Violent crime rates going down

Fifteen unarmed black men were shot by police last year (and that usually doesn't happen unless a crime is taking place). However, about 48 police were killed by criminals (40 white, 7 black, 1 Asian). Obviously, since the number of police is far smaller than the number of young men (the usual demographic), the rate of violence against police is far greater than rate of force against men (usually men). These figures are always disputed, and for some reason the hyperbole is based on total population of blacks (13%) rather than the demographic of 17-40 . And if you want demographics, Hispanics, which is the largest minority in the country, generally have lower crime rates than either whites or blacks.

 Checking victim rates makes more sense--victims are all ages and sex and race. NCVS statistics identify the victims and the offenders. Black victimization is far higher in number and rate, even with a much smaller population. And usually the offender is the same race, and victims can identify them.
The overall rate of violent victimization from 2005-2019 fell 26% (from 28.4 to 21.0 victimizations per 1,000 U.S. residents age 12 or older). However, the rate fell more for blacks (43%) than whites (24%) . Ask yourself, why defund the police if they've been able to reduce the death and violence among blacks? Sounds like another anti-black plan of the Democrats.

Is this crime decrease ever celebrated? That crime has gone down for all races under 3 difference Presidents? Democrats will never concede this. It doesn't fit their narrative that the U.S. is a dangerous, racist, hateful place.

How riots fit in with BLM sympathy and support

A police officer is 18 1/2 times more likely to be killed by a black male than an unarmed black male is to be killed by a police officer.” Heather MacDonald, via Larry Elder.

With the media's assistance, the black men who have been shot by police--those in the news in 2020--have all had criminal records, have been resisting arrest, and had very serious records, including rape with robbery (several charges by the same woman) in the case of Jacob Blake, Jr. of Kenosha. Not a peep from the MeToo crowd who usually would ruin a man’s career based on a smack on the rear because the founders of Black Lives Matter are radical feminists.

The 3 men who were attacking Kyle Rittenhouse during a "peaceful protest" and were shot by him, a 17 year old, also had criminal records including sexual offense against a child, strangulation and weapons charges. These were not 3 good guys just helping out the community. If Rittenhouse had been black, I doubt we would know his name, but 2 of the 3 would still be dead. Media would get nothing out of that story and it certainly wouldn't fit the BLM narrative.

Police nationwide have close to a million contacts a year with the public who might be misbehaving in some way, whether speeding, disorderly and drunk, domestic abuse, or theft. In 66 years of driving, I've been stopped 2 times for speeding (45 in 35 mph zone) and once for wrong way to get away from a traffic accident. I have been at fault each time and didn't assume it was something about my physical appearance that created the problem. I wasn't drunk or high and didn't have a record, I was just wrong. so I just paid my fine. In keeping us safe, there are some confrontations with police that go badly--but more with whites than blacks and whites are shot at a higher rate. When a white man with a criminal record is shot resisting arrest or trying to kill police, it does not cause riots and looting. It serves no cause to do so.

Why do the media promote black criminals as victims and heroes? Why does the left push this narrative of the innocent (usually a man) black oppressed by the evil "man." Because the public is gullible--and for 3 or 4 decades the schools, churches, and entertainment industry have been pushing the lie. They are believing what they've been taught.

Based on population percentage and rates, blacks more likely to be victims and assailants. The 2019 half year report showed violent crime was decreasing, as it was in 2018. Well, that record won't stand because certain groups don't want less crime, safer neighborhoods, lower unemployment and more opportunity for minorities.

It’s not about change, or even revolution

If you thought BLM and ANTIFA wanted change, you are wrong. They want chaos. And here's the proof. Their riots were preceded by unprecedented change, with record low unemployment, increased college enrollment and the highest opportunity ever for minorities. That had to be destroyed.

In 2018, the combined state and federal imprisonment rate (431 sentenced prisoners per 100,000 U.S. residents) was the lowest since 1996.

The total imprisonment rate fell 15% from 2008 to 2018.

From 2008 to 2018, the imprisonment rate dropped 28% among black residents, 21% among Hispanic residents, and 13% among white residents.

Joe Biden has saved many Black lives.

A total of 194 shooting incidents involving black victims occurred in New York City in June, a 177% increase from the 70 recorded in June 2019, according to the New York Police Department. The BLM movement and its liberal apologists in white suburbia are taking black lives, particularly young people, at an alarming rate. It sounds terrible, but the violence is still lower than in the early 1990s when the 1994 omnibus crime bill cracked down on violence, giving the states federal money for more police and equipment, and the streets of the major cities became safer by half. Violent crime rate was 757.7 per 100,000 in 1992, and 368.9 per 100,000 in 2018. That was an uptick from 361.6 in 2014.

Many people, both parties (and especially Harris and DeBlasio), have blamed Biden, who advocated for the crime bill. They don't give him credit for the thousands of black lives saved over a 30 year period, because the crime rate for blacks is about 6x higher than whites, therefore, the criminals incarcerated during those years, where not killing other black men. Also, the incarceration rate had been going up for many years before the crime bill. And "experts" (sort of like "scientists") don't agree on why the crime rate was halved. "Restorative justice" (i.e., ignore the crime based on race like the Parkland school shooting) people want to blame the law for high rates of black criminals in jail, but they don't want to credit it for saving black lives.

As Senate Judiciary chairman, Biden was a prime mover of the 1994 law, promising that "there will be fewer people murdered," and "fewer children will be turning to crime." (Politico) And he was. His efforts saved lives. But times have changed. His legacy must be denied to get him elected.

This is not to say that Joe Biden should be president for something that harmed/helped Blacks in 1994, only to say his party is a bunch of hypocrites who have so much hate for President Trump they will continue to lie, cheat and steal to get him out of office.

This may be the strangest virus regulation I've ever seen.  Whites must wear masks, but not blacks, to prevent racial profiling?  Doesn't this mean you can spot the blacks easier and thus profile? https://nypost.com/2020/06/23/oregon-county-issues-face-mask-order-exempting-non-white-people/  Like millions of other people, I then googled Lincoln County, Oregon, and see it has a population under 50,000 and is about .6% black.  Well, some counties need more publicity than others, and other than being a laughing stock, I suppose this did it. So then I looked at crime rates in Oregon and discovered some very small towns had violent crime rates higher than the national average. Perhaps this is an backassward method of crime control?

Because black lives matter

So the angry protesters/rioters have moved on from the myth of "systemic racism" to "defund the police." And liberal whites are helping endanger the black neighborhoods in misplaced guilt. Even those who stayed home in the comfort of their privileged man-caves, are cheering the rioters on. Oh so brave, those white liberals. The limp, weak blue boy-mayor of Minneapolis had to leave the protest in disgrace because he would NOT agree to defund the Minneapolis police, ONE of which killed a suspect who had become unreasonable (autopsy showed drugs) while trying to pass a counterfeit bill.

Let's see how that works:

• No police when a woman is assaulted or raped.
• No police when homes and apartments are broken into and granny's TV and cell phone are stolen in a sweep for a few dollars for drugs.
• No police to investigate the child pornography ring preying on the most vulnerable.
• No police to call when mom's purse is snatched while she's looking at the fruit display at the Korean market.
• No police to stop the speeders going 90 mph near your child's school.
• No police to rush into a bombed building to carry our survivors.
• No police to keep the neighborhood businesses and grocery stores safe and accessible.
• No police to call when your sister is patiently waiting in line at the bank and some goons rush in claiming her rights don't matter, only theirs.
• No police to direct traffic and walk the perimeter of the sports or music venue so the privileged masses can pay $160 to see their favorite black athlete or entertainer.
• No police to help rush that pregnant mom to the hospital, but who end up delivering the baby near the exit ramp.
• No police leagues to provide a healthy outlet for fatherless boys and girls through competitive sports.

Most violent crimes are committed by whites (by the numbers there are more of them) and in confrontations with police they are killed or put out of business at a higher rate (their crime rate is lower) than black criminals. But let's just unleash them and call it “black lives matter.”

Listening to people call the Mike Gallagher show to talk about what's open during this Covid19 crisis in their town. One from Virginia called to complain that during this time of protest and pandemic his governor (Mr. blackface) is addressing removing statues. Another from North Carolina (a Democrat) reports gathering for protests is encouraged and winked at, but the Republican convention which would have brought millions to the state coffers, is cancelled. Another (I think he was from California) complained that only 10 people are allowed at a private party and social distancing must be maintained, but 100 are allowed at a protest, and no social distancing. Now tell me folks, what part of this whole mess isn't political?

Grieving for a man who was killed in a terrible way during an arrest is understandable; allowing the nation to be destroyed based on a myth of police brutality is an evil, ugly plot to destroy the lives and living of millions. In 2019, 9 black men died at the hands of police during a confrontation. 19 white men died during a confrontation with police. Most were in the act of committing a crime. This information is from the Washington Post data base and is real, deep digging research investigating all the circumstances. So who blows it up? Our news media and social media.

39 black men had fatal confrontations with police in 2015 and 9 in 2019. We are a nation of 330, 000,000. Even for Obama's era, that's a tiny, tiny percentage of millions of confrontations with police.  However the drop is significant under Trump.

I guess too many people were quoting it to bust the myth that unarmed black men are at terrible risk.

Academe is so far left, it's amazing anything but the party line ever got in to print. The hurdle would be funding, probably figured it was an easy thing to prove--systemic racism and police brutality. Then the next hurdle, finding a publisher--all the journals are also liberal with gate keepers who can shut the door. Then to get a group of people to do a peer review--that must have been a challenge once the results of the study were known. Of course, purchasing it had already been done. PNAS is on subscription and librarians (also gate keepers) probably couldn't reject it. I fully expect that after their clarification and apology, and after they've been run out of town, tarred and feathered, their careers have been ruined and the offending volume will be removed from library shelves.

The Arbery shooting in Georgia

The Arbery shooting in Georgia reflects the need for Democrats to make everything about race. Nothing is ever a love affair gone sour, an innocent inquiry mistaken as a robbery or bad blood between co-workers. At least if the victim is black and the perp is white. Out of 100 black men who are murdered, 94 are victims of a black man (or occasionally a black woman). Four will be brought down by white, Hispanic or Asian men (or occasionally a woman). And statistics are similar for whites and Hispanics. For every 100 white or Hispanic men who are murdered, 83 will be victims of a same race assault. In most cases both the victim and assailant will be young.

The female mayor of Atlanta with no evidence whatsoever, called it a lynching, and blamed President Trump! I pity the family of the black man who never get justice because he was killed by another black man, and no one paid any attention. Certainly not the mayor and the major news media.

After 1994, violent crime dropped drastically--maybe 50%. Thousands of black lives have been saved. Experts don't agree on the reason. Because of the bias in research based on political and religious views, it’s difficult to tease out the details, but one thing is for certain, the media distorts reports of violent crime. It can sell more papers, or get more TV revenue or encourage more clicks on line for profit if it involves a black man being killed by a white man, and particularly if police are involved.

Bomb attacks are now common in Sweden

In 2019, there were over 230 bombings in Sweden—more than in any other Western country.  Explosions have become normalized.  No other western country is experiencing this. Gang crime is also increasing--nine out of ten perpetrators of Sweden’s gang shootings are either first- or second-generation immigrants. The country has gone from having among the lowest rates of violent crime in western Europe to one of the highest.   Ten years ago this was unheard of.  And sentences for violent crime are very lenient—the kidnapping and violent rape of a child might get a man 4 years.
Swedish leaders are not responding to the crime/assimilation problem.  Patriotism or nationalism are considered dirty words by the leftist governments. Citizens are being told--don't believe your eyes and ears.  Sound familiar?

No go zones are very real in Sweden.  Emergency and transportation and mail services need police escorts before going into certain areas. Sweden is deeply segregated; clan governments predominate in these segregated areas. Governments will not discuss for fear of being called racist.  Sound familiar?

What’s good about Baltimore?

Baltimore Sun claims DC has more rats than Baltimore, so I looked at a site that compared both cities.  Baltimore is losing population, DC is gaining, but in most demographics the two are comparable, with Baltimore having more single heads of household (usually a significant sign of poverty). But the comments were revealing; this one by William found a lot to like about Baltimore, white also noting the negatives.  I just pulled out the positive.

“For starters Baltimore is a great independent city filled with rich history, great sports teams (present/ past), a variety of cultural foods and local delicacies all wrapped up in a place jokingly referred to as “Smalltimore”. The Under Armour headquarters is based out of here, not to forgot about the growing tech sector, the expanding neighborhoods of Harbor East and South Point, the excellent array of hospitals (John’s Hopkin’s, Mercy, and the University of Maryland healthcare systems) and colleges within the city with so much more; however, like every city there are pockets of good and bad, but with this city there are a lot more bad things than good.

Crime, corruption, pollution/ trash on the roads, jay walkers who will willingly walk in the middle of traffic during a rush hour, a majority populous who only votes for Democratic candidates who mostly are unqualified (the city doesn’t even have a Office of Ethics until 2019), and some of the worst infrastructure I've seen.

Some spots have been gentrified over the years, but there are far more depilated properties once you head north and west. There are great markets spread out throughout the city with one of the largest places smack-dab in the middle of the city. You can find all types of fresh seafood, goods, and even have services performed for reasonable prices. Shopping elsewhere has been more about going out to the county as Towson Town Mall, Arundel Mills, and White Marsh Mall’s have severed the area for decades. There is an array of retailers such as Brooks Brothers, J.Crew, and other haberdasheries if you’re looking for tailored goods - Hat’s on the belfry is a great hat shop for all sexes in Fell’s Point. Target is located on the East side of the city in the expanding Canton neighborhood, and more shops have been added over the last 4 years. There are great corner store markets, and some shoppers enjoy organic options offered from Whole Food’s in Harbor East. There is a lot more than I’ve named and there is something for everyone out there. If shopping isn’t your thing, there are plenty of neighborhood bars, seafood eateries, brunch spots, and high end dining options. If you’re looking for family friendly spots there are plenty scattered throughout the Inner Harbor and the residing neighborhoods. Not only is there great shopping there is world-class entertainment venues and more parks than most cities I’ve visited.

As for the entertainment side, the famous historic Hippodrome is a great spot to check out Broadway plays, or prepare for a night out at the Royal Farm’s area and see big name artists as they play in a remodeled arena; but, there is so much more! You can visit Ram’s Head Live! And see many bands year round in a much smaller area than DC’s 9:30 Club with unrestricted views of your favorite musicians or enjoy a concert overlooking the harbor at the MECU (formerly Pier 6) pavilion. Aforementioned sports in this city are played as some of the best examples of stadiums in the US. The Orioles at Camden Yards is consistently rated as one of the best stadiums to visit and the Baltimore Raven’s M&T Bank is a gem in itself. If you’re not about loud music and sports there is a multitude of museums and art exhibits - the Walter’s has one of the largest free collections I’ve ever seen. Or if you’re into street art, Graffiti Lane is a cool spot to see. ”

National Crime Report for 2015

A new national crime report was released April 19. Violent crime is still at an all time low in the U.S. In most places, that’s a result of two decades of the Omnibus Crime Bill, which Bill Clinton recently had to defend as it was a beacon of hope in his administration. In NYC in 1990 there were 2,262 murders; in 2015 there were 352. Can you see President Clinton might be insulted by the accusations? As some cities feel the pressure to ignore smaller crimes like vagrancy, public urination and petty crimes, because some liberals think they are racist, we may see that change. Let's see what Bill DeBlasio will fare.

Some cities, however, are experiencing an increase in their murder rate. Oklahoma City, for instance, is up almost 65%, which sounds terrible, but that’s 75 murders in 2015 instead of 45 in 2014. Washington DC is up 51.2%, from 105 to 162 in 2015. Murders in Denver went from 31 in 2014 to 54 in 2015, an increase of 74.2%, largest increase in the nation, up there with Baltimore and Oklahoma City. 

In the 30 largest cities of the U.S. there is a 13.2% increase in murder (Columbus and Indianapolis figures are “unavailable.”) The three worst cities in crime increase, Baltimore, Chicago and Washington, DC, have poverty rates double the national average, unemployment higher than the national average (but lower than national average during the 2008 recession), but in median income they don’t resemble each other.

As I see it, only Democrat control and huge transfers for social programs from the federal government link these three. Crime, like poverty and poor schools, guarantees these cities a steady income drip from DC.
