RGB on population control

Ruth Bader Ginsberg, channeling Margaret Sanger: “Yes, the ruling about that surprised me. [Harris v. McRae – in 1980 the court upheld the Hyde Amendment, which forbids the use of Medicaid for abortions.] Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of. So that Roe was going to be then set up for Medicaid funding for abortion. Which some people felt would risk coercing women into having abortions when they didn’t really want them. But when the court decided McRae, the case came out the other way. And then I realized that my perception of it had been altogether wrong”

Roe v. Wade and the budding environmental movement/ population bomb fears of the 1970s met and wedded. It's not really about "women's health."

RNC and pro-life message

The four day RNC was not just the most pro-life political convention ever, it was the most pro-life EVENT ever on television. From the former Planned Parenthood staffer Abby Johnson, who became an advocate for life and now has a non-profit to save babies, to the former military surgeon who has saved lives of soldiers and refugees and became a nun, Sister Dierdre Byre, who now saves babies, to the Ohio mother, Terri Myers, who was advised to abort her child with Down Syndrome and is now an advocate for school choice, to the general tone and respect for women who refuse to back down on the values--it was breath taking, glorious, and unheard of.

I was very fond of President George Bush, and he was a "pro-life president," but sort of in the closet when it came to public events. He didn't appear at them. And pro-lifers themselves had been letting the Leftist culture dictate how and what they said--didn't want to ruffle too many feathers, or get too graphic.

President Donald Trump just charges ahead--wants to defund the biggest killer of black babies, appoints women openly pro-life, and allows the actual, grizzly and anatomically correct truth to be told at an event where half the country already hates and lies about him.

Shocking. The man is a modern version of an Old Testament prophet. No one wants to hear the truth, but he says it anyway.

And although it's scandalous and racist to say in today's hyperbolic, hysterical and turned upside down world, all lives matter to Donald Trump.

In Mayor Pete’s little town

“Had they not been aborted, the 2,411 children whose tiny bodies will be laid to rest on Wednesday would now be in their late teens,” Scheidler said. “They’d be finishing high school, starting college, entering careers, planning for their futures. Instead, they will be buried, nameless and unknown — the only act of justice we can offer them.”

Found in a garage in South Bend, home of Mayor Pete.

Lies continue daily about the pro-life movement

On Facebook, a friend of mine from childhood, who doesn’t vote, listens to the main stream media for news, and quotes the Bible selectively claims that pro-life people don’t care about children after birth.  What an outrageous lie. Basic pro-choice talking points written by Planned Parenthood.  My response:

Who told you that? CNN? MSNBC? Who do you think are funding all the agencies that help children who escape the siren call of Planned Parenthood? Pro-Life people, primarily Christians.

Have you ever visited a pregnancy center that saves children, gives the mothers counsel, maternity clothes, job training, parenting lessons, clothes for the children, referrals to social agencies, bus passes to clinics and hospitals--all free and with all volunteer labor? They also provide mentors and send teams into the schools to teach the basic facts of life and social skills because so many kids don't have functioning families.

Do you know what the largest social safety net in the world is? The Catholic church. Then if you combined that with all the 35,000 Protestant denominations who feed, educate, train, adopt, foster and provide health care to the poor, it would way out perform what the government does--and at no cost and with volunteers who can witness about God's love just as Jesus said in Matthew 25. People who criticize (and lie) about what the church does are afraid someone might witness to a hurting soul who's never met Jesus.

Some Christians who know selective Bible passages don't know the good that goes on in their own community and state in the name of Jesus.

Illinois is the shame of the nation

I’ve looked over the latest abortion initiative for Illinois and am shocked and horrified. Particularly at the cheering! What has happened to the people? It is now the most radical, the bloodiest, the most dangerous (to women), the most ghoulish, and deeply disturbing abortion legislation in the nation. God have mercy on the people who came up with this evil. https://www.liveaction.org/news/illinois-house-passes-abortion-worse-new-york/

There was a time when only a man called Obama of all the local, state and federal politicians supported (publicly) such radical, anti-human and anti-humane actions. Now it’s half the nation. What a legacy. And what has Illinois given the nation.

On the radio today I heard a broken hearted director of a pro-life pregnancy center in Illinois—they counsel women in bad situations, give them material aid, education and employment opportunities and save their babies—say that she and her husband have moved to another state rather than pay Illinois taxes,* and she is doing her job at a distance, trying to keep a brave face for her staff and volunteers.

* I think your state taxes follow you even if you move to Tennessee but earned it in Illinois, so she’ll probably be looking for work.

Uber ridiculous!

A homeless man who finds a bag of puppies and rescues them is called a hero, but an Uber driver who won't assist in an abortion is fired and the client wants to sue him.

Poor snowflake. Planned Parenthood just didn't fit her schedule, and when Uber-moral guy said no to the trip when he found out where she was going, and she actually had to call her boyfriend to complete the dirty deed. I think the Uber driver was a hero, the boy friend was a jerk, and Uber is a crappy company if this is how they treat their drivers who have a shred of decency. Are Uber drivers obligated to take a drunk client to a bar? Should an Uber driver be required to take a prostitute to a destination to meet her client?

Catholic hospitals and life issues

JAMA publishes little research blurbs either too short or too weak for prime time in the back of the journal as "Research Letters." March 19, 2019, vol. 321, no. 11 has one that Catholic hospitals should note. . . they are coming for you. First an ominous note on how Catholic hospitals increased by 16% between 2001 and 2011, and then a search to see if Catholic hospitals mentioned in their websites and mission statements that they were Catholic, so patients knew ahead of time about the Church's moral teaching on the "reproductive" and end of life care.

I make 2 observations here. One would have to know zip nada zilch about Christianity and Catholicism to miss it since 79% had the word "Saint" in their name. And 77% of the ones that didn't have Saint, had Jesus, Christ, or Gospel in their name. And if you don't know the Catholic Church's position on contraception, sterilization, abortion and euthanasia, you really should, since it's about the only church in America that actually has strong documents on life issues.

Also, the paper was funded by a grant from the Society of Family Planning, an organization that advocates for abortion and contraception and which is lobbying for new guidelines for facilities (clinics, offices) that offer abortions (or maybe in this case working up to battling facilities that DO NOT offer abortions).

Also, 3 of the 6 the articles cited are by one of the authors, Maryam Guiahi who seems very concerned about Catholic hospitals and "reproduction." I looked up her name, and found a much more extensive article on this topic (it's common to reuse and massage information so you can show more publications on your vita). In another one of her articles, "Mystery callers phoned 144 clinics nationwide that were found on Catholic hospital websites between December 2014 and February 2016, and requested appointments for birth control generally, copper IUD services specifically, tubal ligation and abortion." When pro-life people do that sort of research, they end up in court and sometimes jail.

She has a cottage industry in just her many publications for finding "concerning" behavior and rules in Catholic hospitals. The Left has driven the Catholic Church out of the adoption business; it wouldn't surprise me if her research is much more sinister.

Never mind, it wasn’t a baby. Stop grieving.

OK, parents, time to stop grieving for that lost child from 1964 or 1980 or last week. It wasn't a baby, you didn't love her, and that red hair and sweet little toes were just in your imagination. She wasn't human and she wasn't your long awaited daughter. New Yorkers believes that. Wait a few years and they'll say the same thing about your toddler.

https://www.lifenews.com/2019/01/16/new-york-bill-allowing-abortions-up-to-birth-says-a-person-is-only-a-human-being-who-has-been-born/?

The “Reproductive Health Act” redefines a “person” as “a human being who has been born and is alive,” according to Breitbart. The state bill also describes abortion as a “fundamental right.”

This language will allow unborn babies to be aborted for basically any reason up to birth in New York. It looks like it will pass in the new Democrat-controlled state legislature this winter. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has threatened to hold up the budget until it does.

The legislation goes beyond Roe v. Wade, allowing abortions even when the Supreme Court has said states may regulate them, according to the pro-life leaders. Late-term abortions, which currently are illegal in New York, would be allowed, and non doctors would be allowed to perform them.

Post abortion recovery

On today’s prayer list (via e-mail) from PDHC, I noticed a request for the 8 women participating in the post abortion recovery program, Living in Color—to pray for restoration, healing, and growth in their faith . So I looked that up to see if it were local or national. Post abortion means 10-20-even 50 years later.  Did you know post abortion women are at risk for death—not from the procedure but from homicide, suicide and disease?  There’s something in nature that doesn’t support abortion.  There is a terrible sadness that boomerangs after the initial sense of release and resolving a difficult situation.

Living in Color (2nd Edition) is a post-abortion recovery and healing program designed for use by a small, facilitator-led support group. However, it is equally suitable for a person making her recovery journey alone, or in the company of a mentor, pastor or counselor. A Living in Color Facilitator's Guide is available for those leading support groups from www.pregcare.com. Dr Theresa Burke coined the phrase "forbidden grief" to describe the sadness and pain felt by many women following their abortion decision. This pain is seldom confined to the loss of a child: many also lose relationships, self-worth and hope for the future. These losses must be grieved and, as with all grieving journeys, this involves processing emotional responses such as relief, denial, guilt, shame, depression, anger and forgiveness. The post-abortive woman also needs to allow herself to "know" her child in order to say "goodbye for now." Having processed her grief, it is important to pay attention to what comes next. Many women discover that their healing journeys teach them many life lessons that contribute to increased strength of character, wisdom, vision and hope. The final chapter of the program celebrates the process of emerging from the "grey zone" of unresolved loss into a life of color, freedom, and joy.  https://www.amazon.com/Living-Color-goal-post-abortion-recovery/dp/1453656596

Trudeau trashes pro-life supporters at town hall

“Justin Trudeau, Canada’s radically pro-abortion prime minister, blasted pro-life advocates Wednesday amid a nation-wide outrage about barring pro-life groups from a federal grant program.”

https://www.lifenews.com/2018/01/12/canadian-prime-minister-justin-trudeau-trashes-pro-life-people-youre-not-in-line-with-society/

Canadian taxpayers pay about $200 million a year to support the youth-based program, which provides funding for businesses and non-profits to offer temporary summer jobs to youth ages 15 to 30. It is a way the government encourages young people to get hands-on training before entering the workforce full-time.

The new 2018 grant application requires groups to say that they respect “reproductive rights,” including abortion on demand, as one of their core values. Groups cannot submit the online application unless they do, according to the Post.

Canada has some of the most pro-abortion laws in the world, allowing abortions for any reason up to birth and forcing taxpayers to pay for them in many cases. Common sense regulations such as parental consent for minors, waiting periods, informed consent and other basic measures are non-existent. Many of its provinces now force taxpayers to pay the full cost of abortion drugs for women.

Defending life

There will be those who believe it's right to reverse a drug overdose (a choice), or that a woman should be able to take male hormones under the delusion she is a gay male while pregnant, but question whether reversing a chemical abortion violates a woman's choice. A doctor actually had to defend this life saving method.

https://www.lifenews.com/2018/07/20/woman-takes-abortion-pill-to-kill-her-twin-babies-pro-life-doctor-saves-them-before-it-can-take-their-lives/?

Are you contributing to early deaths of women?

Planned Parenthood does about 320,000 abortions a year, more than any other group in America, and its new CEO says she wants to expand abortions across the U.S. If they were really an ethical organization (unfortunately they get our tax money which is then laundered to support Democrats) with the best intentions for women, they would be working to reduce abortions, not increase them. The death rate from all causes, including homicide and suicide, is higher for women who have abortions, and increases with each abortion.

https://academic.oup.com/eurpub/article/23/4/569/427991

“Risk of death was more than six times greater among women who had never been pregnant compared with those who only had birth(s). Increased risks of death were 45%, 114% and 191% for 1, 2 and 3 abortions, respectively, compared with no abortions after controlling for other reproductive outcomes and last pregnancy age. Increased risks of death were equal to 44%, 86% and 150% for 1, 2 and 3 natural losses, respectively, compared with none after including statistical controls. Finally, decreased mortality risks were observed for women who had experienced two and three or more births compared with no births. “

Giving life to another has a protective affect on women.

UMC “minister” in West Ohio Conference blesses abortion clinics

laurayoung  “This year, [Laura] Young, a United Methodist minister in the West Ohio Conference, was assigned by Bishop Gregory Palmer to serve as executive director of the Ohio Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. The coalition, which had gone about two years without a director, had fallen largely quiet. Young aims to change that.

Calling herself a “progressive theological thinker and a feminist,” Young said goals include encouraging clergy members to testify at legislative hearings on anti-abortion bills and advocating for organizations that provide women’s health care, including abortions and contraception.”

When we rent our cottage at Lakeside for West Ohio, we’ll have to put a qualifier besides “no pets.” No Methodist ministers who advocate for abortion.

And this empire was started by a nun from Akron, Ohio in 1981

"Boldness should be the eleventh commandment."
- Mother Angelica

“EWTN Global Catholic Network, in its 38th year, is the largest religious media network in the world. EWTN’s 11 TV channels are broadcast in multiple languages 24 hours a day, seven days a week to over 300 million television households in more than 145 countries and territories. EWTN platforms also include radio services transmitted through SIRIUS/XM, iHeart Radio and more than 500 domestic and international AM & FM radio affiliates; a worldwide shortwave radio service; the largest Catholic website in the U.S.; electronic and print news services, including Catholic News Agency, the National Catholic Register, and several global news wire services; as well as EWTN Publishing, its book-publishing division.”  (http://www.ncregister.com/daily-news/ewtn-wins-lawsuit-over-hhs-contraception-mandate)

The reason I describe EWTN and its importance in religious media is because the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit issued an order Thursday vacating a 2014 district-court decision against the Eternal Word Television Network in its lawsuit against the so-called contraceptive mandate issued by the Department of Health and Human Services. The order follows a settlement between the network and the Department of Justice reached Oct. 5.

The specifics of the contraception mandate of the “Affordable Care Act” were not included in the original bill, but were announced in January 2012 by then-HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. Obama promised EWTN and other religious groups there would be an exception made for them. He lied.  Imagine the money they’ve had to spend just so they didn’t have to provide birth control and abortions for staff.

Seven years!
EWTN Wins Lawsuit Over HHS Contraception Mandate
IRONDALE, Ala., Nov. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Following a  legal battle that has lasted nearly seven years, EWTN Global Catholic Network has prevailed in its lawsuit against the U.S. government over what has become known as the "HHS Contraception Mandate." In an order by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit published Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, the court vacated a June 2014 decision against the Network by U.S. District Court Judge Callie Granade. The ruling by the appellate court follows an Oct. 5, 2018 settlement agreement between EWTN and the Department of Justice. Under terms of that settlement, the Network will not be required to provide contraception, sterilization and abortifacients in its employee health plan, something EWTN found morally objectionable.

And finally some common sense from Washington.
The Departments of Health and Human Services, Treasury, and Labor released two updated rules concerning conscience protections for organizations and individuals in relation to the HHS contraception mandate. We once again are protected by the First Amendment from an over reaching federal government.  Until the next law suit.

Yes, 9 month abortions do happen

Abby Johnson used to work for Planned Parenthood, and she also had two abortions herself.  Now she is a Christian and has a ministry to save other women from her mistakes--both working for abortion or having abortions.  Here's what she says about nine month abortions. https://www.facebook.com/abbyjohnsonprolife/posts/1330729393603797

"Yes, late term abortions do take place through the entire third trimester, including through the 9th month of pregnancy. According to the latest data, about 18,000 3rd trimester abortions are performed every year.
These abortions can be performed for the "life or health" of the mother. What this means is that a late term abortion can be provided for any reason, as long as the doctor checks a box on her chart stating it was affecting her "life or health." No documentation of proof is required.

According to several former late term abortion clinic workers who have come through ATTWN, [And Then There Were None] approximately 50% of 3rd trimester abortions are performed on healthy babies. In my own personal experience, we often referred women to late term providers who were pregnant with healthy babies...they wanted the abortion because they had just broken up with the baby's father, or because they lost their job or something similar.

FACTS about late term abortion:

Since the ban on Partial Birth Abortion, abortionists have come up with a different method...believe it or not, a more dangerous method for the woman.

When a woman comes in for a late term abortion, her cervix is dilated through the administration of one of two medications called misoprostol (cytotec) and pitocin and/or laminaria/lamicel insertion. Laminaria are made of sterilized seaweed and look like tiny tampons. Lamicel are similar, but made of a synthetic material. The misoprotol is taken orally prior to surgery and may take several hours to work. Misoprostol is a medication administered to relax the cervix muscle so that the surgeon can dilate it easily. Pitocin is also used sometimes to help with this process and is administered through an I.V.

If laminaria or lamicel is necessary to complete dilation, they must be inserted into the patient’s cervix by the physician prior to the abortion procedure. The laminaria/lamicel act like sponges by absorbing the moisture in the patient’s vagina and expanding to gently open the cervix.

Laminaria/lamicel and misoprostol will be administered on day one. Also, on day one, the physician will also administer a medication called digoxin. This medication will be injected into the amniotic fluid. The fetus will then drink in the digoxin and will overdose in the womb. It can take up to 48 hours for death to occur. During this time, the mother may feel her child struggling to die in her womb.

On day two or three, the physician will perform the surgical abortion after dilation of the cervix is complete—this may take several hours or overnight. The doctor will remove the laminaria (if applicable) insert a speculum into the vagina, and remove the unborn child using vacuum aspiration (suction), forceps and curettes. The surgical procedure takes approximately 10 – 25 minutes. After surgery, the mother is taken into the recovery room, where nurses will monitor her for approximately 45 minutes.

You can find statistics on late term abortion at www.guttmacher.org. You can also find a detailed description of late term abortion procedures on various abortion provider websites such as www.drhern.com"

Ignorance about abortion, on both sides

This was written by Abby Johnson who runs a non-profit, And then there were none, to help former abortion workers, of which she was one. She has also had abortions, and is also a Christian.
"Yes, in the United States, a woman can get an abortion until the date of birth. There are several providers who will perform abortions in the third trimester. Many believe that these abortion law only take place for severe fetal anomaly, but that is not the case.

We had a worker leave not too long ago from a late term abortion provider. She said that if they were going to do 10 abortions a day, 8 of them would be past 26 weeks. And out of those 8, 6 would be completely healthy babies.

The laws allow for abortion into the third trimester for physical AND emotional health. What that means is that a woman can walk into a late term abortion provider and state that she is emotionally distressed about her pregnancy and that will be a legitimate excuse (under the law) to terminate her pregnancy up until the date of birth.
States can legislate to protect babies from abortion in the third trimester. However, there are several states that have absolutely no laws on the books regarding late term abortion.

The bottom line is that healthy babies are killed every day up until the date of birth in the United States. This is what our current laws allow. But in the end, there is no difference in the humanity of a child at 8 weeks compared to a child at 30 weeks. If we are willing to brutally murder an innocent child in the womb during the first and second trimesters without batting an eye, it should be no surprise that we can kill them at any age."
After reading this, are you still "pro-choice," and do you still support Planned Parenthood?

Trump on abortion and punishing the woman

It's like the "when pigs fly" question. I'm strongly pro-life. Met (on the internet) yesterday a 70 year old pastor adopted at birth who was the result of incest/rape, a story of how God brings something good out of evil like Joseph being sold by his brothers and later saving a whole nation. So I don’t make exceptions to kill the baby for the man’s crime. However, “IF abortion becomes illegal,” will never happen, and that was Matthews question. And when it was illegal up to the 1970s, all those ridiculous stories about women dying in back alley abortions were just that, and the movement has admitted the phony statistics because the ends justified the means. Trump stepped into a gotcha question—in his thinking, and most who claim to be conservatives, if you violate a law, you pay for it. Except you really don’t. I’m guessing he doesn’t either as a business man. How many rich kids go to jail for marijuana possession, or a heroine overdose, and how many CEOs go to jail for cooking the books. Did President Clinton go to jail for having sex with a staff member, which in most companies would have at least cost him his job, laws put in place by progressives wanting to protect women from aggressive bosses.

Everyone who participates in an abortion is killing a living human being—the parents, the abortionist, the nurse, the clerk who does the paper work, the friend who drives the mother to the clinic, the donor who helps pay the bills, the legislator who made it possible, the pharmaceutical company who makes the drugs or company who creates and sells the special equipment. Even the insurance company which covers it (many churches have this coverage for their staff). Right now it is legal to do that. But whether or not they will ever be prosecuted in the U.S. in anything but their own soul, can’t even be imagined.

The law is over 40 years, and you can’t go back. There are millions of women who regret their abortions (and probably just as many who don’t), and only through God’s forgiveness for what they have done can they be whole. It is estimated over 60% are pressured into it, by boyfriends, parents, or peers, and in my opinion, they need to do some soul searching also.

Why legal abortion is the main cause of family breakdown

http://eppc.org/publications/social-and-economic-costs-of-legal-abortion/

The author writes: Fifteen years ago I published a paper on the “Socioeconomic Costs of Roe v. Wade.”  In it, I estimated the impact of legal abortion in reducing the U.S. population (about 20% so far) and concluded, “taken in its entirety, legal abortion is perhaps the single largest American economic event of the past century, more significant than the Great Depression or the Second World War.”[6]

  • legal abortion is single-handedly responsible for the prospective deficits in the pay-as-you-go social security retirement system,[7] and
  • suggests that legal abortion was also directly responsible for the 1970s and 1980s rise in crime rates.[8]

October was Respect Life Month

At least for Catholics.  We didn’t hear that at our Lutheran church.

Jesus said, “I came that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)  Today there are Christians who don’t see that statement of Jesus extended to the unborn.

  • Defenders of life are vilified in our culture; we’re troublemakers who don’t want the best for women (even though over half of the aborted are female).
  • Defenders of life are called anti-science for not wanting embryos used in medical labs, or body parts of fetuses sold for medical research.
  • Defenders of life are called haters and homophobes for defending marriage.
  • Defenders of life are out of step with the culture because casual fluid relationships are not acceptable to us.
  • Defenders of life are hassled by the pro-euthanasia crowd because assisting the sick and dying is just too hard for people.
  • Defenders of life are called stingy if we don’t want our tax dollars supporting Planned Parenthood’s slaughter houses.
  • Defenders of life are told, even by our President, that “black lives matter,” but not that “all lives matter,” even the weakest who cannot speak for themselves.

Defenders of life are called by Christ to be the counter-culture.

(HT David Garick, editor, Catholic Times, Diocese of Columbus)
