Obama didn't know his aunt was living in this country illegally. An immigration judge ORDERED her to leave the United States years ago after denying her request for asylum. Now that Obama does know, what's he or anybody else doing about it?? I guess that tells us something about how he feels about illegal immigration. Of course, the media brushed this off already. I found out from a little blurb in the local newspaper. Can you imagine the headlines if this were McCain or Palin? Now the government is investigating whether any laws were broken in the disclosure that Obama's aunt was living in this country illegally!
- Obama wants to raise taxes on corporations and hit the big oil companies with a windfall profit tax. I mean, you just know before you get to economics 101 that the end result of this is higher costs to the consumer and they actually pay the price. Plus some companies will layoff people or the larger ones will plant their business in another country where taxes are lower. Now that's what I call a great economic stimulus plan!
- Obama is going to share the wealth so that all the non- contributors do not have to worry, they will get more of the money that you contributors earn. This continues a trend that we already have going for us. Encourage people not to work.
- Obama wants us to believe that the entire economic mess is Bush's fault. Bush hasn't done everything right but he certainly isn't responsible for the crash. Obama doesn't mention that it was his party that stopped all attempts to head off the housing bubble and the demise of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae while taking campaign in donations from them. So how can he help resolve it if he doesn't know who or what caused it?
- From now on call me Chad.

I would love to see your source for your claim that 95% of all people don't pay taxes. I'll assume you mean income taxes, because most people pay taxes of one sort or another. I've heard as high as 50% - but I've never heard 95%.
And isn't it funny that when people don't vote your way, it's frequently because they just don't know, or they just don't pay attention, etc... It is rarely because they just disagree with your assessments of the candidates.
RL, if you want to continue the public's perception of librarians as cranky nit-pickers, just keep it up. You know exactly what Murray said. You can't reduce taxes on 95% when 95% don't pay income taxes. "It's a claim that the Wall Street Journal editorial board dubbed "Obama's 95% Illusion," noting that more than a third of Americans don't pay any income taxes, and that what Obama's plan does do is offer a raft of subsidies and government payments to individuals and families that he redefines as "tax cuts."
Yes, the poor pay taxes, probably way beyond their means because local taxes are often regressive. Taxes on food for instance, which we don't have in Ohio, but they do in Illinois and other states. Or taxes on gasoline, or taxes on entertainment. FICA's another big one for the poor.
Obama's plan is a return to the welfare that we'd made some progress on in the mid-90s. Paying the poor not to work and earn more.

Good job Norma. I couldn't have responded any better. R.l. I've been reading your comments on various political topics. I think your may be getting a little paranoid. But don't let this discourage you as I enjoy seeing comments on anything I write since nobody listens to what I have to say anymore. They're usually too busy talking.
Actually I see now what he is saying, I just read it differently. I honestly thought he was saying that 95% of Americans don't pay income taxes. It can be read either way, but thank you for the clarification. Sorry, but nothing more sinister than a misunderstanding.
Whew. Glad I could clarify.
