Pelosi won't weep over Grayson's behavior

“Congressman Alan Grayson (D-FL) recently gave an angry speech about members of the GOP on the House floor. CNN.com quoted Grayson as saying on the House floor that "[I]f you get sick America, the Republican health care plan is this: die quickly." (If you click the link, you can watch the video of Mr. Grayson in action espousing his bitterly partisan view.) Some, including members of the GOP, have compared this speech to Congressman Joe Wilson's outburst during President Obama's address to Congress. That comparison of the two pieces of rhetoric ignores some of the major differences between the two.

Firstly, Congressman Wilson's shouting of the phrase "You Lie" was unacceptable and I do not support that behavior. However, Congressman Wilson has said that he did not plan that outburst and he apologized for it afterwards to the White House. On the other hand, Grayson's speech was planned. You can tell it was planned well in advance because he had visual aids for those who might have been watching the speech but not listening to it. One of his signs said the following: "The Republican Health Care Plan: DIE QUICKLY." “

Rebuke your representative

if she tries to vote on a formal House rebuke of Joe Wilson. He has already apologized and the President accepted it. Harry Reid and John Murtha have never apologized to anyone for their outrageous speeches and acts, and they never will.

Donations pouring in for Wilson

Politico reports
"A source on Rep. Joe Wilson's campaign says his fundraising has broken $1 million -- and surpassed that of his Democratic rival, Rob Miller -- since his outburst of "You lie!" during President Obama's address to Congress Wednesday.

The source said Wilson's current tally is $1,005,021 from 18,859 donations amid a high-profile campaign on the Drudge Report and elsewhere telling conservatives that Wilson is "under attack" for his willingness to take on Obama.

Wilson, who initially apologized for his words, is now riding a reaction that has surpassed the liberal backlash to his words: Miller has raised less than $900,000, according to the Democratic fundraising site ActBlue -- though still more than enough to envigorate his challenge. [this was updated later to a million for miller]

Still, Wilson's success -- despite having been criticized by Republican leaders -- represents the power of the conservative grassroots to reward politicians who confront the White House in the sharpest terms. Link.
That's a lot of small donations. Want to bet on the big guns donating to Miller like Soros, Move it over, ACLU etc.? Also, if you wish to contribute, I'd use snail mail. The wackos have hacked his site.

Notice Politico's wording and scare quotes. (Liberal site which struggles with fairness) Why is a Drudge Report called high profile, but ALL the MSM supporting Obama isn't? And Reid's calling Bush a liar and loser many times wasn't sharpest terms, but Wilson's spontaneous outburst was?

They called Bush a liar and terrorized our soldiers with rumors

So will they stand up and apologize on the floor? No, of course not, because the biggest hypocrites in the world are the Democrats in Congress. They want Joe Wilson to apologize again for saying, "You lie." Obama was lying practically every other sentence. Who's going to make him apologize to the people? And hasn't the President used this as a wonderful teachable moment--blaming all the vitriol on the other side and not himself?
"Mr. Obama then turned to use Wilson as something of an example – making this a teachable moment, perhaps – saying that “we have to get to the point where we can have a conversation about big, important issues that matter to the American people without vitriol, without name- . . ."
Oh gag! Hot Air said it best
"That’s why you farm out the rhetoric about “evil-mongers” and “political terrorists” to halfwits like Harry Reid and Democrats in the House instead of dirtying those dainty hands of yours. But as painful as the vitriol might be to your tender Hopenchangey heart, you never open your mouth to specifically rebuke your own side, do you? A wise man once had something to say about presidents who don’t keep their surrogates in line, but never mind, I guess. Enjoy the lecture from Captain Civility."
I've been pulling weeds today on my walk. There are many, but I've selected just one--don't know its name. Small single root, with tiny leaves, and it branches out and spreads like crazy, killing everything around it; and loves the heat of the curbs. If you can find the root and give it a yank, the whole thing--about 2' in circumference--comes up. I've christened it "Obamacare."

"You Lie!" Joe Wilson

From Blogsphere: HT Nancy at American Daughter

". . .tonight Obama stood before Congress and lied to the members. Rep. Joe Wilson has read the bill. Barack Obama has not read the bill, and is relying on his handlers to tell him what to say. Politicians on both sides of the aisle called upon Wilson to apologize, which he did. Many, including John McCain, seemed to think that Wilson was rude for calling out from the audience. Personally, I believe that Obama was rude for lying to Congress and to the American citizens who were watching and listening. And Obama was arrogant and disdainful for assuming that we are stupid enough to believe his lie. ActBlue immediately created a fund-raising page for Joe Wilson's 2010 Democratic challenger Rob Miller titled No More Name Calling. So far they have raised a grand total of $100 from three supporters. And Wikipedia had to disable editing of their article on Joe Wilson due to vandalism. Which is more important -- the veneer of manners or the gut of honesty? Have any of these pantywaists ever watched a session of the British parliament? In any event, the future probably will favor Wilson. We understand that he has aspirations for higher office, and the governorship in his state may soon be vacant. In this timely moment, he has just become a national ideological hero. He gave voice to the frustrated silent majority, and they are ecstatic:"
The new battle cry of all TRUE AMERICANS:

    YOU LIE!!!!!

Blogger: "If there is no concrete plan then why did Obama say he was going to "clarify" on TV tonite. There was a lie right there..."

Blogger: "Good for him, I say. Exercise your first amendment rights before they're taken away."

    Blogger: "Bravo Mr. Wilson. Bravo."

This non-crime needs a real pardon

It's been interesting to see the left go crazy over the commutation of Scooter Libby's sentence, to allow him to stay out of jail while he appeals. Many conservatives think it didn't go far enough, and I'm one of them. Usually, whining that so-and-so did much worse isn't much of a defense, but when I think of Sandy Berger and this theft of documents from the national archives and the little wrist slap he got, I'm just stunned by this injustice. And the out and out crooks that Clinton pardoned! Oh my gosh--and for what--money for Hillary's campaign?

Here's the take at Opinion Journal about the lack of courage in the Bush administration:
Joe Wilson's original, false accusation about pre-war intelligence metastasized into the issue of who "outed" his wife, Valerie Plame, as an intelligence officer. As the event unfolded, it fell to Mr. Libby to defend the Administration against Mr. Wilson's original charge, with little public assistance or support from the likes of Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell or Stephen Hadley.

In no small part because of these profiles in non-courage, it was Mr. Libby who found himself caught up in prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald's hunt for the Plame leaker, which he and his masters at Justice knew from Day One to be State Department official Richard Armitage. As Mr. Fitzgerald's obsessive exercise ground forward, Mr. Libby got caught in a perjury net that we continue to believe trapped an innocent man who lost track of what he said, when he said it, and to whom.
One other thing that puzzles me is our prosecutor system. These guys are given way too much power. Whether it is Nifong, or Starr or Fitzgerald, the system stinks, because you are obviously guilty until you've spent down all your funds, or the public gets tired of reading about it.

And Joe Wilson, the biggest liar of them all, goes free, the darling of the MSM. I'm baffled by Washington.
