Diversity used to mean people; now it means loyalty oaths and group think

“Universities started with a desire to hire African Americans, women, and other groups, to address the sadly small numbers of these on their faculties. Racial and gender discrimination being illegal, this was soon labeled a "diversity" effort. But for a long time "diversity" meant only who you hire, not their politics.

The "diversity statement" is a new effort, in which every potential faculty member must pledge their personal loyalty to the diversity movement, and pledge future activity.  They also must describe their personal experiences advancing "diversity." And they must not mention ideological or other diversity.”

This means a gay man might be denied a job if he’s a conservative; or a black woman who believes in traditional marriage might not be promoted; or a Hispanic who thinks a transwoman should not be wrestling on the women’s team could be overlooked for that coaching job.

Diversity is more than appearances

Academe, media and some woke corporations believe that diversity is a matter of skin color or biology. Not so. Sitting next to a rich Nigerian at Yale graduation isn't diversity, and hiring an Asian female retired from the National Guard should not be a check mark for government regulations.
Here's my idea of inclusion, equity and diversity (IED).
  • Spend a week or two at Walmart training a new employee who doesn't speak English and uses a wheelchair;
  • stand on your feet for 8 hours at a register in a big box store--with any ethnic group;
  • attend for a few months a Catholic mass or a Baptist revival with a colleague of that faith family if you're an atheist professor;
  • learn to work with the crew and drive one of those huge street sweepers without hitting any cars;
  • find someone on your board allergic to dogs and send her out to work at the pet rescue or pound;
  • assign your president to the library reference room for weeks to teach the elderly how to use the computer;
  • hand the CEO a set of earplugs and send him outside in the wind with the foreign workers to blow leaves for hours;
  • drive, park and unload a semi at a dollar store;
  • run on concrete floors and retrieve for immediate delivery for a full shift week at an Amazon warehouse;
  • or any job that moves you out of your comfort zone and into the real world of work. And then do it over again, and again. That IED.

IEDs blow up college costs

I have received Christmas/holiday greetings from the OSU Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer Executive Director of the Todd Anthony Bell National Resource Center on the African American Male. There may be hundreds of these administrative bloat positions at any college or university by the time you include the department level and committee level appointments plus the various centers.

Diversity, Inclusion, Multiculturalism, Microaggression, Ableism, etc.

It’s a huge industry—diversity and inclusion.  There are special reeducation camps on all college campuses, with sub-groups within departments and student organizations and this has expanded to/within corporations.   I noticed this announcement for Ohio State.  It’s like religious evangelism—in fact, it is a religion, except supported by tax dollars. Ohio State has had such an office/department since 1970—almost 50 years.  It’s almost impossible to untangle the number of staff positions and departments—there is for instance, a Council of Hispanic Organizations (UCHO) and the Hispanic Oversight Committee (HOC) at The Ohio State University. They’ve been publishing a magazine for over 25 years.

D and I essentially exists to convince people to base decisions, culture and lifestyle on how people look.

Re-education camps

Last week I wrote about a professor who had refused to attend one of those reeducation events.  Today I received an e-mail ad for one of those diversity reeducation/mind control events. I won't link to it, but the words "white men" was in the title of the organization. Somehow they had twisted research to determine how much money is lost in bullying of LGBTQ in the tech industry. Big name companies were listed which have used their events according to the PR material.

I wonder if anyone ever asks how much money is lost in bullying overweight employees or older workers or skinny men who aren't athletic, or Christians who leave due to bad jokes and slurs or janitors who don't feel appreciated. The victim industry is huge. What group/minority has ever made personal advancement in employment, social life, politics or health by always being a victim? The ones who clean up are those with moral indignation asking for your money.
