Mitt’s 2012 campaign, assessment from a friend

Those of us who supported Mitt Romney in 2012 are terribly disappointed in his bizarre behavior before he’s even sworn in as a Senator.  We didn’t need one more RINO Never Trumper in DC.

“Mitt’s campaign was lackluster and lacked sending a message that enticed people.  We went to one of his rallies here and it was pretty much boring—verbatim of all talks he did over and over.  And I was disappointed that there was no explanation why conservatism is priceless.  Now I know.  He’s mostly Democrat.  Flakey.  The two of them need to have head adjustments.  Mitt busy being virtuous.  Sometimes the country needs bombastic.  Sorry Mitt.  You don’t get it.  Waiting to see what he intends to accomplish by his mere appearance in the Washington fray.  You got it.  I’m irritated.  I hope he learns something of value in his journey. “

Blogging may be light

I've apparently picked up another computer infection--not sure why my MacAfee and firewall stuff aren't working. Gary says you can get them between updates of the virus protection. It's really irritating. Wicked people in the world. So I'm in the kitchen at the laptop which prefers to try to connect to my neighbor next door instead of my office in the next room! Anyway. . . thoughts along the way. . .

Although it was totally narcissistic, Obama's comment that the 2012 vote will be about him and his policies not the other candidate is something I agree with. He currently loses against any unnamed person of any party. Still, "this is all about me all the time" attitude irks me. I saw something at Tammy Bruce about a campaign ad, but didn't see a link.

His whining over the debt ceiling is so irritating. Not even Richard Nixon, old Tricky Dick, was this annoying.

And we think Obama had too little experience to be a president? Look at poor Syria. "Until he became president, Bashar al-Assad was not greatly involved in politics; his only public role was head of the Syrian Computer Society, which introduced the Internet to Syria in 2001." [Wikipedia] I think Assad is an ophthalmologist by training, and his wife was born in the UK.

The House approved the Republican "Cut, Cap, and Balance" deficit plan to end the federal government's cycle of borrow and spend, borrow and spend. This wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the Tea Parties. Let's see if they can stop the stampeding elephants and RINOs from crushing the plan. Republicans helped create this debt.

Tom Zawistowski of the Portage County (Ohio) Tea Party reminds Boehner, "Most in Washington are representing the people who will get the money when they raise the debt ceiling but few are representing the people who will be on the hook to pay another $2 trillion in debt plus interest. We expect the conservatives we helped elect to represent us, the taxpayer." Boehner's another Nancy Pelosi type, an old timey wheeler and dealer, except he weeps and she didn't. Not sure these new guys have the patience for that.

Our oppresive heat continues. I walked early this morning and was still looking for shade at 7:20. My daughter, who is at the lake house, says the heat index there is 120. We thought that sounded a bit high, but I suspect it's for Toledo, 50 miles to the west, which is always hotter than Lakeside since it isn't on the Lake. But at least they did have some rain up there. We almost lost our impatiens during Methodist conference, but they've come back nicely with daily watering.

The GIVE Act. Does it violate the 13th amendment?

The bill, HR 1388: The Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act otherwise known as the "GIVE Act," has already passed. Here’s the roll who voted for it.



Did Congress read this bill? What was missing in VISTA, AmeriCorps, Peace Corp, Foster Grandparents, and the bazillion of local opportunities, funded by government, non-profits and churches? Is there an area not already covered by Sertoma, or American Legion, or the Lung Association, or Rotary or AARP? I never had the feeling that Points of Light was mandatory, did you? And didn't Democrats ridicule Bush I or is that why--because he didn't make it mandatory?

Did we really need another massive stack of federal dollars bundled in acres of paper co-opting volunteerism? Surely, they can't call this a "stimulus." Something like $22,000 per volunteer--but then, it takes a bunch of bureaucrats to run a program like this. And what in the world is a "social entrepreneur?" More people to join the unions that get out the Obama vote. More people to look to Obama has their savior in the White House. It makes them that much more dependent on the government.

The bill, promoted by the Obama administration as a means of “encouraging America's youth to participate in voluntary community service,” (if you read it, you’ll see it goes far beyond “encouraging,” that it opens the door to conscription) has received little scrutiny from Congress or the public. It provides funding for Obama’s favorite leftist organizations, especially ACORN, but starves out the churches that have traditionally been vehicles for volunteerism--in fact, the almost 50 year old Peace Corps was modeled after what the Mennonites, Brethren and Quakers did after WWII.

Did the RINOs read this bill before they voted for it? Time to call them home. Next time the Republican Party head guy sends out that envelope pleading for money, ask about the voting records of the RINOs. Senator Voinovich voted Yay, as usual; when anything wasteful or socialist comes along, he's all for it.

So the Senate will allow funding to ACORN, but they won't allow any religious expression in the "youth brigades?" Gateway Pundit And to think we spent American lives and money to free the women of Afghanistan from the fundamentalist Taliban, only to conscript our own.

What part of NO amnesty do they not understand

Couldn't have said it better myself, although I think I did. Read John Lillpop who writes:

In short, we the people are:

FED UP with plans to merge the United States into a North American alliance with Canada and Mexico. Such a plan would destroy American sovereignty and is totally unacceptable.

FED UP with the refusal of the federal government to secure our borders at time of war.

FED UP when armed Mexicans illegally cross our borders and assault Americans, yet our government takes no action, and refuses to even protest.

FED UP when Americans defending the U.S. from drug smuggling illegal aliens are sent to federal prison, while invading criminals are to be forgiven via amnesty for violating our borders and laws.

FED UP with the fact that upwards of 38 million illegal aliens are currently in America, and cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars every year. . .[includes many other points]

Finally, Mr. President and members of the U.S. Congress, we the people are FED UP with those who consistently work on behalf of illegal aliens and the state of Mexico, and against the interests of the American people!

Please do not underestimate the dissatisfaction and rage swelling in the hearts of patriotic Americans on this vital issue.
