Harris and the takeover

Why in the world would Harris sit for an interview, even for friendly, soft ball questions from the "legacy media?" The media have already puffed her up to princess level; she's already allowed a foreign invasion as the Border Czar. How much difference did it make to Democrats that she did nothing. Said nothing. Answered no criticism. She only has to wait and not speak. She lies when her lips move, so what difference does it make? No shots fired. Easy Peasy. The stage is set for the totalitarian takeover.

Presidential abuse of power

There really has been presidential abuse of power, but it was Obama, not Trump. It is called DACA. I'm so old I remember Obama saying he wasn't a king and couldn't do it. I'm paraphrasing his lie, of course, but maybe you remember, too.

"Through DACA, President Obama usurped Congress’ legislative power. Solely by executive order, he implemented a program that Congress rejected dozens of times, and he refused to enforce immigration laws that Congress actually passed into law. In other words, President Obama “abused the powers of the Presidency” and “assumed to himself functions and judgments … vested by the Constitution in Congress.”

But it sure made him popular, didn't it? Part of his phony legacy.

Who’s responsible for the immigration mess?

Not Donald J. Trump.

Remember how Obama blamed Bush for 4 years for the recession and then set out to make it worse? Slowest recovery since the 30s when FDR tried the same tricks with the economy. The “experts” are still trying to figure out what happened.  Along comes Trump who asks for 1/4 of what the Democrats promised during the last administration, who suggests a deal to correct the DACA executive order mess which Obama illegally foisted on us, but they are terrified to give him another win like he's done with the courts, the economy and the prison system.  This is not about illegal aliens, it’s about stopping Donald Trump’s second term.

In 2013, 54 Senate Democrats voted to build the wall, end the diversity visa lottery, double the number of border agents, and move toward a merit-based immigration system. In 2006, U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) along with Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden voted to increase the size of the border wall.

The wrong questions about immigration; why do we aid Mexico?

We're asking the wrong questions about immigration. Why is Mexico exporting its poor and brown citizens north when it is a wealthy country?

Actually, we know why. Immigrants, legal and illegal, send money home. For Mexico, it's $24.8 billion, higher than oil revenues--and Mexico has a lot of oil. https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/BX.TRF.PWKR.DT.GD.ZS Stop that. It's cheaper than a wall, and more humane.

Have you ever seen a person of color or any ethnic diversity on Telemundo or Univision (both American companies immune from all diversity rules)? Is Mexico working to get rid of its population that is not European heritage? The Mexican government seems to be working with sanctuary cities to make sure they don't get their citizens back, especially the criminal element.

For U.S. businesses, Mexican immigrants are concentrated in service and construction industries and are good workers. For U.S. higher education institutions, Mexican immigrants are a ready source for ambitious students, eligible for aid. About 90% of DACA applicants and renewals are for Mexicans not born in the U.S. 

 

For the Democrat party, Mexican immigrants are seen as voters to be held close through special favors.

President Trump's message on DACA

DACA, the Executive Order mess

I don't know what President Trump intends to do about DACA, but it is a mess that Obama handed him that should have been decided by Congress, not the President. So. . . he should turn it over to Congress and step aside. Let the Republicans get some backbone and the Democrats take back their party. Obama had a Democratic Congress his first two years, but he squandered his power on the failed ACA theft instead of getting Congress to make some tough decisions on immigration.  Also, he knew the Executive Order could be undone by the next president, but it made him look good--compassionate, kind, and power hungry.

The main problem with the current immigration law is it wasn't followed.

The U.S. Constitution grants Congress the exclusive right to legislate in the area of immigration. Most of the relevant laws, including the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), are found in Title 8 of the United States Code. State governments are prohibited from enacting immigration laws. Despite this, a handful of states recently passed laws requiring local police to investigate the immigration status of suspected illegal aliens, creating some controversy.

Three federal agencies are charged with administering and enforcing immigration laws. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) investigates those who break the law, and prosecutes offenders. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) handles applications for legal immigration. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is responsible for keeping the borders secure.
