Tragedy on the Ohio State campus

An OSU student from NJ was shot and killed 2 days ago near the  campus at a private party. It's hard to tell, but from the photos, he doesn't appear to be a POC, not even 1/4 or 1/8. The teenager with a police record who is a POC has been charged with his murder. He is not a student. If this were reversed, would there be mobs gathering on campus to protest the systemic racism and would the memorials be replaced with riots?

Trans fat in New York

In Ohio, we were told we just must have gambling because all the gambling money was going to West Virginia or Michigan or someplace out of state. Therefore, it was essential that we too rob from the poor so that the rich can play.

Well, why doesn't this apply to donuts for New Yorkers? If a New Yorker wants to get a decent donut, he has to drive to New Jersey or some other state!
"On December 5, 2006, the Board of Health approved an amendment to the Health Code to phase out artificial trans fat in all NYC restaurants and other food service establishments. It is now in full effect. The phase out of artificial trans fat in restaurant foods took effect in two stages. First, as of July 1, 2007, NYC food service establishments have been prohibited from using oils, shortening and margarine containing artificial trans fat for frying or as a spread that have 0.5 grams or more of trans fat per serving. The second and final deadline was July 1, 2008. As of July 1, 2008, all foods must have less than 0.5 grams of trans fat per serving if they have any artificial trans fat. Packaged foods served in the manufacturer's original, sealed packaging are exempt."
It's been over two years now--are New Yorkers healthier, or are they making underground trips to neighboring states for trans fat items they can't buy in their own state?

Governor Chris Christie--I hope this guy runs for President some day

"My argument is not with teachers in New Jersey. My argument is with a union who collects $730 a year from every teacher and school employee in the union in mandatory dues. And if you don't want to join the union here's your option: you can be out. You pay 85% of $730 ... to be out. It's like the Hotel California. You can check in anytime you like but you can never leave. That raises for the teachers union, get ready, $130 million a year. What do they spend that money on? ... $6 million in negative advertising against me since March 16th. Think about that. That's a little over two months they have spent $6 million on New York TV and Radio, Philadelphia TV and radio to attack me. That's dues money that is coming from their teachers, mandatory no choice, and from all of you because those salaries come from your property taxes and your state income taxes."

FDA, ReGen and Democrats

I heard this on the radio while returning from coffee.

“The Food and Drug Administration said Thursday that four New Jersey congressmen and its own former commissioner unduly influenced the process that led to its decision last year to approve a patch for injured knees, an approval it is now revisiting.” (NYT)

Since the party wasn’t mentioned, and if they are Republicans, that is always noted, I came home and looked it up. Yup. Democrats. Although I suppose that is a given if the story is New Jersey, or corruption, you are to assume Democrats.
"All four members of Congress denied that ReGen’s political contributions had played any role in their efforts on its behalf with the F.D.A. and said they were merely doing their jobs by trying to help a constituent company."(NYT)
Really, is that the job of a Congressman--to help out a constituent's company? So what is the FDA's job?
