Now they've changed their tune

When Obama was mobbed by adoring fans in 2008, many bussed in by ACORN and out of stater party volunteers, the Democrats were just thrilled. The media swooned. Ah. Grass roots. The little guy was finally speaking up. Wonderful ground swell of support. Oooo. Ahhhh. It just felt so good to assauge the guilt.

A year later. The American people are finding out that who you hang with is who you are. Ayers. Wright. It's the Alinsky Baedeker 2.0.

Now when people turn out to protest his health care plan, and shout down their lily livered congressional representatives, they are "mobs", and the town hall is the town "hell." They are "right-wing extremists" sent by the Republican party. They are "birthers" and racists. But many voted for him! They are finding out that what he said about destroying our health care system when he was an Illinois senator is what he still believes. These are people who seem to have actually read HR 3200! They don't like it one bit. You start denying some boomer his hip replacement because of his life expectancy or tell him to run it past a committee in Washington and he just might hit you with his cane. Or run you down with her golf cart.

Isn't it just amazing how the worm turns?

So shouting down representatives at a town hall is a good thing for America?

I thought the purpose of a town hall was to discuss the issues with your your congress person--especially when discussing such an important issue that absolutely has to be fixed somehow, and fixed now.

How can you equate this kind of disruption with cheering at a campaign rally?

What would you say if this was antiwar protesters bussed in to disrupt town halls in the runup to the war in Iraq? I'm guessing that these disruptions would seem to be traitorous to you, right?

See the double standard?

Where did I say it's a good idea to shout down a speaker? Crowds can be brought in for Obama. Marxist college students shout down conservatives or threaten them. War protestors distrupted many Bush events. Librarians walked out on Laura Bush at ALA. You guys have the double standard. The Obama "townhalls" are staged with carefully edited questions and laudatory press coverage. These voters just happen to be concerned about their own lives so they are demonized. The peaceful tea parties with respectful demonstrations were either buried on the last page or covered as "Republican" events.

Murray sez:
Hey Anon, I suppose you think calling your constituents extremists, racists or mobs is OK huh? When their constituents demonstrate calmly like with their Tea Parties....they get ignored so what do you suggest they do to get their point across? I mean, gee whiz their not happy with our legislators.

I heard a tape today of Obama challenging his followers (during the election) to "get in their face". Advice is not always the same for everyone. I wish I had time or energy to attend one of those town halls. My voice is such that I would be heard, if not admired.
