Leading from behind—the politicians on gay marriage, polygamy and legalizing pedophilia

Obama consistently supported traditional marriage and DOMA in public statements up to shortly before the 2012 election. So did Rob Portman and Hillary Clinton until the last few weeks. Used all the same words conservatives use. No one on the left called Obama or Hillary a bigot, hater or homophobe. Portman, of course, was different, he is a Republican and always was a target for hate. Politicians have led from behind, cowering, on marriage. TV and movies led the way.

Some states have no age limit for marriage if the child has parental consent. Sharia Law says girls as young as 12 can give informed consent. NAMBLA wants laws on age of consent thrown out so they can molest young boys without getting into trouble with child authorities. This can of worms will only get bigger and squishier.  Let’s see how long politicians will resist polygamy.  It’s big on reality shows like Big Love and Wife Swap.

Legalizing  molestation of children has already begun—today’s school sex education materials is what the FBI warns about in hunting down perverts. Planned Parenthood gets money to indoctrinate children into become their life time customers in the PREP program. "PP follows the same business model as a drug dealer: Young children are encouraged to masturbate and explore their bodies with mirrors to introduce them to sexuality. Hichborn says of the graphic pictures used to “educate” pre-pubescent children, “If a dirty old man showed these things to a ten year old in a park, he would be arrested. But when Planned Parenthood shows them to kids in a classroom, it gets government money.” http://www.lifenews.com/2013/03/27/obamacare-funnels-75-million-to-planned-parenthood-to-push-sex-on-kids/

What comes next?

After gay marriage legalization, the fight will be to legalize what used to be called pedophilia, but will be redefined, and then polygamy and polyandry. The law already allows (in some states) someone younger than 16 to marry with parental permission. Once same sex marriages are OK, so will young teen boys and older men; if it's OK for young girls and older men, why not? The man-boy love advocacy group is pushing for this. And our society has been softened up for several years with a reality TV show called Big Love to accept polyamory, or multiple partner families in a formal relationship (with benefits).  Our president’s father was a polygamist and his mother was only 17; is it such a huge step to see groups demanding that it is just about love for a 30 year old man with 3 “husbands” to want to take on a teen boy?

If this is about love and government benefits, what difference is the number? And although it may be awhile, there will be no compelling reason to forbid incestuous marriages--in fact, you'll be called a bigot and a sibophobe if you call it that.

The More the Merrier?

If you think you'll find a more accepting congregation when you leave your church because of the gay marriage/gay pastor controversies (it's in all churches, but our church is leaving ELCA), look what's coming down the pike. My oldest clipping in my file for the ELCA vote, which came up year after year and was voted down until last year, is 1988. So, although you think polygamy or polyandry or man-boy love or blessing your relationship with your pet who is "just like family" is far out, it really isn't. It won't stop. Biblical revision never does. And if you don't accept what God says about marriage of one man and one woman, why would you object to three men, or two men and a woman, or a man with 10 wives? If gender doesn't matter, why does number? Isn't it just about love, respect, and government benefits?

Lining up behind the gay marriage advocates

Take a good look at the polygamists you're seeing on TV and in the newspapers--the attractive, modest women, the adorable children, and the clean cut young men. They are waiting in line behind the gay activists for their opportunity to legalize their way of life. As I work my way through the Lutheran Draft social statement on human sexuality, there's hardly a line in it that couldn't be used on behalf of the FLDS culture--or man-boy love, or marrying your sister, for that matter.

Then take a second close look at the culture or sub-culture you consider normal, that you accept without thinking. You'll find a culture that over values and sexualizes very young girls, and encourages pregnancies (with free access to abortion, of course); listen to the hip-hop and rap music if you want abuse of young women; look at the clothing gay designers drape over stick thin teen models; listen to Dr. Phil or Maury Povich talking to proud, strutting baby-daddies; watch a reality TV show about girls gone wild; walk through any high school and see the young girls with eating disorders trying to look like waifs and 12 year olds; count the teens on welfare rolls--the children who will be raised with government assistance and school lunch programs by moms who got pregnant at 14 or 15 and didn't finish school; check out some movies and see how entertainment moguls, bigger slime than you see in that FLDS compound, discourage and disparage marriage--the only hope children have for a better life; then look up the senator or representative you elected and ask what s/he is doing to stop marginalizing poor women with handouts and another program to make the electorate feel less guilty.

Then go take another look at the polygamist colony run by men for men and ask yourself if what we're offering these young women is that much better.

Polygamy might be better than nannygamy

Polygamy will be the next change in marriage law. After the gays push through same sex legal unions, there will be no reason to limit it to two consenting adults, or three or even adults. They already have a political action group to decriminalize it.

Polygamy has some benefits, according to an ABC program I watched the other night about a community of polygamists in Arizona. Legally, the man (a school teacher) has only one wife, however, their community and church recognize both women equally. The younger one is hoping he'll take a third wife, because she needs some help. There are seven children, five by wife #1 and two by wife #2. The women are close friends and help each other; the older one helped the younger with a difficult birth. The older wife goes to work in an an office, while the younger one stays home to care for the children. She's pooped.

I saw an ad for a nanny in our local paper. Truly, it sounds like this family needs polygamy, a wife #2, not a nanny. Here's what "young professional couple" wants
  • nanny to work 2-3 days full time, with possible full time
  • prior experience with newborn (the "delightful" girl is 3 months old)
  • pediatric CPR training
  • First aid certificate
  • college degree
  • interest in child development
  • car
  • driver's license
  • references
  • must pass background check
  • caring, experienced and energetic personality
  • willing to do housekeeping
  • be able to cook
  • do the laundry
  • run errands
My advice to mommy (or daddy--the ad doesn't say but I suppose it could be a same-sex couple) is: stay home with the baby for awhile if you are this anal about proper child care. These are the delightful years. There's no committee meeting, conference or promotion worth missing those smiles and kisses.
