Hallelujah. Jesus is Lord

I can't verify the Hallelujah story, but it's a good one.

Erling Olsen in his Meditations in the Book of Psalms writes in 1937 (on Ps. 147, p. 1013) that the word Hallelujah (Praise the Lord) was taboo in Germany because it is a Hebrew word.

His book is enjoyable not only for all the history and analysis of the Psalms, but because he was living in and comments on the era of terrible economic depression, a time of terrible drought and crop loss, and the build up to WWII.

Hitler tried to blame all Germany's problems on the Jews and diminished them as human beings. Forbidding certain words is not new to our era--like stolen election or even an acronym like MAGA. It's typical in power grabs. Hitler considered Jews inferior to the German master race. He convinced many Germans that Jews weren't worthy of the rights enjoyed by other Germans even thought they'd been neighbors and friends for decades and centuries. That power enhancing trick is being used today by certain totalitarians in government, entertainment, business and education aided by Big Tech. Demonize Trump supporters and then on a larger scale, all white people, and on to Western Civilization and its core values. It's been a growing crescendo for at least 3 decades, maybe more. It's in "studies" curricula, "woke" speech, intersectional group speak, behavior demands, shadow banning and cancel culture. It's in the 1619 myth and in the climate change hysteria. We've been here before. The House Un-American Activities Committee lasted from 1938-1965, then got a name change. If you look at a list of the committee members in Wikipedia, by far the majority were Democrats.

Olsen says (it was a radio show later published in book form) Hallelujah is the language of heaven. Brush up on it now, he says, so you will be fluent when you get there. Olsen also warns us not to forget our knee exercises--don't forget to pray and praise. Our hearts can grow cold without praise.

Democrats seem to love Hitler

The Democrats love to compare Trump to Hitler--they also did that with Bush in the pre-Obama days of Bush Derangement Syndrome. It's like they never heard of Lenin, Stalin and Mao. And I never saw any reasonable comparison except crowds get excited at big rallies--and they did that for Obama all over the world--even in Germany in the same places they roared for Hitler. But Michael has put it in perspective. They always look for a scapegoat for their own bad behavior.

Michael Smith: . . ."instead of blaming minorities as Hitler did, Democrats blame whites. With Hitler, if you weren't patriotic, you hated Germany - Democrats believe if you are patriotic, you are a racist. Hitler sold the idea that Germany was perfect, the world outside its borders was flawed. Democrats believe the world outside America's borders is perfect, it's America that is flawed. . .

Contemporary Democrats are postmodern fabulists - they make crap up to fit their worldview and when exposed to the facts that prove them wrong, they simply ignore them or make up another fantasy. That's the only way things make sense to them. The other day, I posted the quote from Euripides, to wit: “Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" and it sure seems there is a lot of that going around."

Why do Democrats post Hitler memes?

I've got liberal Facebook Friends who keep posting Hitler memes instead of the truth, which just shows they

  • don't know much about biology,
  • don't know much about history,
  • don't know much about geography,
  • don't know about the French they took.

They think France and Poland, England and Holland where jumping the border running into German; they seem to think Germany's economy was booming; they don't know that Hitler disarmed and killed his own citizens.  The President loves Israel and is saving babies and the elderly.  That just doesn’t sound like Hitler.

And they seem to be clueless about Stalin and Mao. Poor, pitiful leftists.

Democrats’ tiresome Hitler theme

In my opinion, referring to one's enemies and petty crimes as "Hitler" or "Holocaust" or concentration camps as AOC did recently and Democrats do very often in referring to Trump is a subtle but noticeable form of anti-Semitism. It's a tiresome way to both diminish the pain of European Jewry in the 20th century and to enlarge one's outrage footprint in the 21st.

A very successful animal rights magazine "Animals Agenda" (published for 22 years) died in 2002 after it superimposed a photo of a "final solution" concentration camp with a chicken farm on its cover. But in those days, I suppose it was considered bad taste. Today, if the Left didn't have bad taste it would have nothing in its lunch box of bigotry and hate.

Communism is another terrible evil, one which the Left proudly extols even though that political/economic system killed 100,000,000 of its own citizens in Russia, China, Vietnam, Cambodia in the 20th century and is still making headway in Latin America. AOC and her ilk are silent. Like socialism, its daddy is Karl Marx. Communists had concentration camps, killed Jews, Christians and Muslims, starved people to death, destroyed cultures and economies, and turned churches into government buildings, warehouses or morgues ( Церковь Спаса на Крови), but when do Democrats call an opponent Marx, Stalin or Lenin? It's always their fallback, Hitler.

Oddly, they are obsessed with Vladimir Putin.

America’s socialists

I keep reading that 51-57% of Democrats favor socialism--more in the younger range, but enough in the 50+ to cause concern. Strange that they call Trump a Nazi. Our school system has failed them, even people my age and older who should know better, who remember Hitler, Mao and the USSR.

Socialism means the state controls the land and the means of production. The only difference between Hitler and Stalin was the length of their reach--one wanted just Europe and the other the world. Their hearts beat together. American Communists in the 1930s weren't worried about Hitler until he attacked their boy Stalin, then we entered the war.

Socialism is Communism-lite. It is a utopian philosophy that has murdered millions under cover of equality and fairness, because the individual means nothing. Bill de Blasio, Bernie Sanders, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, university administrations and faculties, certain Christian clergy and various members of the workers party of Hollywood and late night TV/ sit-coms are just fellow travelers on the path to a system that has failed in every country that got sucked in. There are millions of dead Chinese and starving Venezuelans to prove it.

Spicer's Hitler remark and "look over there" of the Trump haters

Sean Spicer, the president’s communications director, is slimed because he made a reference to 20th century Hitler’s crimes in connection to 21st century Syrian Assad.  Social media and the broadcast and cable outlets then went crazy.  Some even demanded he resign--as though Hitler were the only Socialist who killed his own citizens.  We all know Spicer was not referring to gas chambers to kill Jews, disabled, gypsies and enemies of the regime, but to the gas used as a WMD.

Why is every misstep or bad guy referred to as “Hitler” by the left--often their favorite appellation for GW Bush--when it was their team, the Communists, who killed 100,000,000 of their own citizens in the 20th century? Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, etc.  Don’t know?  Because throughout the 20th century the United States had and still has, embedded Communists in our own government.  As we entered WWII, FDR’s administration was riddled with them ignoring the slaughter going on, especially of Christians and anyone with property.

Following the collapse of the Soviet Union a commission chaired by Alexander Yakovlev reviewed archives revealing the Communist slaughter of Christians by drowning, freezing, castration, shooting, mutilation, burning, crucifixion, boiling in tar, scalping, strangling--savage atrocities killing priests, nuns, monks and faithful congregants.  The death toll was in excess of twenty million and it continued well into the 1960s.  Our leftist media, academics and politicians ignored it then and ignore or make excuses today.

In chapter 17 of a biography of Yakolev: "Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, the three creators on neo-Cainism. The main criminals of the century.  It is a lesson that many, indeed most, historians of twentieth-century Russia, have yet to learn. Yakovlev especially stressed Lenin’s role in the persecution and murder of children, a fact generally not known. The Bolshevik authorities took hostage the children of the 1921 Kronstadt rebels and later the offspring of peasants who opposed collectivization ."

Obama’s press secretary, Jay Carney, and his ABC wife Claire Shipman actually had Soviet era posters hanging in his home as art--where was the outrage?

Bloodlands -- new book on Stalin and Hitler

To the victor go the archives (or history telling), but I don't think I'll read this one. The review is stunning enough. I was surprised to learn that Germany only had a small population of Jews--about 400,000. Most of the Jews the Nazis killed were in territories controlled by the Soviet Union, however, Joseph Stalin had started what Hitler tried to finish.

National Socialism and Russian Communism were flip sides of the same coin of Karl Marx, who is alive and well in American politics of 2010. Hitler wanted to control all of Europe; Stalin all the world. When the war was over and Russia was our ally so we could defeat the Germans, FDR handed the countries Stalin had helped to decimate back to him. When we were in Estonia in 2006, the saddest thing we saw was a small museum about the Soviet occupation of Estonia. Those poor people. They kept waiting for the Americans. They were so sure they would come.

The display of strength on October 2 at the Washington Mall of the U.S. Communists was stunning. Perhaps there aren't enough people alive today who remember Russia in the 1930s and 1940s and what Communism really is.
"Among his other goals in "Bloodlands," Mr. Snyder attempts to put the Holocaust in context—to restore it, in a sense, to the history of the wider European conflict. This is a task that no historian can attempt without risking controversy. Yet far from minimizing Jewish suffering, "Bloodlands" gives a fuller picture of the Nazi killing machine. Auschwitz, which wasn't purely a "death camp," lives on in our memory due in large part to those who lived to tell the tale. Through his access to Eastern European sources, Mr. Snyder also takes the reader to places like Babi Yar, Treblinka and Belzec. These were Nazi mass-murder sites that left virtually no survivors.

Yet Mr. Snyder's book does make it clear that Hitler's "Final Solution," the purge of European Jewry, was not a fully original idea. A decade before, Stalin had set out to annihilate the Ukrainian peasant class, whose "national" sentiments he perceived as a threat to his Soviet utopia. The collectivization of agriculture was the weapon of choice. Implemented savagely, collectivization brought famine. In the spring of 1933 people in Ukraine were dying at a rate of 10,000 per day.

Stalin then turned on other target groups in the Soviet Union, starting with the kulaks—supposedly richer farmers, whom Stalin said needed to be "liquidated as a class"—and various ethnic minorities. In the late 1930s, Mr. Snyder argues, "the most persecuted" national group in Europe wasn't—as many of us would assume—Jews in Nazi Germany, a relatively small community of 400,000 whose numbers declined after the imposition of race laws forced many into emigration at a time when this was still possible. According to Mr. Snyder, the hardest hit at that time were the 600,000 or so Poles living within the Soviet Union."

Book review: Bloodlands - WSJ.com

I find it distressing that loyal party Democrats don't see who is absconding with their party. The crowd wasn't huge on October 2, but it was blantantly anarchist and communist; Democrats, particularly Jewish Democrats, need to give each other a kick in the pants, then kick out the Communists, George Soros, MoveOn dot org from their leadership.
