Democrats: Your lover lies to you

“None of the initial explanations offered by the White House and State Department since the assault on the Benghazi consulate has held up. First the Administration blamed protests provoked by an amateurish anti-Islam clip posted on YouTube. Cue Susan Rice, the U.N. Ambassador and leading candidate for Secretary of State in a second Obama term: "What happened initially was that it was a spontaneous reaction . . . as a consequence of the video, that people gathered outside the embassy and then it grew very violent."

Romney’s freedom message

The Clinton Global Initiative gives Mitt Romney a STANDING OVATION for his talk this week on sustaining economies. He begins with inspiration from the Tunisian fruit vendor whose suicide catalyzed the Arab Spring. Romney proposes solutions to despair and fanaticism. How? Job opportunities. The rule of law. Fair trade. Property rights. Prosperity pacts. "The right moral course ... Coupling aid with trade." So worth watching though 15 minutes. [Kelly Monroe Kullberg]

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney proposes linking foreign aid to economic reforms abroad at the Clinton Global Initiative meeting on Tuesday.

90% of Obama’s problems are Bush’s—he says

On 60 minutes Obama surprised even his supporters by only accepting 10% of the blame for the economy. Washington Post Fact Checker goes through this morass rather carefully and gives him four Pinocchios (the maximum), the little dummy with the long nose that grew with lies. The very long article concludes with some sadness that it is time for him to start accepting some responsibility for the mess—and the consequences of the healthcare law will be killers.

Clearly, a huge part of the deficit problem — about half — stems from the recession and forecasting errors. But Obama’s policies represent a big chunk as well. (We would welcome suggestions for fine-tuning these numbers.)

Now one could argue, as Obama’s defenders do, that his policies to combat the recession were intended to be temporary. But he has also supported permanently extending the Bush tax cuts for Americans making less than $250,000, which by itself will shrink federal revenues for years to come. That means these are no longer Bush’s tax cuts, but Obama’s.

Moreover, an important part of Obama’s legacy — the health-care law — has not even taken full effect yet. The CBO calculated virtually no impact on the deficit in the first 10 years after enactment, but all bets are off after that.

Finally, Obama claims that “we have actually seen the federal government grow at a slower pace than at any time since Dwight Eisenhower.” We regret to say that the president is repeating a widely debunked column that appeared on MarketWatch earlier this year. We devoted three columns to the column’s faulty logic, and FactCheck.org and the Associated Press also said it was bunk. (PolitiFact said it was “half true.”)

Not to get too deep in the weeds again, but the claim is based on treating 2009 (as we said, an amalgam of Bush and Obama policies) as actually Bush’s year, and then ignoring Obama’s proposed spending increases in the future. Such calculations help to dramatically shrink the growth of spending under Obama relative to other presidents.

How to keep a woman poor—government entitlements

As the above chart – via Gary Alexander, Pennsylvania’s secretary of Public Welfare — shows, the single mom is better off earning gross income of $29,000 with $57,327 in net income and benefits than to earn gross income of $69,000 with net income & benefits of $57,045.

It would sure be tempting for that mom to keep the status quo rather than take the new job, even though the new position might lead to further career advancement and a higher standard of living. I guess this is something the Obama White House forgot to mention in its “Life of Julia” cartoons extolling government assistance.

They are coming after other rights after taking this one from you

"Contraceptive and other mandates have been levied on Catholic institutions by American legislators and courts, which argue that the “right” to contraception takes precedence over religious freedom. Future government mandates are likely to include assisted suicide and recognition of same-sex marriages. By agreeing to these mandates, Church representatives risk grave imputability in the wrongs of others, as defined by canon law. Sponsors of employee benefit plans which include contraceptive coverage risk canonical penalties because payment contributions indicate immediate material cooperation with an intrinsic evil. Furthermore, by collaborating even under protest, the Church encourages further government intrusions on religious freedom. Executive summary, "Contraceptive Mandates and Immoral Cooperation" by Marie T. Hilliard, JCL, Ph.D., R.N

If you are a protestant, no one's in charge, no one will tell you about evil or collaborating with the government, so on this you may have to trust the one church with the most experience and age. But whatever direction your church takes, this isn't the end--he will come for more and more.  Don't believe me?  When was the last time your church was allowed to evangelize while feeding the poor? Teaching English to foreigners? Roofing a home in a deteriorating neighborhood?

It’s a gift basket to run against them—why not open it?

“Every Republican claims to be against "Obamacare." But "Obamacare" isn't a single issue. It's a gift basket to a Republican campaign stuffed with everything Americans hate about big government. Look, here's a punitive mandate. And here's a consolidation of power in the bureaucracy. And this greasy-palms crony capitalism should be helpful. Not to mention a trampling of religious liberty, a technocratic advisory board with authority over Medicare cuts, a heinous new tax on medical devices that starts next year, and more than 1,200 waivers issued to lucky (and mostly unionized) businesses.

The gigantic, shambling abomination that is Obamacare contains so much ammunition for conservatives that the NRA should be scoring it.”  Matt Purple

Who said pro-choice people made sense?

The Adoption Triad refers to 3 kinds of adults in a family constellation--a birth mother, an adoptive parent(s), and an adoptee (unfortunately, these cases usually leave out the birth father, although not always, and this distain for fathers has leaked into the general culture). Life issues don't always come out as you would expect. You would think all of them would be pro-life, or pro-adoption, but that's not the case. Our president is the son of an unmarried, teen mother facing great discrimination for her choice to give life to her bi-racial baby. He of all people should be pro-life, given that about 40% of abortions are for black girls and women. Some liberals hope more abortions will reduce crime and poverty. It's a high price for a little one to pay for society's mistakes and sins.

Does the government make children fat?

"With over seventeen million children living in food insecure households and one out of every three children in America now considered overweight or obese, schools often are on the front lines of our national challenge to combat childhood obesity and improve children’s overall health." From the Healthy, Hunger Free Act.

Somehow, putting "obese" and "food insecure" together clashes in my mind. Many low income children come from households blanketed with government programs. Now the schools have to undo that too? During the Clinton years, it took a village. Now it takes the USDA, HHS, HUD, EPA and Michelle Obama.

Democrat women don’t care about the last 4 years?

“We’ll continue doing what we have been doing, trying to get the president’s message out on the ground. Whether it’s in the suburban areas of Northern Virginia, or Denver, Ohio, to talk about what the president wants to do in the future. That’s the other thing that you find most often with women. They’re not really concerned about what’s happened over the last four years, they really want to know what’s going to happen in the next four years,” Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter said to guest host Susan Page on the Diane Rehm Show today.

With women like this on his staff, Obama has a War on Women with female generals. Apparently, Democrat women are too dumb to worry about the last 4 years (increasing unemployment, expanding wars, exploding middle east, inflation, rising tuition costs, declining home values, etc.) they only care about the next 4 years and getting free contraception.  Republican women, however, have a different perspective.

Ohio Voter Integrity Project

The Franklin Co. Board of Elections voted 3-0 to reject a request to remove 308 people from the list of registered voters for a variety of reasons, including being dead and empty lots for addresses. The Board hadn't yet been notified of the deaths, Ohio Voter Integrity Project was told.

Only Ohio Democrats seemed concerned that VIP might be removing people not eligible, even though the requests do not depend on party, but on correct addresses.  Every legal voter should demand clean registration rolls.

iPhone 5

The demand for iPhone is causing riots in China at Foxconn, employer of some 1.1 million Chinese workers. It also supplies products for companies such as HP, Dell and Microsoft. Have we seen that in Obama ads about jobs going overseas? No. His administration is hoping this gooses the economy.

Workers at Foxconn are so miserable there have been 17 suicides and there are nets on the buildings. Work, sleep, eat--all in the same building. I've seen factory farm chickens that look happier.

Wang Zhiqian, who used to work on Foxconn’s production line and now recruits workers for the company. “We attract many fewer workers now than in 2010. People would rather work at a hotel or other places. It’s not a lack of workers in these areas, it’s a problem of spiritual emptiness.”

Wang and others describe work days that routinely extend three hours into overtime, leaving little opportunity to do anything after hours but sleep, and little talk among the workers, who stew in their frustrations.

“It’s definitely not a happy place,” he said.

Bishop asked to suspend forums led by pro-Obama supporter

“Cleveland Right to Life has issued a formal letter to Cleveland Bishop Richard Lennon asking him to suspend the Diocese's "Faithful Citizenship" meetings on the grounds of their disregard for pro-life issues.

"As a pro-life woman and a Catholic, I am appalled," notes Molly Smith, President of Cleveland Right to Life. "Our Church is under attack by the most liberal, pro-abortion leadership in history. The Cleveland Catholic Diocese is missing a great teaching and unifying opportunity by responding in this manner."

Faithful Citizenship meetings were organized by the Diocese of Cleveland with the goal of aiding Catholics in preparing themselves to vote this November. The forums, led in part by open Obama-supporter Karen Leith, downplay abortion and religious freedom, issues of irreducible importance to Catholic voters.

Incumbent President Obama is undoubtedly the pro-abortion candidate on the ballot for November's presidential election, having supported more initiatives to increase abortion than any other president and having worked hand-in-hand with organizations like Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America. The Faithful Citizenship meetings disregard the pro-abortion stance of both President Obama and Senatorial Candidate Sherrod Brown.

Ohio Right to Life and Cleveland Right to Life ask that all pro-life Ohioans stand together in asking that the Bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland defend life in this crucial time leading up to what will be a pivotal election for our country.”

What is this called?

100_2650

It’s a kitchen tool from my stove drawer, and I think I’ve had it at least 51 years.  I think its purpose is to remove hot things from water—like baby bottles being sterilized—something we used to do, when we moms made formula.  For the last few decades I’ve only used it occasionally—probably for salads or to pull something hot out of the oven or microwave. But I don’t know what it’s called.

I was watching YouTube and an OB-GYN, Dr. Levantino, speaking on Priests for Life while rather drily describing a 2nd trimester abortion (D & E), of which he’d done several hundred. He was using fetal models, but had the actual tools to dilate the cervix and invade the uterus (that’s a medical term—invade—not kidding).  My tool has some semi-sharp teeth for griping, but his were very pointed and sharp  and straight,  less curving.  He described going into the uterus with the tool, grabbing an arm or leg of a living baby with those sharp teeth, all by feel since he can’t see what he’s doing, and twisting and pulling, until a little arm or leg came out. The limb or heart or lung was then laid on a tray because after the abortion, all the pieces had to reassembled or the woman/girl could hemorrhage.

I don’t think I’ll use this tool again.

How many pro-choice voters, who send donations to Planned Parenthood, the largest provider of abortions in the U.S.,  know what goes on during an abortion?  The doctor said sometimes he pulled out a little face that was looking back at him.
