Obama's failed jobs plan is being blamed on Republicans

President Barack Obama likes to claim Republicans are holding up his "jobs plan" (aka campaign for a 2nd term, or Stimulus, Jr.), but the Democrat controlled Senate is holding up the House jobs plan, a common-sense, bipartisan jobs bill known as "Plan for America’s Job Creators."

Government doesn't create jobs--businesses do. Americans do. This plan was unveiled over 6 months ago, and the President has ignored it, and the Senate won't pass it. Instead, they've launched more class warfare (fits well with how they are doing in other countries) by claiming if we just taxed the richest 1% more, we could put people back to work. This Job Creators plan involves fixing the tax code and reducing regulatory burdens. It suggests new trade agreements and new markets for American products. It promotes domestic production of energy and paying down our debt. What does the president offer? More campaigning, more blaming and more spending. The President continues to campaign, knowing his plan won't pass (not even his own party likes it) and can't work, just so he can blame Republicans. For bi-partisan efforts to restore the economy, look to the plans put out by the Republicans, not a failed President and Senate.

One job, created or saved--$800,000

I was browsing the government ARRA "transparency" site for the first stimulus (looked like it had been months since it was updated), and I came across a place in Georgia, Huston County, I believe, where upgrades to a public housing project TJ Calhoun was to get $800,000. Under jobs created or saved category, the word "one." But nothing had been done, so I guess that's a moot point. Meanwhile, on the radio, I can hear the familiar voice castigating Republicans for wanting people to stay unemployed. ARRA money went to unions and to government agencies. ARRA Junior won't be any different.

Googling the new Obama jobs bill

Although Obama wants the current jobs bill passed before anyone gets a chance to read it, I can't find any articles analyzing it in depth except his jobs bills from other years. No matter how I construct the search strategy, this is the same ol' same ol'. More taxes on the "rich" and more tax breaks for the people whose taxes he just increased (the job creators). All these proposals have been turned down in the past, and now he's making it a campaign swing through all the states so he can hammer Republicans. The rich are those making $200,000 or $250,000 as a family. And that means small businesses. It costs about $80,000 for a business to add a $40,000 employee--so if his taxes are increased, and he then gets a $2,000 tax break for hiring someone (for a year), how would that be an incentive?

This is about all I found--and tell me if this isn't a way to drive us into a Depression but blame it on Republicans for balking:

1) Remove itemized tax deductions (mortgages and charitable deductions) and some exemptions for people earning over $200,000 a year and families which take in $250,000 (this is a way to slow job creation by small businesses)


2) tax carried interest earned by hedge fund managers as ordinary income rather than as capital gains

3) take away special preferences enjoyed by oil and gas firms (but give them to “green energy developers which continue to fail)

4) close tax loopholes enjoyed by corporate jet owners (let them drive buses made in Canada) but what will that do other than hurt that industry like when they increased taxes on luxury yachts.

This won't fill the gap, so then he'll go after your mortgage deduction and your charitable deduction.

A letter to Senator Brown

Murray received a funds appeal from Senator Scott Brown. So did I. I think I scribbled across mine and mailed it back, something to the effect that I wasn't pleased with his first vote, but I'd wait and see. Murray actually sent him a letter which he's allowing me to reprint here (under U.S. copyright law, he owns the content, not Sen. Brown)

Senator Brown:

I received your letter today thanking me for my contribution to your successful victory in the Massachusetts Senate race. You need to understand that my contribution, among thousands of others, was for a specific purpose. Thankfully, that purpose was realized.

"We The People" need your help to not only stop Obamacare but to stop the recklessness that's taking place every day with our legislators. This means Obamanomics needs to be stopped in its tracks. As I write, Obama is readying himself to sign the just passed $18 billion stimulus/jobs/hire bill while he has $500 billion of the stimulus left yet to spend. You know. . . the billions that we needed quickly a year ago for "shovel ready" jobs. You voted for the stimulus/jobs/hire bill while it was $15 billion and watched it grow to $18 billion practically overnight. I guess that's strike one on you!

Anyway, if you help the taxpayers of this country during your next year by stopping the spending frenzy, government's takeover of anything else, cap & trade and raising taxes, then I'll consider helping you extend your political career along with many of the other taxpayers. I'll be holding on to your request for donations until then.

Please help this great country survive.
