Brentwood Baptist Church of Middle Tennessee

Recently I was researching a topic in Isaiah 35 and came across a sermon from The Church at Station Hill, so I looked up the pastor and church affiliation. This is an AI generated description

"Brentwood Baptist Church is a multi-site, multicultural congregation located in Middle Tennessee, with its central campus in Brentwood, TN. Founded in 1968 as a mission of Woodmont Baptist and formally organized in 1969, the church has grown significantly under the leadership of founding pastor Dr. Charles Treadway, Bill Wilson, and later Mike Glenn.

As of 2026, the church is led by Senior Pastor Dr. Jay Strother, who assumed leadership in October 2023. The church operates under a multi-campus model, serving the greater Nashville area through nine regional campuses:
Brentwood (Central Campus) – Brentwood, TN
The Church at Station Hill – Spring Hill/Thompson’s Station, TN (launched 2010)
The Church at Avenue South – Nashville, TN (launched 2014)
The Church at West Franklin – Franklin, TN (launched 2014 via merger)
The Church at Woodbine – Nashville, TN (launched 2014 via merger)
The Church at Lockeland Springs – Nashville, TN (launched 2016 via merger)
The Church at Nolensville – Nolensville, TN (launched 2018)
The Church at Harpeth Heights – Pasquo/Fairview, TN (launched 2018 via merger)
The Church at West End – Columbia, TN (launched 2023)
In addition to its regional campuses, Brentwood Baptist Church includes specialized multicultural ministries such as the Brentwood Baptist Deaf Church, the Brentwood Baptist Chinese Church, and the Brentwood Baptist Hispanic Ministry. The church’s mission is to connect people to Jesus Christ through worship, discipleship, and service, both locally and globally."

When I looked a little further, I see lots of people are moving there from Seattle, LA, Chicago--probably trying to get better real estate deals and more conservative values, but the longtime residents of Tennessee should be careful--they may bring the west coast blue state gulag values with them. Shirt-tail relatives of ours from Tustin, CA, moved to TN about 2 years ago and love it, but left all the children and grandchildren back in California.  We have friends in Columbus, who would like to move there to be near their children, but say they can't afford it.

And back to Isaiah 35, the part I was identifying with was the feeble hands and weak knees.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Moms and Dads, nieces and nephews, grandmothers and grandfathers, daughters and sons, masters and mistresses, he and she, him and her, guys and dolls, chicks and dudes,

Ours may be the last generation who will be allowed to notice, say, write or shout that men and women are different and those differences matter. Whether we believe we were created by God or by biological evolution, we know it wasn’t by Marxism, a failed 19th century political ideology that promotes victimhood and resulted in the deaths of 100 million.  If you have a daughter or granddaughter who is a talented athlete, she will no longer be able to compete for honors and scholarships as she is forced to shower with and compete against the least talented men with testosterone, skeletal and muscular advantages instead of the best prepared and hard-working women.  Chest feeders and birthing people are the most recent terms to demean women with words.  Forget Ho and Slut and Babe.  The records with my primary physician say my sex is “unknown.” Birth records of new babies now say “assigned.”

A bill to protect women athletes has been passed in the House which will be defeated in the Senate because there is a powerful movement to destroy women. This movement is promoted by the White House.  When 6 people, 3 adults and 3 children, were murdered in a Nashville Christian school by a woman ill enough to kill 9 year olds to announce she was a man thus destroying her real protective nature, did our White House respond with sympathy, grief and horror?  No. That very week in March the White House announced solidarity with a Trans Day of protest. To this day, the killer’s manifesto hasn’t been released,  protecting the transagenda and the party that promotes it.

The Nashville school killings

At least the killer wasn't a woman. "Audrey Hale, 28, who police said was a transgender woman, had conducted surveillance and prepared for the attack with detailed maps, officials said. Police said the shooter had a manifesto, the contents of which were not released." (NBC)  I actually said that when I first saw on the news that the shooter was a woman. It just doesn't fit what we know about these crazies who shoot at little kids.

As soon as I saw it was Nashville, I remembered the son of my friend is a chaplain at a private Christian school there, so I looked him up, and that was the name of his school, Covenant.  Then I checked his Facebook page, and he had noted, "I am safe, please pray."  He's the same age as our daughter and used to be a member of our church.

Here's a great line

Randall Bloomquist of WGST, Atlanta, reviews Graig Havighust's book, "Air Castle of the South," (U. of I. Press) in today's WSJ. It's about the rise and fall of WSM, an AM station in Nashville, which was created by National Life and Accident Insurance Company in 1925 to sell insurance to rural folk and ended up creating and spreading country music and the Nashville sound. I'll probably never read the book, but I loved this line:
"As history it is engaging but less than definitive. . . demanding that WSM [now owned by Gaylord Entertainment] live or die by the media economy's new rules feels a bit like asking your grandmother to work at Burger King to make ends meet."
