1071 What's wrong with this sentence?

Yes, it's a play on words, but read it anyway.

"Lionel Tate, 18, who was freed from prison after being the youngest person in recent history to receive a LIFE SENTENCE [for beating a 6 year old girl to death when he was 12] was arrested after allegedly pulling a gun on a pizza delivery man at a 12 year old friend's apartment and beating up the friend. . . " USAToday May 25, 2005

Mama and those who lobbied for an early release, of course, don't believe he'd do that; and apparently neither did the court system that put him under house arrest and on parole for 10 years after serving very few years of that "life" term (sentenced in 2001).

Oh My, I read this yesterday in the paper. I couldn't believe it! The pic they had of this kid in the paper, he looked as if he could care less. I work in a police dept and I see the repeat offenders get off and continue their dysfunctional behavior over and over. Their whole family comes to bail them out. The kids get off and high five each other in our lobby. It's unbelievable!

In your position, you must see a lot. How he can get 'Life' and then serve less than 4 years, I don't understand. Was that little girl's life worth nothing?
