lot of freedom since the 60s, but often freedom is the enemy of freedom.

Paula Priesse on the Messiah complex of Barbara Walters

“In one sentence Barbara Walters last night perfectly encapsulated the emotional immaturity of the liberal elite. When CNN’s Piers Morgan asked her why President Obama is “struggling,” a disappointed Walters responded: “We thought that he was going to be - I shouldn't say this at Christmastime, but - the next messiah.”

First of all, what’s up with this “we” business? She’s certainly not talking about all of us. If she means her media cohorts, at least Walters finally admits that they’ve been in the tank for Obama since day one.

Secondly, what possibly made Walters feel this way? Barack Obama was a one-term senator with not a single day of executive experience. Which makes one conclude that it was simply a matter of skin color. If so, Barbara’s cocktail buddies must be the most shallow and insipid individuals on the face of the earth.

Finally, and most importantly, anyone who thinks that any politician, left or right, will be America’s next “messiah” is mentally ill. The majority in this country, Ms. Walters, still believe that there is, and will forever be, only one true “Messiah.” “

It’s an ugly view

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is being forced off the liberal VIEW according to US Magazine, because her Conservative values no longer mesh with the show's audience. I’m not surprised.  I’ve only seen it occasionally, usually in the summer (we don’t have cable at our lake home), and find the hostile, ugly liberals very frustrating to watch.  Elisabeth is always outgunned, and the whole show brings shame on women.

The Fox channel on cable manages to have strong, capable liberals on its panels that often are talked off their stools with their comments, but they don’t get fired.  They even a PBS liberal, Juan Williams,  as a regular when he was fired for his comments about being afraid of a group of Muslims on a plane.  But the MSM can’t let their liberal audience ever hear a view point that differs from the template.

ABC did hold seats for the View ladies on Amtrak

Scott Baker at Breitbart TV did some investigating to check on the "outrage" because Barbara Walters and Whoopee Goldberg called Glenn Beck a sack of Dog Poop on national television.

Glenn Beck, his wife and friends, took Amtrak to the Correspondents Dinner in Washington, D.C. When they boarded they found a conference table on the train and were told those seats are reserved. It turns out Walters and Goldberg of the View got on and took the table, and Glenn joked about it on his radio show--I heard him. And although I almost never watch the View, I must have had it on at the cottage the day he was their guest victim, and heard these women literally boil him in oil for lying. No Salem witch trial could have been more vicious. Well, (HT Maggie's Notebook) they were the ones lying, and you can follow the story of the lies and hilarity at Breitbart TV about the 7 minute View Ambush. Although, it's quite possible that the ladies of the View have been celebrities for so long that they don’t realize that not everyone gets the kind of treatment they received on Amtrak. And they took 7 minutes of their show to call Glenn a liar. But he didn’t lie--they did. Do you suppose they will ever apologize? Of course not. It really isn’t about Glenn Beck, but about the Media being able to lie about conservatives--who's to stop them?

Scott's original show which he refers to in the interview with Beck.

In 2003 we rode the Southwest Chief from Chicago to LA, stopping several days in Flagstaff to visit the Grand Canyon.

Barbara Walters and Miley Cyrus

Show and tell. More than we needed to know. They didn't need the money, or the fame. I guess it's a mystery why some women do this.
