It has only been a week
Africa and Hawaii have had their revenge for the European explorers and colonialists seizing their land. Our globalist, bi-racial president has taken this country further into socialism in one week than FDR and LBJ did in 4.5 terms. The stimulus package is a complete fraud--a ploy to take over what we didn't hand over since 1933; our future citizens, workers, soldiers and grandchildren will be tossed out with the FOCA garbage where they will neither cost us in social services nor contribute to the greater good; our cabinet officers are crooks and sneaks; and little acorns dance in the woods of green.

What happened to praying for the president?
I still do. If I hear his voice on the car radio, I push the off button and pray, "Oh dear Lord, protect us all. Change his heart and mind, give his advisers a new vision of hope and love for our country." I wait a few more seconds, and then turn the radio back on.

Team Obama is tanking us to depths we've never tanked to before. The people who will be hurt the most will be the retired and on fixed incomes. There is nothing in Obama's plan for them except more taxes, higher inflation and disrespect. Afterall, these are the people that have worked hard to keep this country going. Now they are expected to give up what they earned and give to the people that have not been contributers. Obama is taking us beyond any chance for these people to be a part of any recovery.
Meh,
I am moving to Mexico in 6 years, going to medical school a Universidad Mayab and spending my retirement years doing medical mission trips and perhaps a few shifts in an English Speaking ER in Cancun every month to make a few extra bucks.
I plan on forgetting lots of income on my taxes until then... what is good enough for Sec Treas is good enough for me.
Matthew--have you looked at the political situation in Mexico recently. I think they get our next bailout. But the Geithner Duck sounds good.
The economic situation in Mexico is tenuous, but it is easier to be poor there. Everyone in the US feels entitled to their own house, their own car, their own big screen TV. I don't know anyone in Mexico with a big screen TV, heck most of my friends in Mexico don't have a car to themselves.
I don't really need my own car, or my own TV. I am happy to share and get around on public transport - which is much better in all of Mexico when contrasted with all of the US. Sure some cities in the US have great systems but try getting to Buffalo to Cleveland on public transport or even the Greyhound and you will notice how superior Mexico's travel system is. I can go from the Cancun to my city (Merida) in the Yucatan (about the same distance as Cleveland to Buffalo) for 45USD round trip and there are 16 first class (wide seats like Jet Blue with personal video) buses ever day from 230AM to 10PM.
There were 12 beheadings in Merida two months ago -12 people at once, but they were all drug dealers, and they caught the people in 2 days. I feel safer in Merida than I do in my own city.
I've even started moving money into Peso denominated CDs at Everbank. I am getting 14 and change to the dollar and it was ten a year ago. I don't see Mexico's economy getting much worse before it starts to get better so this months. Sure remittances are down, but they have all of the 2009 oil production pre-sold at $70/bbl.
Mexico has public debt of ~ 20% of GDP, the US is over 60%.
Mexico produces 3.5 Million barrels of oil a day, Iraq is 2.1 Million, Kuwait 2.6M, Canada 3.4M, Venezuela which every freaks out about everytime Chaves opens his commie yap only produces 2.7M.
If I have to be poor (and with the way the stock market is going -who knows) I am not counting on social security or anything other than what I have earned and saved myself.
I like the US, but I am not going to worry about my pennies when I can move south and have the same standard of living for 2/3 of the cost.

Wouldn't it provide some comic relief if Mexico had to erect silly fences to impede the flow of Americans into their country. Mdoneil, you may someday be considered a current generation pilgram.
