nope. I only read the first page of the link...but I don't agree with the author about a lot of people agreeing with them. I know that a lot of people who used to listen to them support the president, so I hope this album flops.
The point is not that Natalie Maines or her bandmates don't have a right to make any legal comment they want; the point is that she made an inflammatory comment during a time of war, and on foreign soil no less. If she really believed that strongly, why didn't she make it at a concert in her Texas backyard? But no, she thought that she could probably get away with it in London and is still shocked at the reaction which was not to her liking. If she was some candy-a** rapper (Kanye West comes to mind), then it would have been expected and her audience would have cheered. But she (and her bandmates who agree with her) is apparently clueless when it comes to the old performing/writing/public speaking maxim of "know your audience". It was like Eminem making a racist comment at one of his concerts. But the funniest item in the interview was when she said "we're not politicians..." Oh really? Hmmm...inserting politics wherever desired says to me you just might be.
No one stopped them from expressing their anti-war sentiments, here or abroad. But why should they expect their fans to follow what they believe just because they can sing and look pretty. And many of us do reject the rappers.
Preferring truth to custom, the better to the good, adapt to adopt, reform to revolution, solutions to goals, knowledge to awareness, faith to spirituality. The rules.
