It's not what you think

Jobs? Border Security? North Korea? Graduation rates? Student loan debt? Zilch. Nada. Just monuments and flags, and next it will be WWII monuments and the U.S. stars and stripes. If you thought this was about slavery or the Confederacy, wake up.

Yet so many are naïve.  How many people were subjected to vague references to bigotry or "the last 7 months" with a big sigh in today's Sunday services? The Democrats are leaderless and Republicans spineless.
“I want to talk to you about the manufactured moral crisis in this country right now, because that’s truly what’s going on,” said Buck. “We’re in the midst of a moral panic. A manufactured moral crisis and while a lot of us could just ignore it, it will have ramifications. It should be met on the battlefield of ideas and blown to smithereens.”

“This is very dangerous stuff, he added. “This notion that we have to go back and erase, eliminate, re-write, pave-over, whatever it may be, different parts of history has got to stop. It feels incredibly soviet –because the soviets did exactly this kind of thing. It feels very totalitarian –because totalitarian regimes are quite concerned with the past as a means of controlling the future.”

The party of NO and the party of KNOW

The party of NO. That would be politicians and voters who support:
No life for those children who aren't perfect or wanted; or who are inconveniently conceived; or who have Downs Syndrome; or who are the wrong sex.

No life for the elders or parents who have outlived their usefulness to society and are gravely ill.

No freedom of speech except their own.

No freedom of religion except their own.

    No need for the Constitution.

No need for trust or honesty, masquerading as moderates to get votes.

    No need for free markets.

    No need for capitalism.

No need for investment in business.

No need for private sector growth to employ more people.

No need to think about unintended consequences.

    No need for border control.

No need for military courts for terrorists.

No respect for women politicians who didn't ride into town on their husband/father's coattails.

    No understanding of history.

No right to decide how to use your own wealth.

No human of greater value and worth than any animal.

No school choice except for their kids.
The party of KNOW, on the other hand, is just about any other party--conservative, libertarian, Republican, Populist, Tea Party--who KNOWs what's going on in Washington, DC and will support candidates and legislation with their values.

Obama less popular than Bush

The leftists among us are blaming everyone but themselves for the Obama Slide. They can't believe the average voter actually understands that health care bill, or that we care about the trillions he's spending, or that we don't approve of him destroying business or that we know cap and tax is a huge hoax to enrich the same people and pols who already own the energy supply.

In March, 50 days after taking office and before the big health care debate, Obama’s poll numbers were falling, primarily because of his handling of the economy.

“Overall, Rasmussen Reports shows a 56%-43% approval, with a third strongly disapproving of the president's performance. This is a substantial degree of polarization so early in the administration. Mr. Obama has lost virtually all of his Republican support and a good part of his Independent support, and the trend is decidedly negative.” via WSJ

And then, end of July, 6 months into his term, despite his stumbling defense of Obamacare:

“30 percent of the nation's voters "strongly approve" of Mr. Obama's job performance, according to a survey released Monday by the Rasmussen polling organization. The poll showed that 40 percent "strongly disapprove" of the president's performance, marking the first time the disparity has reached double digits.”

Now at 7 months, it’s about 37% approval for Obama--depending on the topic and pollster.

George W. Bush was in office 37 months with an unpopular war before he fell to the Obama historically low level according to Gallup.

“President Barack Obama's approval ratings, once seen as historically high, could soon be among the worst early poll numbers for a modern American president.
He has already, however, outlasted the brief honeymoon of the last Democratic president, Bill Clinton.

The Gallup Organization — whose polls show Obama at just 50 percent approval rating less than eight months into his first term — says only two modern presidents, Gerald Ford and Bill Clinton, saw their approval ratings drop below 50 percent by this time in their presidencies. Ronald Reagan is the next in line, with his numbers dipping after 10 months, while Jimmy Carter retained positive approval numbers for more than a year.” via Politico

The Junior Senator from Illinois on the issues

was elected on 11/02/2004, and began service in 2005. He immediately began to run for President. I looked at Project Vote Smart I browsed through a few topics that interest me--abortion, agriculture, commerce, environmentalism, but you may want to check others.

Prohibiting the Funds in S 1200 from Being Used for Abortions--Senator Obama did not vote. I think he does this a lot--sort of his political footprint--tries to make it small. However,
NARAL, Planned Parenthood, National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association give him a score of 100. National Right to Life Committee and Illinois Federation for Right to Life give him a zero.
Americans for Tax Reform which believes in a system in which taxes are simpler, fairer, flatter, more visible, and lower gave him a zero in 2005 and a 5-15 in 2007 as he was moving closer to his goal of being the party’s choice (they gave McCain a 70). Citizens for Tax Justice which wants higher taxes for the wealthy and the closing of corporate loop holes, gave him 100 (they gave McCain a 50). National Taxpayers Union, which "Seeks to reduce government spending, cut taxes, and protect the rights of taxpayers." gave him an F, or a 6 (gave McCain a 78).

National Association of Government Contractors gave him a score of 100 (McCain a zero) as did the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (this endorsement begs for a comment about Chicago type justice, doesn’t it?) which gave McCain a 33. U.S. Chamber of Commerce which promotes human progress through an economic, political and social system based on individual freedom, incentive, initiative, opportunity, and responsibility gave him a 33 and McCain a 100.

The Arab and Iranian interest groups are very savvy; they gave both candidates almost identical scores--very high. The NAACP have Obama 100 and McCain a 5--they will just never forgive him for not voting for the day off for MLK day, no matter how much he grovels.

Club for Growth gives Obama a 33 and McCain a 100; Americans for Prosperity give Obama 42.9 and McCain 100; John Birch Index gives Obama 18, McCain a 38. American Wind Energy Association and League of Conservation Voters give Obama 100 and American Land Rights gives him an 11.

I realize McCain is older, more experienced and has been reelected often, however, when the two pages (bio/resume) are compared side by side, the differences are stunning. The item on BO's very short resume you need to notice is The Woods Fund of Chicago, which sort of bundles all the funding and scary friends together in a neat package.

Dear Carly

Thank you for your "Dear Friend" Victory 2008 letter dated simply "Tuesday Morning." Nice, personal touch.

I filled out your CRITICAL ISSUES SURVEY, although I hate those kind of "when did you stop beating your spouse" questions whether done by Republicans, Democrats or Libertarians. However, I didn't enclose any money, the purpose behind the survey (when a politician asks for my opinion, I know the next question will be about money). We gave during the primaries--which were not apparently decided by conservatives, but by RINOS and Democrats in cahoots with the media. Right now we have a RINO/Democrat, a Socialist, and a Marxist (and now a Libertarian who will drain votes from both the final 2 candidates) running for the White House. Your survey did indicate that McCain has learned to mouth the global alarmist rhetoric, and that he is ignoring the serious border security problems funneling drugs, disease and dysfunctional racists into our country. When you send out some literature explaining how he will help our energy situation by using the vast resources we already have, and how he'll respect the sovereignty of the nation, issues important to conservatives, maybe I'll open my wallet.
