I was reading the USDA page about waste (Americans waste an obscene amount of food, much of which I’m convinced is because of government regulations about safety, labeling, quality, etc.) http://www.usda.gov/oce/foodwaste/# So as I was browsing, I saw there was a blog. I’m a blogger, so I clicked and found out it was written by a 15 year old who had gone to work with her dad, Director of the USDA Climate Change Program Office in Washington, D.C. —several states away in Michigan, since he was a government employee attending a conference with people (farmers, producers, processors) who also had flown in to Michigan from around the country slurping up fuel and leaving a huge carbon footprint in the process. http://blogs.usda.gov/2015/04/28/on-bring-your-daughter-to-work-day-a-local-student-learns-about-climate-change/

She’s been brainwashed about Earth Day and Climate Change (it’s her father’s livelihood), but what I noticed was how much money was being wasted for show. I attended many conferences in my professional life, and made wonderful friends, some still on Facebook with me, but they are opportunities for cities and hotels and invited speakers to make money and the people in the profession to add to their resume for Promotion and Tenure.

So here’s the comment I left on the blog.

I didn't know "Take your daughter to work day" was still in place. But the "cha-ching" of the cost of doing this, travel, hotel, food, conference facilities, flying people around the country to attend a conference that could easily have been done via Skype or e-mail or just reading the literature is the first thing that jumped out at me. And then the really big one: "incentives," aka my tax money. And carbon credits--what a scam. All for Earth Day, to honor Rachel Carson who killed more black children than the cross Atlantic slave trade after she got DDT off the market before there were replacements.

What has been accomplished at Hopenchangen?

First, and most importantly, it's another stage for our President who holds the record for a president spending the most time outside the country. I think because he really dislikes America.

Second, an opportunity for Kleptocracies to rattle their sabres.


Third, an excuse to burn fossil fuel and make huge carbon footprints before they outlaw jets, automobiles, and speaking out, all of which emit huge amounts of CO2.

Fourth, a fun time for marxist/socialist/progressive protesters, who all thought their grandparents had all the fun in the 1960s and a free night in jail.

Fifth, Hugo Chavez got a megaphone for Karl Marx.

Sixth, Glenn Beck got to joke about how to pronounce Copenhagen, driving Media Matters crazy because those people are humorless.

Seventh, yet another pulpit for the non-debater, Al "The science is settled" Gore.

Eighth, chance for greenies to attack a polar bear.



Ninth, not to forget why this happened, it showed how bankrupt, silly and meaningless all the climate change hoopla really is, and that it's just another wealth transfer to the pockets of dictators while keeping the poor in desperate poverty in third world countries.

Tenth, and finally, Hopenchangen, by showing the violence and thieving motives of the left really made the tea party people who have been meeting around the country planning to take their country back look even more sensible, well-behaved, strong, intelligent and patriotic.

Captured CO2

Last week there was a dust storm over Australia that dumped tons of red dust in the ocean. The dust contained nutrients which fed huge blooms of phytoplankton. Those tiny plants provide food for larger ocean creatures. The plankton has captured about 8 million tons of CO2. This will be deposited on the ocean floor. That's one month of emissions from a dirty coal-fired plant in China making energy conserving light bulbs for Americans so they can sit in dim rooms feeling good about themselves for not using American clean coal mined here in Ohio and other Appalachian states providing good jobs. The DC and California greenies don't like the ocean doing the natural CO2 capture and storage primarily because they can't make any money that way or tax it.

You can forget local control

Take a look at the proposed "green codes" of the building trades, and note they are to be "international." When I see the struggle we have here at tiny Lakeside with issues of private (but poor) taste, preservation, dues, taxes, and costs, I really wonder what you can do with an international building code for sustainability, except keep the 3rd world from developing, and the developed world in complete chaos.

When passed by the International Code Council (ICC) through its consensus process and adopted by code jurisdictions, such a code would make sustainable design a mandatory practice, not a suggested alternative. . .

Through the working document, the Sustainable Building Technology Committee (SBTC) and participants have been looking at codes and rating systems in Europe, Australia, and the United States. “The strength of the finished code will be in its unity,” Green says. “It will give architects, states, and municipalities one single tool in the I-Codes they need to guide sustainable development.”

The National Association of Governors (NGA), as part of its comprehensive national Energy Conservation and Improved Energy Efficiency policy, adopted in July the promotion of carbon neutral new and renovated buildings by 2030, a commitment proposed by the American Institute of Architects. Maybe ALA should follow. That's a lot of hot air. Or AMA. Or AARP.

Once we get all these oldsters to stop breathing (not really, even greenies know that is carbon neutral), eating meat and burning fossil fuel or using plastic or modern technology, maybe then we can reach the carbon neutral state so longed for by people whose religion believes Mother Nature has too much flatulence.

More wasted research dollars on social problems

Yesterday I saw a nicely dressed woman walk up my sidewalk and look at my house number and walk away. I saw “U.S. Census” on her bag. I went to the door and yoo-hooed, “Is that it? Am I counted?” “Oh no,“ she laughed. “That will be next year.” Maybe they’ll also be checking my appliances, light bulbs, plumbing and heating units for my carbon footprint. Checking my cupboard and waistline for obesity. Clocking the mileage on my exercycle. Look what Obama's been able to do to kill the economy in just 100 days. What will it be at 465 days?

“CWC (Carbon Water Climate Clutch of Ohio State) has partnered with the PHPID (Public Health Preparedness for Infectious Diseases) to fund a grant to determine "How is the carbon cycle being disrupted by human activities (e.g., fossil fuel combustion) and how can the cycle be re-balanced to mitigate Anthropogenic Climate Change (ACC) and its adverse effects?"

It’s important to understand that ACC, anthropogenic climate change, although never proven (climate records go back about 150 years), is a given in this study grant--don‘t apply if you think it is a hoax. To get promotion and tenure at any university you have to buy into this. Keep in mind, a “green job” has never been defined--but this would be one. I think it’s like victimhood--it’s in the eye of the beholder (grant applicant).

We (this is both federal and state money) don't need to spend money to determine footprints and meaningless surveys, but we should research how these crazy theories hurt the poor, create food and fuel shortages, shore up a few investors like Al Gore and George Soros in the cap and trade exchange (located somewhere in Europe), and destroy large segments of the economy so that we can come under global domination, most likely by the Chinese. the Big O is still laying the ground work for that.

These issues all devolve back to the collective carbon footprint of U.S. citizens and are potentially solvable through society-wide behavior change.


“This project will begin with a descriptive survey of U.S. state and local health departments to assess their baseline understanding of the general concept of carbon footprint and its attendant problems as outlined above. Secondly, the experimental arm of the study will be a pilot intervention project. A "tool kit" of resources will be disseminated to facilitate health departments' engagement with citizens, the business community, and other governmental agencies with the aim of enhancing public cooperation in reducing the collective carbon footprint.” Link

The House of Representatives will soon vote on legislation that would provide funding for undergraduate and graduate architecture and engineering programs relating to the design and construction of high performance buildings. The bill, The Green Energy Education Act of 2009 (HR 957), could be on the House floor as early as today.

The Green Energy Education Act will help educate today's college and graduate architecture and engineering students on the numerous benefits of high performance buildings by authorizing the National Science Foundation to provide grants to universities to develop curricula, laboratory activities, training practicums, and design projects focusing on green buildings and advanced energy technologies. Ensuring that today's architecture and engineering students are aware of the importance of high performance buildings is a necessary step to facilitate increased construction of green buildings in the future.

This is unbelieveable waste. The magazines and newsletters have been filled with this stuff for decades. The Ohio continuing education requirements in being green, environmentally friendly, sustainable and off the grid could fund Al Gore's HVAC bill for years.

How the carbon tax will work

It’s a very old, medieval system. Al Gore and buddies will be at the top; with the rest of us taxed. It won't make any difference whether or not your business or profession uses energy. The tax man cometh.

One less candle

A few days ago Christians and non-religious consumers were being told to get rid of all their incandescent Christmas tree lights and buy new, low energy LED bulbs (if any at all)--you know, those same energy saving China-made-in-coal-fired plants where we can't see the smoke. Now Jews are supposed to light one less candle. This carbon footprint thing is the biggest "cry wolf" fiasco in my life time. Pretty soon, you won't be able to get people to consider picking up their own trash or giving up smoking because they won't believe it's a problem compared to their so called carbon foot print.

However, you can offset this carbon footprint made by your outside Christmas tree lights by staying married.
