MS-13

The racism charges against Trump loomed large when he accused MS-13 gang members of being scum and thugs. I think it was Pelosi who defended them. She confused them with her Mexican gardeners (they are Honduran). Because of Covid and the general hate Trump news 24/7, I missed this. "The president also reported that, during his first term, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported over 16,000 gang members and arrested over 2,000 members of MS-13.” If you don't feel safer now, you get your level 3 "Hate-Trump" patch for your brown shirt. Next, your black Antifa uniform. Why the Left want more gang members in the U.S., I don't know.

"President Trump and U.S. officials with the Department of Justice, including Attorney General Bill Barr, held a press conference Wednesday in the Oval Office announcing the arrests of dozens of high-level members of the gang known as “MS-13.”

General Barr revealed “Project Vulcan” as a sting operation which was launched as part of President Trump’s directive to “destroy MS-13” which Barr labeled “a death cult.” "

How safe are our schools?

Highlights on school crime.  https://nces.ed.gov/pubs2018/2018036.pdf   It's decreased in this century, but would you know from the news? Reported hate-words have decreased. Would you know that from memes and posts on social media? Also, crimes among juveniles, girls and boys, have decreased 65% since 1996, and arrests significantly from 2006-2015.

  • Based on the 2017 National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), students ages 12 to 18 experienced 827,000 total victimizations (i.e., theft and nonfatal violent victimization) at school and 503,800 total victimizations away from school.
  • From 2000 to 2017, there were 153 casualties (67 killed and 86 wounded) in active shooter incidents at elementary and secondary schools and 143 casualties (70 killed and 73 wounded) in active shooter incidents at postsecondary institutions.
  • In 2017, about 6% of students ages 12 to 18 reported being called hate-related words at school during the school year, representing a decrease from 12% in 2001. This percentage also decreased between 2001 and 2017 for male and female students as well as for white, black, and Hispanic students.
  • Between 2001 and 2017, the percentage of students ages 12 to 18 who reported that gangs were present at their school during the school year decreased overall (from 20% to 9%), as well as for students from urban areas (from 29% to 11%), suburban areas (from 18% to 8%), and rural areas (from 13% to 7%).
  • During the 2015-16 school year, 47% of schools reported one or more crime incidents to police. The percentage of public schools reporting incidents to police was LOWER in 2015-16 than in every prior survey year.

Did you know--travel warning for Mexico

The United States Consulates General in Matamoros, Nuevo Laredo, and Monterrey advise American citizens that the U.S. government has received uncorroborated information that Mexican criminal gangs may intend to attack U.S. law enforcement officers or U.S. citizens in the near future in Tamaulipas, Nuevo León and San Luis Potosi. This information is being distributed to all U.S. government employees in the three states.

The aftermath thoughts

So many news reporters are filling air space about the VA Tech tragedy with phrases like "make sense of" or "moving on," or "what went wrong." The rush to judgement lesson of the Duke case has had no affect on these talking heads. They question why the police and administrators or even the victims didn't do this or that. Or whether recent handgun legislation worsed the situation. Or why the technology of jammed cell phones failed. The families of these children will never makes sense of or move on. Two of my sons died over 40 years ago and there's a part of our life that will forever be stuck in a time warp because even their not being here is a reminder that they aren't here. Like that Edna St. Vincent Millay poem.

There are a hundred places where I fear
To go, -- so with his memory they brim!
And entering with relief some quiet place
Where never fell his foot or shone his face
I say, "There is no memory of him here!"
And so stand stricken, so remembering him!

But I want to address the deaths of some other young people. Ben Stein commented in Terror in our Midst (and I haven't checked his statistics) that since 9-11 when 3,000 people died in a terrorist attack, 40,000 deaths have occurred due to gang killings--many innocent bystanders, but most are black and hispanic young men killing their own kind. These young people had families and friends too. Same age group--very different past and future.

The Imus double standard comes to mind. If the media reports what these young people are doing, they will be called racist for reporting negative things about minorities and immigrants. But aren't they racist and irresponsible if they don't? Doesn't that leave them with nothing to earn their living except Anna Nicole Smith and anti-Administration diatribes? Talk about the failure of law enforcement or security. Don't those neighborhoods deserve some safety too? Is it too hard for Chris Matthews or Diane Sawyer to go on location? Or how about Terry Moran who is such a class warfare expert. Give them combat pay and put the MSM on the front lines.
