The unfairness doctrine

If it were up to me, and it is because I change stations or channels, I'd eliminate these guys from the airways and TV screens of America
    Anderson Cooper

    Chris Matthews

    Larry King

    The View

    Charlie Rose
Mostly it's just their liberal twaddle--global warming, health scares, what's wrong with our culture--that makes little sense because they spew sound bites we've been hearing for 30 years. But Larry and Charlie just look worn out and bored; Anderson takes himself way too seriously; Chris shouts; the View insults women's intelligence. I know some of you enjoy this, so it's OK by me if advertisers and consumers want to support them. I can change channels. And I expect you to do the same when my favorites come up and not legislate/regulate them off the air.

Wow.. if we're making lists, let me present mine. I'll match your liberal twaddle with conservative twaddle.

Bill O'Reilly

Rush Limbaugh

Sean Hannity

Glen Beck

Lars Larson

Michael Savage

Bill and Sean are egotists that really don't have much to say. Glen loves conspiracy theories that are just rediculous. Lars is vapid. And talk about yelling, Michael is just completely unhinged. And this is my short list.

I don't listen to Lars or Savage--don't know who they are--but you should have a right to change the channel from Bill and Sean and anyone else you don't like. I think I have heard ads for Savage and I do turn that off. Is he the one who finds aliens from outer space at 3 a.m. to talk to? Or is he the one who thinks Bush is a commie pinko? I'm not trying to shut out your twaddle--but your ilk is trying to close down the airways for conservatives.

No, the alien guy is Art Bell. Savage probably does think Bush is a commie. I tune in to all of them on occasion. I like the little charge it gives to my blood pressure. I don't listen to any of the liberals.

You're right, when I don't like them, I turn of the radio/TV.

My ilk? Why, how nice of you to ask me how I feel about the Fairness Doctrine.

I don't think we should re-instate the Fairness Doctrine as it was. Although I think the claims of disaster for Conservatives is grossly over stated (think about how your ilk respond to global warming). If they had to share the airwaves on each station with Libs, that doesn't mean they will disappear - you'll just get a variety of twaddle.

I do, however, think they should all provide some time for the little guys in every community to be heard and have their own show. Or, give them a little 5 minute segments throughout the day to voice their opinions, etc. After all, if they are going to get an exclusive right to a particular part of a public resource, then they need to give something back in return. I'm not interested in having the Air America personalities get "equal" time."

Most talk radio I listen to allow diverse opnions; and I know TV has public time (it's pretty awful, unfortunately). Podcasts or blogcasts or vlogs show just how difficult it is to really put out a professional product.

Have a good New Year RL and may your library stay funded.

Thank you, and you too. Despite my pessimistic expectations, or rather hefty levy passed. I almost feel guilty having a degree of job security that others do not.

I agree with both the liberal and conservative list. I can't stand to listen to any of them. The only one I halfway like is Anderson Cooper - and only because someone I know actually met him once and said he's a nice guy. Still, though, he works for CNN which means I don't watch him anyway.

"The View" is annoying. There's no talk - just yelling over each other. There's too much noise in the world already. I don't want anymore.

I used to listen to talk radio a good bit (Dave Ramsey, Phil Valentine), but lately I can't even stand that. It's likely because of other stuff going on in my life right now - but all the political ranting just seems pointless to me. I turn off the radio in the car and enjoy a little quiet.

Ask for an Ipod for Christmas and load your own music and forget the "talkers" and the overly opinionated for a few blissful hours...news can wait, they will be yelling about something else tomorrow..signed "Pollyanna" from Illinois(now tell me we don't have reason to turn off the TV/radio!)
