The War in Ukraine

Perhaps there will be a cease fire in Ukraine. Perhaps the killing will pause or stop. For now. But there's over a thousand years of enmity, hate and killing, and then the more deadly 20th century, to tell us it won't last. Please find a history book written before the 21st century and read it. Be prepared.

My Ukrainian supervisor at the University of Illinois Library in the mid-60s told me he'd gone to high school in 4 countries, but his family hadn't moved.

The Tucker Putin interview and the aftermath

Seems that no one (except me) thought the Tucker/Putin interview was good. Putin and all our Leftists thought they were softball questions. Sort of like the Obama interviews from ABC or CBS. It was certainly better than Biden in his basement in 2020. Others thought Tucker should have interrupted and asked different questions. Oh sure. People who ask Biden about the flavor of ice cream. Despots talk--why was anyone shocked? The history is irrelevant only if your own historical knowledge began with Obama's reign.

There are more sources for you to check. One I printed out 2 years ago was "Why is Russia Invading Ukraine?" by Leonard Hege in the "Plain News" (for plain people -- Amish, Mennonite) 3-9-2022, 5 pp. His outline was similar too, although not as detailed as Putin's. The Plain people (Anabaptists) have a history with Russian despots who sent their ancestors all over Europe, North America and South America in the 17th-20th centuries. Then I recommend Konstantine Kisin of Triggernometry podcast, a British Jew who was born in the Soviet Union and knows his history. Kisin suggests you stop listening to people who had opinions before they heard it. (he didn't like it, but I thought he confirmed much of what I heard). Since 99% of Americans know nothing of Russian history, I thought letting him talk was OK. We listen to left wing twaddle every time we turn on TV or the internet. It's not like everyone agrees.

Free market capitalism has made the whole world more rich, and U.S.A. has benefitted from that. So has Russia, but is Putin wrong to compare us to the Roman empire, whose decay just happened at a slower pace. There are many hidden warnings in what Putin said, but instead people want to hear Tucker ask different questions. And do you really not believe what Putin says about the CIA and interfering in other countries' politics when you can see, whatever your party, how powerful forces in our own government are trying to destroy one man and thus disenfranchise half the country? Putin is far more aligned, by his own analysis, with the American left than the right.

Joe Biden will never be peace broker like Clinton or Trump

The U.S. is the biggest player in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Why are we not working on a peace agreement instead of selling one country arms? Uncle Joe was so anxious to flee Afghanistan and turn over billions in materiel. Then he jumped right in another war where he had financial interests dating back to his days as vice president.

Joe Biden will never be a peace broker like Bill Clinton in Ireland or Donald Trump in the Abraham Accord. The Biden White House dismissed the historic Abraham Accord. His Crime Family doesn't benefit.

Ukraine, Russia and WW3

I love the Russian people, and I love the Ukrainian people, and it grieves me to see 2 Christian countries with its young men killing each other and bombing cities filled with civilians. It is estimated that both countries have lost more than 100,000 soldiers since February. If that doesn't make you cry for the parents, wives and children then you are cold indeed. But after the stunt that almost put us in WW3 last week, I'm so done with Zelensky. His government is turning out to be as big a fraud as the Biden Administration. US taxpayers have paid billions to "protect" Ukraine's border while our own border welcomes intruders and criminals in the name of compassion and fairness. Thousands of Americans have died from the fentanyl that comes in with the cartels using our own non-profits to feed, cloth, and transport them. Biden cut and ran in Afghanistan--ran right to a border fight that is probably 1,000 years old, between two countries that used to be one--the USSR.

I have no way to prove this hunch, but I don't think we'd be in this danger if Trump were still president (although he won't be able to stop it if he were reelected). Obama made the first fumble in 2014 with Crimea; Putin pulled back when we had a strong man in DC after the 2016 election. But when Biden showed his dimness and bumbling in August 2021, Putin took advantage. Ukraine's corruption and Biden's crime family had shown their relationship and Trump was on to that (for which he was impeached).

10/21/22:  The US economy was doing very well when Trump left office. We were energy independent, the stock market was still high, home prices were high, inflation was 1.4%, and consumers had a lot of money, and credit card use was very low. The Federal deficit was too high, but not completely out of control and unsustainable. We were still in Afghanistan holding off the terrorists and Taliban in most of the country, and the Iranians were struggling under serious sanctions. Russia was not threatening Ukraine and China was not obviously threatening Taiwan. Kim was quiescent. The US was still way ahead of the rest of the world in reducing carbon emissions and switching to gas and alternatives. In short, things in the world were OK as the pandemic was getting under control. Then Joe arrived with his band of social radicals and climate change crazies pulling the strings of the puppet. The decline of the US, and now the world, in under two years is a perfect example of how left-wing policies, and ESG, can destroy the world economy and peace in no time. How anyone can embarrass themselves and vote for Dems this election is beyond me. What is it they do not understand. The R’s will control the senate by 2-4 seats, and more governors. The wave is building again. The September inflation report was a killer for Dems. Bezos, Dimon, Bloomberg, Zandi, Interactive Brokers, and Summers all now say, the economy goes down more from here. Mortgage demand at 25 years low. The worst is yet to come. Get under the desk.

Putin's war on Ukraine is our proxy war

Why does Putin think those territories belong to Russia? We helped. Check your history books, Democrats. 

When Obama was running for re-election in March 2012, a live microphone picked up his conversation with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

"Obama told Medvedev it was important for incoming President Vladimir Putin to "give me space" on missile defense and other difficult issues and that after the 2012 presidential election he would have "more flexibility." (cns.news) No one tried to impeach him, but that message was far more dangerous and with a death toll far worse than anything Trump said to Zelensky on the phone, which he had every right to do and which was recorded live with no secrecy or whispers.

 
After Putin had that nod of approval from Obama, Russia annexed the Ukrainian territory of Crimea in Feb-March 2014 and sided with the Assad regime in Syria's civil war. It's been chaos in that region since.

 
Meanwhile, Hunter Biden got involved with Burisma for $50,000 a month, with no evidence he knew anything except his paternity. They were too smart to hand him a check--it was laundered through New York-based capital management firm Rosemont Seneca Bohai. And our media were too dumb or too bought to ever follow up on the corruption of the Biden Crime Family.

We're now in a proxy war, killing Russians and paying Ukrainians to do it.

The referendum, fair of course, in Ukraine

Putin says they have voted to be Russians--the Ukrainian territories of Luhansk and Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. Yes, we know how those middle of the night boxes arrive mysteriously full of votes. Of course, when it happens on the other side of the world instead of 8 critical swing states, the Democrats do get smart and will cry foul.

What is Ultra-MAGA?

 The Trump slogan, Make America Great Again, has always been disturbing for Democrats.  I think it was the disgraced governor of New York that said, America was never great, or was that his disgraced brother?

Democrats want to Make America Weak Again, MAWA, and they've succeeded very quickly. The recently departed (for MSM) Jen Psaki tried to pretend that Biden's Ultra-MAGA remarks were of Joe's own making, but now Washington Post reports that a Democrat focus group/marketers actually came up with that ridiculous statement which actually means make America even more great! Before we can solve anything, we need to go item-by-item to understand the insanity, incompetence, and destructiveness which historians will someday write defined the “Biden Disaster.”

Many of these will show up in future columns. Each item represents a threat to America economically, in national security, or culturally. Many will take a generation or more to recover from or solve.

This list is not in any particular order because it is so destructive – and in some cases so weird – I’m not sure a specific sequence exists. Taken together they represent a pattern that will alienate most Americans. If they come to define the modern Democratic Party, the Democrats may turn into a small minority faction for a generation or longer.

1. Inflation is out of control and about to get worse. The Biden administration’s spending policies are driving inflationary pressure as the Federal Reserve plans to expand an already bloated money supply to accommodate the left’s insatiable need for more cash. The stubborn policy against American oil and gas is guaranteeing pain at the pump and sending heating oil and fertilizer prices soaring. The loss of Ukraine and much of Russia as sources of food and fertilizer will guarantee higher food prices – which will cause more pain than gasoline prices.
2. Biden’s declaration that Putin should be tried as a war criminal feels good but is incredibly dangerous. Putin has more than 5,000 nuclear weapons, and he is adjusting the Russian economy to survive the sanctions. Biden will look impotent, and Putin will look like a vicious, brutal survivor.
3. Biden’s shallow dishonesty is further exposed by American reliance on Russia to get to a deal with Iran. The theocratic dictatorship will not deal directly with America, so our negotiations are handled through the Russian ambassador. Furthermore, the Russians are demanding we lift all sanctions on their business with Iran as a price for helping Biden get to a really bad deal with the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism.
4. Biden and the West continue to drag their feet on effective military aid to Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been Churchillian in his courage and determination. Biden is so pathetic he has made Neville Chamberlain look strong. Ukrainians die every day while American bureaucrats and politicians fail to get them the help they deserve.
5. Disney, like many large corporations, is woke at home while kowtowing to the Chinese and other dictators. The profit-over-patriotism cycle in the big corporations will presently lead to a massive popular repudiation. President Donald Trump in Michigan warned: “We should have zero tolerance for woke CEOs who get rich off the world’s worst human rights abusers abroad while they push radical politics in our classrooms here at home. Giant corporations that do business in Communist China while they attack our values here in America should face a massive and crushing tax on all profits made in China. They should lose all tax breaks and all preferential treatment under U.S. law.”
6. Biden is radically pro-transgender at the expense of women’s rights and is destroying Title IX protections for women in sports.
7. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services flew the transgender flag last week. Congress should pass a bill that only the American flag, and state or host country flags, can be flown on government property, including embassies.
8. The left is introducing bills in Maryland and California that allow babies to be killed days after they are born (28 days in Maryland’s case). Pure direct infanticide is now part of the modern Democratic Party.
9. Democratic cities and George Soros funded district attorneys continue to lead to rising crime. So, Biden nominates a Supreme Court Justice who gives light sentences to convicted pedophiles. Democrats increasingly favor the criminal over the victim and the law breaker over the law enforcer.
10. The southern border is a disaster. To be clear: This disaster is not born of incompetence and its not inevitable. The Biden administration policy is to allow the maximum number of people to illegally enter the United States. In New York City and other leftwing jurisdictions there is growing pressure to let people who are here illegally vote. The upcoming rule to drop public health requirements while Americans are still required to wear masks on airplanes is another example of the passion Democrats have for hurting Americans and helping people who come here illegally.
11. President Biden clearly has cognitive challenges. Vice President Kamala Harris is clearly cognitively hopeless (and may be the dumbest person every elected vice president).

These are dangerous times – and the problems are more historic than political.

Russia, Ukraine and Ivan the Terrible

It's been 61 years since I graduated from College and I've forgotten most of my Russian language and history. However, today I've been listening to a fabulous podcast on "The Third Rome," which is a term for the history of Christianity through the eyes of Moscow, the Third Rome. Rome fell apart sometime after the 5th c. I think through corruption, mismanagement and invasions by barbarians, and Constantinople (the 2nd Rome) was taken over by the Muslims, so the Russian Christians see the Moscovy empire as the seat of Christianity (the 3d Rome) in the 16th century. I managed 5 miles on the exercycle learning about Ivan the Terrible and Muscovite Russia. Its name is “Paradise and Utopia,” and the speaker, Fr. John Strickland serves as priest at St. Elizabeth Orthodox Church in Poulsbo, Washington, and he is part of "Ancient Faith Ministries." I've only begun to explore the web site and its riches, but the podcast on Ivan reminded me so much of Vladimir Putin. He was a defender of the faith, yet was so bloodthirsty he killed his own son in a fit of rage, had his own priests and boyars (nobles) murdered. At least he didn't tweet while in Europe. He just terrified most of the world, however. His staff must wait by the minute for the next shoe to drop. Soon he'll be Imelda Marcos with 3,000 pairs of shoes.

Fearing for the safety of Finland and the world

The history of Russia and Ukraine, as partners and as enemies

This article is from "Plain News" a paper for plain people, conservative Mennonite, Amish, Hutterite and Brethren. It's an opinion piece on what is behind the invasion of Ukraine. It has a good history going back 1000 years, and a partial motivation about the NATO policy and expansion (I don't really think that is so strong because even if Russia owned Ukraine, NATO would still be on its border just as it would be if Ukraine were part of NATO.

How Biden has failed us and helped Putin

 Ted Cruz says Biden is the best thing that ever happened to Putin.  Agreed.

Biden refuses to protect or encourage our own energy sources which could also save Europe; he allows our country to be invaded; he sat and watched as Putin threatened to pounce as soon as weather permitted; he flooded our economy with inflationary dollars using Covid as an excuse; before he took office he warned oil and gas investors he would shut them down; and he hides in his basement terrified of our homegrown global green terrorists.

Francis Fukuyama on Ukraine and the U.S. problems

I don't know if Francis Fukuyama is a liberal or a conservative, but he is an anti-Trumper and an academic who will not give Trump his due. From a Bari Weiss round table podcast with Niall Ferguson, Walter Russell Mead ,and Francis Fukuyama on Ukraine: he was alarmed by Trump supporters who believe he won in 2020, but apparently not alarmed by the chaos of BLM and Antifa taking over cities controlled by Quisling Democrats in 2020. So he thinks our divided nation is a weakness exploited by Putin (and I'd agree). Here he barely condemns Biden's weakness on protecting Ukraine, yet blames Trump for saying Putin was tough, smart opponent.

"FF: I think that many American presidents have a role in bringing us to where we were. I think that we should really begin with the Bucharest summit in 2008 [he leaves out Clinton's role], when Ukraine was first promised a NATO membership [U.S. says no, that's Putin's interpretation]. At the time, I thought that was a big mistake, because we couldn’t actually fulfill that promise. That was under George W. Bush. And I would agree with the criticisms of Obama: I think his refusal to sell weapons to Ukraine and not observing the red line in Syria were bad moves.

But I think that you guys have let Donald Trump off the hook. It’s not just that he was upset about Russiagate [which was all a hoax, but FF apparently believed the Democrats and doesn't know Hillary was behind it]. He has been issuing statements supporting Vladimir Putin from well before he was elected president [he says complimentary things about all international opponents]. Even after the invasion, he talked about Putin being a genius and very savvy. He gave a speech just a few days ago at CPAC where he attacked who as a global tyrant? Justin Trudeau—not a single word about Vladimir Putin. [Yes, we were all alarmed at what was happening in the country closest to the U.S. and Biden said nothing.] He and his followers on the right have a real affinity for strongman leadership [as opposed to the leftist 2-faced Democrats?]. That’s really what is at stake. When you go to Helsinki and you say, “I believe Vladimir Putin more than my own intelligence community,” that’s giving aid and comfort [no, it's the truth--his own intelligence community was part of the deep state]. That’s close to being treasonous, in my view [perhaps FF's favorite theories have been blown up too?].

There is good reason for Putin to think that America is weak under Joe Biden—partly because Trump hasn’t gone away after January 6, and a significant part of the Republican Party believes this lie that the election was stolen. [And Hillary still believes she was elected in 2016.] The country is seriously divided because of the failure of the Republicans to concede the peaceful transfer of power [it was divided long before that--remember when Bush was being called Hitler?]. And so if you’re Putin, you’re thinking that you can rely on your Republican friends to soften any blow. [That's ridiculous, and another lie of the left wing media who can't accept what a joke the Biden-Harris team is.]

Finally, on Biden, yes, I think that he did not do certain things [like helping Putin finance this war by not shutting off his oil]. I was very disappointed when he pulled back on trying to cancel Nord Stream 2. Really, four presidents [don't forget Clinton]  have contributed to this image of American weakness and have made mistakes on policy. But where we are right now, I think, is pretty good given, you know, given that legacy.

Poland is taking in Ukrainian refugees

When Trump went to Poland in 2017 and praised that country for its culture, Christian history and outstanding citizens, Vox and other leftist media said Trump sounded like an alt-right manifesto. When Biden praises Ukraine for its brave people defending their culture, the leftists swoon. They lied about Trump every chance they had and praise Biden for sitting on his butt buying oil from Russia while Putin surrounded Ukraine.

Have we learned nothing? On the heels of multiple deception campaigns by the United States government and media (but I repeat myself), comes a potential world war that is being cheered on by some very, very unserious people.

Caution is being thrown to the wind. This is exceedingly dangerous when nuclear fallout might be the next thing floating through the breeze.

Think that's impossible? Well, a lot of smart people told us that what is currently happening in Ukraine is impossible. Ukraine is winning the propaganda war. How nice. Meanwhile Russia is on its way to Kiev. We are only a couple days into this "military action."

At this writing, Ukraine applied to become a member of NATO. What this is, is an indirect request to have the United States join the war against Russia.

How about a no-fly zone? Again, is anyone considering the full ramifications of doing something like this? What happens when American pilots shoot down a Russian plane?

The United States needs to start production of our own drilling and OUR OWN PIPELINE. But Biden and his minions are not doing that. In fact, the U.S. government just halted drilling. John Kerry was flapping his gums about the climate -- as if that's the main concern and not DEAD Ukrainians.

There are stories coming out that Putin is "crazy." Boloney. Putin is many things: calculating, brutal, murderous, etc. but he is not crazy.

Today, the House and Senate are trying to pass a bill so that women can abort a baby throughout pregnancy and negating any state and local laws on it. There are lots of news stories afoot that aren't being covered, but are life-changingly important.

Discernment is what is needed now. Wisdom to see not just what we're told to look at but the whole picture.

Russia has a convoy rolling toward Kiev. Is this the "minor incursion" Biden envisioned? Do you trust that Biden knows what's going on?

Remember the lies of the last few years. The same people who promised that masks worked, there was Russian collusion (turns out that it was Hillary), 14 days to stop the spread, etc. are now pushing for World War III in the media.

Let's pray that NATO is up to the job, because Biden sure isn't. He left billions in matériel behind for ISIS, he's crippled our energy supply by shutting down Keystone, he's created the worst inflation in 40 years, he's weakened our military with wokeism, and did nothing but chatter and pout as Putin used Hitler's game plan of 1939. Those of you who voted for this because you didn't like Trump's strength, resolve and patriotism have helped create this disaster.

Why did he shut down our Keystone pipeline making us dependent on others and unable to export energy to European countries at risk of Russian terrorism?

Biden has a REAL Russia, Russia, Russia scandal on his hands, and not a phony baloney good times fake story passed along to the Clinton campaign in 2016. Will the legacy media remain true blue?
