When lie dresses like truth
The Truth, furious, climbed out of the well to get her clothes back. But the World, upon seeing the naked Truth, looked away, with anger and contempt. Poor Truth returned to the well and disappeared forever, hiding her shame. Since then, the Lie runs around the world, dressed as the Truth, and society is very happy...
Because the world has no desire to know the naked Truth.

Some pep talks are not truthful—especially ones about truth
I saw this in the daily dose of coping encouragement in the OSU medical newsletter—which these days is mostly about Covid19.
“We can banish fear by realizing the truth.
“Am I afraid to be alone?” This fear can be subdued by the realization that we are surrounded by people each and every day.
People who care about us are all around us every single day. They’re willing to support us at the drop of the hat — but only if we let them know we need their support.
The number of people willing to support us is inexhaustible and unfailing, as long as we engage in open communication making clear our need for their support. Funny thing, when we support each other: Our bonds grow stronger, and we’re much more successful in our endeavors.”
Think about that first sentence in the context of what we see every day.
We knew the truth about glioblastoma when our son was diagnosed on October 1, 2019. We knew he would soon die and that our lives changed forever on that day. That was the truth. It didn’t banish our fear.
We saw enough evidence about mail in ballots and middle of the night vote counting for the November 3 election to know the truth. It hasn’t banished fear about where our system of government is heading. The truth is not banishing fear, it’s causing us to lose our basic freedoms.
I’m looking out my window at fresh snow, I know it will be extremely cold and slick when I go to the grocery store. That’s truth. But I’m still afraid to drive there.
And there are NOT inexhaustible and unfailing people surrounding us and available to help at the drop of the hat. Those people are locked in their homes. True, this was written to support the highly stressed medical workers dealing with a pandemic who see people every day. but imagine throwing that guilt trip on people already stressed to the limit. And although sometimes just the right person comes along to help or support, that’s the exception, which is why we often mention it in our prayer groups and Bible studies (now available only on ZOOM).
Platitudes and cheap grace. That’s what a lot of coping stragies are. This advice was followed up with a video of horses playing with rubber balls. Cute. But it didn’t banish the fear based on Truth.

I’ve found the problem; we’re no longer virtuous
Ben Franklin wrote: "Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
- We cannot call ourselves virtuous if we're killing babies and sterilizing children with hormones and chemicals in the quest of a fantasy about sex.
- We cannot call ourselves virtuous if we destroy dreams of our citizens because they won't submit to socialist big-think and jabberwocky.
- We cannot call ourselves virtuous if we allow political reeducation camps to reside inside our colleges and universities.
- We cannot call ourselves virtuous while allowing all manner of data manipulation and cyber-spying to squash original thought.
- We cannot call ourselves virtuous while allowing regulations by unelected bureaucrats to take the place of our legislators examining the issues and voting our wishes.
- We cannot call ourselves virtuous if we do not encourage legal immigration to refresh and renew our national spirit and
- discourage illegal immigration which steals wealth from our workers attempting to get ahead.
- We cannot call ourselves virtuous if we do not seek truth, beauty and goodness in our art, public buildings, libraries, museums, entertainment, literature and finally, in our homes.

Drifting along. . .
Why Trump and the Deplorables are hated. They’ve unsettled the deep state and its business as usual. Now Democrats are hoping to take us back to the good old days of the 19th century and the 1930s.

Meet Lawrence O’Donnell, proud to be a liberal liar

This guy sure doesn't know his American history. Republicans were the champions of blacks and voting rights. Democrats fought them all the way--with the KKK, btw. They didn't end segregation--they furthered it until someone realized blacks vote, at least when Democrats allowed them. It wasn't liberals who got women the right to vote, it was women of all parties and philosophies, thank you very much. And they were already voting in the state and local elections. Liberals have contributed to the destruction of over 50 million Americans, 38% of them black, and half of them female, by advocating abortion as a "health" plan. All major social programs up to Obamacare which was just theft from the private sector, had full support of both parties. Neither party should brag on the War on Poverty which both have supported because it has left the poor wounded and victimized. None could have been passed without Republican support. Wear your badge proudly, Mr. O'Donnell, but you win no prize for truth telling.

Hayek on my bookshelves
Road to Serfdom, written by F.A. Hayek for a British audience but not published until 1944, has become a “classic,” and one I’d never heard of until Glenn Beck’s show on Fox. Beck probably did more to get people reading than Oprah Winfrey. Any mention of a title, and the warehouses were empties. The left just hates the way it dismantles and warns about socialism, authoritarianism and totalitarianism.
I have vol. 2, the “The definitive edition,” with text and documents, edited by Bruce Caldwell (University of Chicago Press, 2007). There are 20 volumes in the provisional collected works by Mr. Caldwell.
Here’s something appropriate because of the lies with spin we’ve been subjected to lately. From “my mother had no health insurance,” to “I never knew my Uncle Omar” to “You can keep your doctor, period,” this explains the thinking.
“The word “truth” itself ceases to have its old meaning. It describes no longer something to be found, with the individual conscience as the sole arbiter of whether in any particular instance the evidence . . . warrants a belief; it become something to be laid down by authority; something which has to be believed in the interest of the unity of the organized effort and which may have to be altered as the exigencies of this organized effort require it.” . . . produced cynicism, loss of the sense of even the meaning of truth, the disappearance of the spirit of independent inquiry and of the belief in the power of rational conviction. . . every branch of knowledge become political issues to be decided by authority. . . “ p. 178

Barack’s uncle Omar
I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for Obama (aka White House) lying about his uncle. He was out of the room when the truth genes were passed out.
It's just stunning what the smartest man on the globe claims not to know.
Jay Carney (paraphrase): "No one asked him (Obama) when the original report came up." So it seems No one, Someone, Anyone and Everyone are ganging up again on the President. They are probably all Republicans and members of the Tea Party.

The cash for clunkers clunk

"A total of 690,000 new vehicles were sold under the Cash for Clunkers program last summer, but only 125,000 of those were vehicles that would not have been sold anyway, according to an analysis released Wednesday by the automotive Web site Edmunds.com.
Still, auto sales contributed heavily to the economy's expansion in the third quarter, adding 1.7 percentage points to the nation's gross domestic product growth. [That's a gummit lie because moving government money around is not expansion.]
The Cash for Clunkers program gave car buyers rebates of up to $4,500 if they traded in less fuel-efficient vehicles for new vehicles that met certain fuel economy requirements. A total of $3 billion was allotted for those rebates.
The average rebate was $4,000. But the overwhelming majority of sales would have taken place anyway at some time in the last half of 2009, according to Edmunds.com. That means the government ended up spending about $24,000 each for those 125,000 additional vehicle sales." Money CNN

If her lips are moving
Whether it is about her pre-Bush belief in the threat of WMD and Saddam Hussein, or dodging sniper fire in Bosnia, or the right wing conspiracy to bring down Bill with LIES about his sex life, or her financial scare stories about all the industries she currently denounces, you can't believe her. And the media mavens let us know what they think of truth (all quotes in today's USAToday) It's just not a big deal.- AP writer Ron Fournier: "over compensating"
Boston Globe, Joan Vennochi: "selective memory syndrome"
Slate, John Dickerson: "we should stop pouncing on every little thing"
David Brooks: "The candidates are sniping and we have to endure. . ."
Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Cynthia Tucker: "snarling and vicious smears"
