Nostalgia for Y2K

Was it only a quarter of a century ago? Almost. Remember the preparation for the big 2000 celebration and how Y2K bonded us? Communism was defeated and Naziism gone, but we had wised up about pie in the sky humanism. Both U.S. parties believed in and advocated for "western style democracy" as the best method to raise 3rd world people out of poverty and to defeat totalitarianism.

GW Bush was naive and thought we could impose western values on tribal cultures, allowing people to vote, liberating women and supporting an endless war. At home BH Obama wanted to reduce our next generation and poverty through abortion, take over the largest sector of the economy with socialist medicine, and pay back the sins of the past with old family feuds by imposing on 21st century white Americans, the discrimination and laws of the 19th century that hurt black Americans.

With Biden and his blue state cronies we have the worst of the first 2 administrations of the 21 century. Wars, death, destruction but with inflation, gnosticism, higher taxes, millions invading at our borders, and more tribalism at home.

Biden's cronies as Obama 2.0 have brought back the totalitarianism, slavery (both labor and sex), discrimination, endless wars, and tribal battles that we had hoped had been eliminated by "western democracy."

Michael Rectenwald's message for leftists

Michael Rectenwald is the author of numerous books and poetry collections. He is a retired professor of literature. He's recently started a podcast, and has a website, Michael Rectenwald Home.

  •  Let leftists live imprisoned in 15-minute cities, under constant surveillance, wearing masks, & submitting to endless useless vaccines, or worse.
  • Let them survive on UBI issued in CBDC, with digital IDs that track their every move from cradle to grave.
  • Let them forgo real meat, eat synthetic meat, toxic vegetables, and bugs.
  • Let them submit to smart city technologies that track their carbon footprints and issue them social credit scores so they feel like good compliant citizens.
  • Let them have their Marxism, critical race theory, transgenderism, and servility to the ever-burgeoning state.
  • Let them think they are radicals as they serve as the foot soldiers and accomplices of the globalist elite.
  • It's time to separate from these people. No reconciliation is possible.
  • The only question is whether the totalitarians they serve will let us out.
The 15-minute city (FMC or 15mC) mentioned above is an urban planning concept in which most daily necessities and services, such as work, shopping, education, healthcare, and leisure can be easily reached by a 15-minute walk or bike ride from any point in the city. At this point, I think they exist in China.

UBI is universal basic income.

CBDC is central bank digital currency and is generally defined as a digital liability of a central bank that is widely available to the general public. Today in the United States, Federal Reserve notes (i.e., physical currency) are the only type of central bank money available to the general public.

We love killing babies--from summer of rage protestors

I was shocked to see on Facebook a woman I'd just taken communion from the week before write "abort the Supreme Court" on her page. She'd also been in DC 5 years ago wearing a pink hat to protest the inauguration of Donald Trump in January 2017 (before he's had a day in office) to cheer on that riot (which caused more damage than J-6). Although I'm sure she didn't mean kill them, that's how many in her camp will read it, and some are launching racist and violent attacks on our Supreme Court against Thomas and Kavanaugh. Will there be hearings? Of course not. Democrats are in charge. A retired 3 star general has been suspended by the Army for making a sarcastic remark about Jill Biden's abortion views. Now THAT's totalitarianism. These same duplicitous gangs who march for killing are rejoicing in the fake hearings on J-6 so they can breathe some more life into their hate Trump campaigns for media ratings. It makes me wonder what anger and hate bubble up and infect her other wise pleasant demeanor and smile on Sunday morning. Her rights and mine come from God and not the state.

Masks are gone for now

The cruelty of our states and our federal government show us their totalitarian direction these last two years and how far the USA has fallen on the freedom scale.  It's not progressive, or democratic, despite their attempt to change the language. The frenzy from the Left about Elon Musk's desire to make Twitter a free public space again is really alarming--not the freedom of speech but the Left's effort to stop it.  The battle for the minds of young children is another arena where we see evil taking over.

Maoists in the Mist by Melissa Mackenzie

"Masks are gone, for now. Biden and his totalitarians have decided to appeal the decision by a Federal judge that the CDC exceeded its authority with the Federal mask mandate. I write about the ways the totalitarians harassed Americans in big and small ways.

My biggest concern is the people who cannot see their own Maoist impulse through this public health debacle. The indifference to ruining people's careers and harming their ability to care for their families when they worked through the pandemic and took all the risk up front is astonishing.

The Keyboard Klass™ is contemptuous of nurses, for example, who worked through the pandemic. These men and women got COVID, are immune and then were FIRED for refusing to take an experimental genetic therapeutic (it's not a vaccine.) It was their choice to not get vaccinated, said the self-righteous unaffected.

Nancy Pelosi sat in a business her policies shut down and violated her own rules for her hair. 43% of small businesses in California went out of business while this woman had her hair done.

This is evil stuff.

I wrote up the indignities supposedly free people faced over the last couple of years.

Civilization is a thin veneer. Too many people would like to impose their will on their neighbors and gladly do it and feel morally superior in the process.

I hope that freedom-loving people remember what happened these last two years.

It's not science, it's totalitarianism

A Constitutional Cure for Covid-19

by Marilyn M. Singleton, M.D., J.D.

Covid, Covid, Covid. Variant, variant, variant. Trust me, I’m the government’s highest paid employee, and “I represent science.” Show your papers, wear a mask, take a shot or lose your job. And the beat goes on for an infection where 99.95 percent of infected persons under age 70 years recover. It’s becoming clear that Covid-19 is not merely a disease but an excuse to concentrate power in the government.

It’s time for the political histrionics to stop. Multiple studies have shown that the consequences far outweigh any potential (and illusory) benefits of masks, lockdowns, and school closures. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director admitted that the current Covid-19 mRNA vaccines, while helpful in reducing deaths and hospitalizations, do not stop transmission of the virus. “Breakthrough” cases in vaccinated persons are on the rise. Moreover, the current vaccines likely are not effective for the new, likely less lethal Omicron variant. Public health experts opine that the SARS-CoV-2 virus (that causes Covid-19) and its multiple variants are becoming endemic. That means SARS-CoV-2 and its infinite number of variants will not be eliminated, but become a manageable part of the human-viral ecosystem.

Sadly, our government is not responding in accordance with the scientific facts. Instead, federal and some local governments are mandating more vaccines, culminating in proof of vaccination to engage in society and continue living as a normal human being. This is not science. This is nascent totalitarianism.

Two lines from the 1990 Cold War era spy film, The Hunt for Red October foreshadowed our government’s warp speed trajectory to authoritarianism. “Privacy is not of major concern in the Soviet Union, comrade. It’s often contrary to the collective good.” And a White House official casually boasted, “I’m a politician that means I’m a cheat and a liar.”

It didn’t take long for President Biden to tell the big lie. As president-elect, Mr. Biden said there would be no vaccine mandates. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (the third in line for the presidency) brilliantly illustrated the intersection of lying and privacy. As late as August 2021, Speaker Pelosi said, “We cannot require someone to be vaccinated. That’s just not what we can do. It is a matter of privacy to know who is or who isn’t.”

Without skipping a beat, the executive branch issued three separate vaccine mandates: all federal contractors (including remote workers), an Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA) requirement for businesses with more than 100 employees, and a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirement for employees, volunteers and third-party contractors of health care providers certified by CMS.

The judicial branch is fighting back against the President’s attempt to jettison the Constitution’s separation of powers clauses, a large chunk of the Bill of Rights, and Supreme Court precedents on bodily autonomy with these mandates. On November 9th, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals put the OSHA mandate on hold. The Court reasoned that the mandate “threatens to substantially burden the liberty interests of reluctant individual recipients put to a choice between their job(s) and their jab(s).” And “the loss of constitutional freedoms ‘for even minimal periods of time … unquestionably constitutes irreparable injury.”

Citing the lack of congressional authorization and harm to access to medical care, on November 29th a Missouri federal district court placed a temporary halt on the CMS health care workers “boundary-pushing” mandate. The government planned to enforce the mandate by imposing monetary penalties, denial of payment and termination from the Medicare and Medicaid program. The ruling covers providers in Kansas, Alaska, Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.

On November 30th, a Louisiana federal district court blocked the CMS mandate issuing a nationwide injunction in a lawsuit brought by 14 states (Arizona, Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah and West Virginia). “If the executive branch is allowed to usurp the power of the legislative branch to make laws, two of the three powers conferred by our Constitution would be in the same hands. … [C]ivil liberties face grave risks when governments proclaim indefinite states of emergency.”

That same day, a Kentucky federal district court issued a hold on the federal government contractors mandate, citing lack of authority of the executive branch—“even for a good cause”. The court reasoned that if a procurement statute could be used to mandate vaccination, it “could be used to enact virtually any measure at the president’s whim under the guise of economy and efficiency.” The ruling covers Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee.

The mainstream media finally reported on the toxicity and poor results of Dr. Fauci’s “standard of care” treatment, remdesivir. This prompted families to use the courts rather than watch their relatives needlessly die. Victories for patients are growing. A Chicago area judge recently ordered a hospital to “step aside” and allow a physician to administer ivermectin in an effort to save a dying patient. It worked.

People are tired of lies. When Google employees are signing a “manifesto” to fight the mandates, you know the seeds of revolt have sprouted.

All for the guy who promises unity—Joe Biden

In a show of totalitarianism, the folks who called Trump and Bush Hitler, show how it's really done. They don't mess around.

"This force—at least four times the deployment for Trump’s heavily and even violently protested inauguration in 2017—far exceeds the number of all serving U.S. personnel in the Middle East. It has no precedent on American soil at any time since the Civil War. And even this wasn’t thought sufficient to deter Trumpian mischief. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reportedly wanted the Guard armed with high-caliber machine guns and requested that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff deprive Trump of constitutional military prerogatives prior to his leaving office. At least one Democratic congressman wondered in a televised interview whether the guardsmen could be trusted since so many of them are white males, statistically likely to have voted for Trump, and therefore suspect in his eyes. The military show of force and the deprogramming demands

Counting all the rallies for Trump, including the one in DC on December 12th which drew tens of thousands, there were probably over a million people at his rallies and none were violent or even left a pile of trash the way the left does. But the one on the 12th was to let our Congress know that half of the country wanted to "Stop the Steal." All the legal ways were being blocked. Could you got 100 people at a protest in the summer by the Left without busting up windows or burning police cars.

So why the big show now? The voters who were following the rules to question an election, were blocked at every turn, and were vilified by Democrats even though their party had done the same in 2000 and 2016. Then Big Tech jumped in with a show of force that makes the Capitol mob look like kindergartners. I think this massing of military force is just to further adjust us to the totalitarian government Biden will bring with him. A number of high profile Democrats are threatening to take your children and reeducate them because Trump supporters are part of a cult. It's not legal to deprogram a Moonie or a homosexual, but Trump supporters are fair game. They have no ideas, only threats.

Is this the future for workers?

“Yesterday I got my oil changed at the dealer. Here is how my car was returned to me. Plus, they brought out a huge spray gun and disinfected the car before and after changing the oil.

When I checked out with the service guy (whom I have come to know fairly well), I did as I always do: I tested him by making breezy comments about the madness of the disinfectant and the plastic coverings in my car. Well, I unraveled a guy who really needed to vent.

He said he had come to hate his job. He told me the wait for service is long because they limit the number of technicians that can be in the shop at one time. Customers can't get timely service; everyone is on a short fuse; and he gets screamed at all day long by customers, in addition to having to deal with cameras set up around the shop making sure the employees are following "strict Covid guidelines." He told me that his temperature is taken several times per day. He said he's exhausted, over-stressed, and miserable. He is typically an upbeat and really great guy.

He showed me one (of many) emails from an irate customer who left the shop after his service and wrote a crazed, angry email to management complaining about someone moving his car without a mask, people touching the outside of his car, etc. He said they get these complaints all day long *in addition* to being berated by every fear-mongered nitwit who walks in the door. In his face I saw a depressed guy, with a wife and small children, who said he is ready to give up.

Now the thing is I’ve had _many_ of these conversations with folks, including my chiropractor and veterinarian. This is only the beginning of life under the boot of a totalitarian-authoritarian-surveillance state. There is much worse to come if the masses keep believing their masters. – KDC”

Hayek on my bookshelves

Road to Serfdom, written by F.A. Hayek for a British audience but not published until 1944,  has become a “classic,” and one I’d never heard of until Glenn Beck’s show on Fox. Beck probably did more to get people reading than Oprah Winfrey. Any mention of a title, and the warehouses were empties.  The left just hates the way it dismantles and warns about socialism, authoritarianism and totalitarianism.

I have vol. 2, the “The definitive edition,” with text and documents, edited by Bruce Caldwell (University of Chicago Press, 2007). There are 20 volumes in the provisional collected works by Mr. Caldwell.

Here’s something appropriate because of the lies with spin we’ve been subjected to lately.  From “my mother had no health insurance,” to “I never knew my Uncle Omar” to “You can keep your doctor, period,” this explains the thinking.

“The word “truth” itself ceases to have its old meaning.  It describes no longer something to be found, with the individual conscience as the sole arbiter of whether in any particular instance the evidence  . . . warrants a belief; it become something to be laid down by authority; something which has to be believed in the interest of the unity of the organized effort and which may have to be altered as the exigencies of this organized effort require it.” . . . produced cynicism, loss of the sense of even the meaning of truth, the disappearance of the spirit of independent inquiry and of the belief in the power of rational conviction. . . every branch of knowledge become political issues to be decided by authority. . . “ p. 178

Rousseau

Glenn Beck's been hitting the progressives pretty hard--and much of what those of us my age and younger (that would be most of the nation) know as the good old USA. Needless to say, we're getting a bit defensive. Oh sure, Hitler and Stalin are flip sides of the same coin and need a good smack, but Teddy Roosevelt? This morning in reading a piece by Nancy Pearcy editor at large of The Pearcey Report, I read this:
"Most of the ideologies that bloodied the 20th century were influenced by Rousseau. His writing inspired Robespierre in the French Revolution, as well as Marx, Lenin, Mussolini, Hitler, and Mao. So if you get a grip on Rousseau's thinking, you have a key to understanding much of the modern world."
She goes on to describe how he hypothesized that human relationships "are not ultimately real; instead they are secondary, or derivative, created by individual choice. . . . his most influential work opens with the famous line, "Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains." He did not mean chains of political oppression, as we Americans might think. For Rousseau, the really oppressive relationships were personal ones like marriage, family, church, and workplace." And what will liberate us according to Rousseau, she asks?
"The state. The state would destroy all social ties, releasing the individual from loyalty to anything except itself. Rousseau spelled out his vision with startling clarity: "Each citizen would then be completely independent of all his fellow man, and absolutely dependent on the state." No wonder his philosophy inspired so many totalitarian systems."
Rousseau and his mistress abandoned their five children on the steps of a state-run orphanage, Pearcey writes, even though most died or became beggars. Rousseau thought the state better qualified to raise children than the parents. In his own case, he might have had a point.

Today the government approves and encourages aborting them if they are inconvenient or not perfect; it spends their money before they are born turning them into beggars more dependent on the state.
