Anti-slavery collection at Oberlin

"It is proposed to make in the college library an anti-slavery collection, complete as possible, for the future historian, in which shall be gathered every book, every pamphlet, every report, every tract, every newspaper, and every private letter on the subject. For such a collection nothing is unimportant. Scattered here and there these documents are all but worthless, but gathered in one collection they would be priceless." Rev. Telling black women to abort their future in the name of health and liberation

New ways to oppress blacks. Tell them that aborting their children is reproductive justice and liberation. And feature it during Black History month. I wonder how much these women earn for taking their show on the road. They've been paid speakers as "Christians" for years. More black babies are legally killed in 4 days than 80 years of lynching. Why isn't it called "systemic racism?"

Booker on Reparations: “Since slavery in this country, we have had overt policies fueled by white supremacy and racism that have oppressed African-Americans economically for generations,” Booker said in a statement on Monday, according to Fox News. “Many of our bedrock domestic policies that have ushered millions of Americans into the middle class have systematically excluded blacks through practices like GI Bill discrimination and redlining.”

Someone needs to remind Booker that these policies were put in place by his party, Democrats, who for decades attempted to block Republicans' civil rights legislation. Democrats were behind Jim Crow, the KKK, terrorism by lynching, separate but equal (which some blacks are now bringing back), overt discrimination based on color, quota system in college enrollment, open borders to allow competition for jobs, voter fraud with illegals crossing out their voting rights, and now systematic killing of generations of black babies beginning in the 1970s. Even the minimum wage was put in place to keep blacks from under cutting whites in a tight labor market. Clever guys, those Dems. They don't teach these things during Black History Month. Or that free blacks owned slaves at a higher rate than whites in the south.

Black History Month begins today

Sunday, February 1st. February is Black History Month, a time to honor the many contributions to our nation's history made by people of African descent. Started as a special week in 1926 by historian Carter G. Woodson, the observance is now a full month of activities across the country. African-Americans, in counting single race or in combination with others, number over 44 million in the U.S. By 2060, this figure is projected to reach nearly 77.5 million — about 18.4 percent of the country's entire population. Although New York has the largest number of blacks of any state at 3.7 million, Washington, D.C., has the highest percentage at over 52 percent. Cook County, Illinois, effectively Chicago, had the largest black population of any county in 2012, numbering 1.3 million. Follow-up on Thursday Thirteen—Black History

One of the Thursday Thirteen I wrote this week was the percentage of European heritage among American blacks.  The assumption I’d had (or read) was that the owner/master was the ancestor of mixed race African Americans.  Apparently not.  There’s an interesting photo archive available on the internet providing a photo genealogy, and a number of the families were descended from a black man and white woman, the man being a free black or a freed slave and a white servant. In that case, I’m assuming the children of the marriage or relationship were free born blacks (over 13% of the African American population by 1830).

“The Gowen family descend from Michael Gowen a "negro" servant who was free in Virginia in 1657.”

The Becketts are descendants of a  “Virginia slave named Peter Beckett who married a white servant woman named Sarah Dawson in 1680.”

“The Maclin family were free African American members of Bruton Parish, James City County in the 1740s and owned land in Wake County in the eighteenth century.”

“The Okey family was free in Delaware about 1680 and owned land in Granville County in the eighteenth century.”

“There were also Granville County marriages between Pettifords and Durhams in 1813 and 1822. The Durhams were free in Delaware about 1690.”  There is a photo of  Narcissa Pettiford Rattley, a white woman (1829-1914) and her black husband, Jesse Rattley whose children married Durhams.

“The Leviner family descends from Jean Lovina, a Norfolk County slave, whose master, Major John Nichols, freed her children, John and Sarah, and left them 350 acres of land in Norfolk County, Virginia in 1697.”

Alfred Burdine “was probably related to David Burdine who was a "free colored" head of a Pendleton District, South Carolina household with one slave in 1820.” (i.e., he was a free black who owned a slave)

“The Banks family descends from Elizabeth Banks, a white servant, who had a child by a slave in York County, Virginia in 1683, and the Hammond family descends from Margaret Hammond, a white servant, who had a child by slave in Northampton County, Virginia in 1689.”

“The Dungey family descends from Frances Dungey, a servant woman who had mixed-race children in Brunswick County, Virginia, in the 1720s.”

How’s your black history?

After they took control of the Presidency (Grover Cleveland) and Congress in 1892, Democrats had complete control of the government for the first time since the Civil War.  They passed the Repeal Act of 1894 that overturned civil rights legislation passed by the Republicans during the previous 25 years, including the Civil Rights Acts of 1866 and 1875. But even before the Civil War in the 1830s John Quincy Adams (member of several different parties which morphed into Republican) was a strong abolitionist, and he was consistently opposed by Democrats.

Jim Crow and the KKK were created by the Democrat Party, both north and south.  It took Republicans nearly six decades to finally  achieve passage of civil rights legislation in the 1950’s and 1960’s. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and voting rights act of 1965 were Republican sponsored bills and only got passed with the help of Republicans because so many Democrats voted against them. Democrats also opposed the 1972 Equal Opportunity Act. These were necessary to enforce the amendments passed by Republicans after the Civil War. And it was President Nixon who pushed for affirmative action laws and time table.

You didn't get the truth in your American history classes about black history. Now Democrats are using entitlements, scare tactics and empty slogans to keep blacks in their places.

Martin Luther and his namesake

Martin Luther perhaps never saw an elephant, but he was very familiar with donkeys. He said that the old Adam is "the obstinate donkey, fixing for a fight," against whom the new man wages "constant battle."

When Michael King, Sr. a Baptist minister changed his name to Martin Luther King after the great reformer, his son Michael Jr. also changed his name and became Martin Luther King, Jr. They were Republicans. His friends and family continued to call him Mike.

Democrats were so oppressive to blacks in the South, using lynching to terrorize, they instituted the "Jim Crow" laws and resegregated the schools. In order to vote at all, many blacks became Republicans. The push for civil rights was done by the Republican party in the 40s and 50s, and was fought tooth and nail by the likes of powerful Democrats like Lyndon Johnson, LBJ. But when it became an opportunity to put them under the control of government, LBJ changed his tune with the Civil Rights Act, a Republican cause, and his "War on Poverty."

This lesson on black history will probably not be taught in the public schools this month.
