My solution to the immigration problem

Here's my solution.

1. Issue more green cards for essential skills and abilities,
2. tighten up removal of those who overstay--like the tech industry.
3. Make those H-1B visas stiffer so Google, FB and Yahoo will hire more American graduates.
4. Enlarge the legal immigration quota and reduce the barriers and costs.
5. Obey the IRCA law--the one Congress passed and then ignored.
6. Take in more Christian refugees. More Christians have been martyred for their faith than any time since the first-second century.
7. Remove incentives to disobey the law.
8. Limit chain migration to immediate family with careful vetting.
9. The Democrats voted for a fence. Let's get on with it. And plug the tunnels, hire more guards, and use more drones.

The cap on H-1B hasn't changed--just the enforcement--or fear that Trump will follow laws. Obama and tech giants were super cozy and in love. He's going to work for Netflix. Browsing the internet you see some of our H-1Bs are going to Canada rather than overstay and be illegals in the U.S. Canada is 98% white and 90% open space where no one lives. Help them populate and diversify.

Local channels promote fake news

Let your local news channels hear from you when they repeat the fake news script "Muslim ban" or "immigration ban." It's 7 countries out of 50 (and that number should raise some questions--most used to be Christian countries). It dates to 2015 when President Obama recognized the danger of trying to vet people from governments with terrorist ties (and he would have NEVER used the word Muslim). I've written to Channel 10, WBNS. They not only misuse this term, they misuse their audience with anti-administration stories.

The big boys that bring in super smart and well educated workers on legal visas are getting nervous. They must make us think the worst. Google. Amazon. AMA. Academe. They are bringing in foreign workers in every imaginable category--while American graduates struggle to pay off their college loans working as secretaries and copy editors. I'd be shocked if Google is bringing in any Somalis or Yemenis except to work in the kitchen to feed their millennial staffers organic, vegan salads. I think large universities like Ohio State would close tomorrow if their supply of foreign students all getting a full ride from their governments back home, would have their visas questioned.  This is BIG money.

http://fortune.com/2017/02/09/h1-b-silicon-valley-tech

These companies don't import steel or light bulbs or bicycles to compete with American factories, they import workers to compete with American workers. So what happens when a labor field is flooded? Wages stay flat--STEM workers' wages haven't progressed much since 2000, according to Fortune Magazine. But it probably looks pretty good to someone from India. So how is an American college grad to pay off that $30,000 debt if Silicon Valley is filled with workers from Asia and India here on H1-B visas? The college slots are also filled with foreign workers. I don't think these guys at Google and FB worry about Muslim terrorists, but they probably stay awake at night thinking about a level playing field for American IT workers. So let's call it an "immigration ban."

Fashion models of distinguished merit

The things you learn by reading government gobble-de-gook for 2008.
"Established by the Immigration Act of 1990 (IMMACT 90), the H-1B nonimmigrant visa category allows U.S. employers to augment the existing labor force with highly skilled temporary workers. H-1B workers are admitted to the United States for an initial period of three years, which may be extended for an additional three years and, in some cases, beyond, if an a/s application is pending.

An H-1B nonimmigrant (with the exception of certain fashion models) must have a bachelor’s degree or higher (or equivalent) in the specific specialty. The H-1B visa program is used by some U.S. employers to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise in a specialized field and a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. Typical H-1B occupations include architects, engineers, computer programmers, accountants, doctors and college professors. The H-1B visa program also includes certain fashion models of distinguished merit and ability and up to 100 persons who will performing services of an exceptional nature in connection with Department of Defense (DOD) research and development projects or coproduction projects. The current annual cap on the H-1B category is 65,000. Not all H-1B nonimmigrants are subject to this annual cap."
