The political bias on college campuses

Perhaps you aren't convinced college campuses are just birthing rooms for young Democrats?

"In total, Florida public college employees donated $587,454.47 from 2017-2018. Of that amount, 94.8 percent were made to Democrat politicians or Democrat organizations" and, "Employees of the University of Texas have given $1.1 million during this election cycle, more than 92% of it to Democrats." and at Yale "96 percent of these donations went to Democratic political campaigns and committees."

Of course, I think these are voluntary contributions--public school teacher unions (membership required in order to teach) give 99% to Democrats.

People are not one dimensional

So there can't be "good people on both sides?" My views on abortion are no secret, it's taking the life of the weakest and most vulnerable, yet I have friends and relatives I've known all my life who donate to Planned Parenthood AND volunteer at food pantries for the vulnerable. I watched on TV the paid harridans and harpies storming the doors of the Supreme Court over Kavanaugh's swearing in, but many Democrat women stood silently watching and grieving, not making themselves into idiots or destroying property. They'll go home, work on local campaigns and be patriotic Americans. God hears prayers from both/three/four sides. Only He knows the heart and he will judge. There are good people on all sides. Use facts, not hate. Respect our Bill of Rights.

How Google controls your information

90% of internet searches use Google, and 95% of searchers drop out after the second page.  I began blogging in 2003 and remember when my blog entries came up within the first or second page.  In the code, bloggers/web page designers put in tags that describe the most typical topics and your search picks up on that. With Google’s manipulation of search results that could never happen today.  I’m a big believer in capitalism, and the founders of Google, one of which is a Russian immigrant, have done a good job for the investors in their company.  That said, when successful companies get too cozy with the government, it’s called crony capitalism.  That’s how legislators get rich and CEOs beat back the competition by getting what looks like stiff controls, but only they are wealthy enough to meet the standards.  Any search that involves any information about the government or President Trump will bring up pages of New York Times, Washington Post (owned by another tech giant, Jeff Bezos, the wealthiest man in the country), Daily Beast, Huffington Post, and other far left media sources. This results in an informed public that has read/heard only part of the story. The conservatives then flee to other sources and also risk knowing only part of the information. When I log in, I automatically get Google News, which always leans left.  Sometimes I do click on a story, especially  if it’s none political, but then may just encourage the bias by taking the bait.

If you search anything about Trump on Google you’ll probably get referred to CNN, which falls far behind Fox in popularity and viewership. And if you are in an airport, exercise facility, or doctor’s office, good luck seeing anything other than CNN.

As expected, NYT denies any bias with Google, and instead accuses Google of different biases. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/30/technology/bias-google-trump.html

Let's educate the right, says the left

"We need to educate people on the right" said some Hollywood actor (never heard of him). Like having all broadcast media and cable news outlets, plus the major newspapers, the entire entertainment industry, political control of the largest cities, most of the colleges and universities and public libraries is just not enough for progressives/leftists.

The Grammys I didn't watch

No, I would never watch the Grammys, but I'm trying to watch the national news.  And even Fox has to show clips about every two minutes. I'm hitting the mute every chance I get. An industry that is built on merit, talent, fighting tooth and nail to win and entrepreneurial energy (from the eyebrow creator--like our niece Kimberly--to the theater designer to the pearls sewn on the designer dress to the lunch ladies) wants to destroy capitalism?

The Gramophone was invented in 1877--and that's about how useful and up to date the Progressives are. Someone needs to read about the show trials in the USSR in the 1930s.

I hope everyone in northern California is safe--there is some news between the Grammy clips.  A dam is eroding. Huge hole that needs to be filled before people drown while trying to escape.  But it's more important to show a rap group insulting the president.

Distain and ridicule for working class American voters

 Image result for voter conservative

The scorn and contempt for the working class voter by the wealthy politicians, bureaucrats and journalists were obvious in almost all the coverage I saw of the 2016 campaign, whether in the Washington Post or the digital Slate and Daily Beast. But among academics it was apparent even when I was on the faculty at Ohio State University in the 1980s and 1990s.

I was a Democrat then and thought it was just isolated incidents when my student employee would come to work and tell me how the rabid feminist literature instructor was treating him for wearing an ROTC uniform. I didn’t see it as systemic then. But the most open minded faculty from those days when Democrat to Republican was about 2:1 are now emeritus, like me, and now it’s about 27:1. It’s not that lopsided in the ACLU. It would be difficult to even get hired let alone promoted if a young college graduate student weren’t far left of center. So conservatives will just select a different career, further adding to the imbalance. No conservative (of working age) with dreams of a career in academe should ever be on social media, send a letter to the editor, speak out at a town hall, run for school board or library board, or register as anything other than Independent. Being a Catholic or a Baptist could probably kill a promising career because it might cause delicate freshmen in 2017 to need a safe place.

It isn’t enough to charge contemporary conservatives with racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. Academics have made those charges retroactive, reaching back ten centuries to include the perpetrators of European colonialism and holding all American history in contempt. The role of Arab Muslims in the Atlantic slave trade or slave raids into Europe will be overlooked in history classes. That the sex slave and labor slave trades are bigger in the 21st century won’t be covered unless it’s some way to tear down capitalism. The rate of slave ownership by freed blacks in the U.S. before the Civil War will also not be mentioned (it was higher than whites). In literature they are toppling Shakespeare and demanding queer studies after years of elevating some really poor women authors. But famous, accomplished women can be disinvited from open forums and speeches if they are conservatives, even if they are Muslim or black. All actual diversity of thought or ideology must be destroyed by the diversophiles and campus thought police.

The Republicans now control both houses in Congress, the White House, and are awaiting a decent Supreme Court appointment.  They control the majority of state legislatures and governorships.  Almost every office of importance above the municipal level has gone to Republicans--and that's Obama's legacy because it's happened in the last 8 years.  There has been a revolution, but it's been through the ballot box not marching in the streets being bussed in by professional agitators. However, it will take years to straighten out academe and they've had a lock on the brightest and best for the last 25-30 years.
