You have to love charts like this. Although they are so often used to make other points what they do glaring show is just how much Bush and the Republican's trashing of the economy cost us. I certainly appreciate the reminder now with the debt talks at a critical juncture. I'd also throw Bush's tax cuts for the rich in there with the war.
If this looks like Bush's fault to you, then I guess you're hopeless so there's no point in reminding you that 85% of the tax cuts went to the middle class. You've been listening to too many Obama rerun speeches where all he knows to say is "Bush's fault, tax cuts for the rich." The man never learned to accept responsibility for anything.
Now Norma I think you know better than that. The point is whether we can afford this tax cut package at all. We need something that works, not all this false anti-tax ideology. Check out the rise in median family income during the years Clinton raised taxes as compared to Bush's tax cut years. A 14% rise in median income under Clinton but only a 1.8% rise in median income under Bush's tax cuts.
If we could just have another tech boom like the Clinton years, which crashed and burned so that Bush inherited a recession. . . which he pulled us out of by bringing in more "revenue" by lowering taxes.
Some people just enjoy spending. Bush did. But Obama makes him look like a piker. Has created more debt than all the presidents who came before him combined. Obama's intention is to ruin the country; Bush's was to help people, even though he was wrong to run up so much debt.
Murray sez: "Obama's intention is to ruin the country" is exactly right Norma. People say things like , he don't get it,he must be stupid or he doesn't understand what he's doing. Well, let me tell you he totally understands exactly what he's doing and not only that.... he's achieving his goal while the rest of the country is arguing Republicans vs. Democrats. All he has to do is keep repeating the same speech all the time. Obama must have a good laugh every day at the stupidity of the masses.
With all due respect a rational person just does not make statements like " Obama's intention is to ruin the country". This reflects thinking that seriously lacks emotional intelligence but then that is what the extreme right relies on pushing it on it's lemming legions.
Doug, just look at his record and then decide who is rational. No president who wanted the best for his people would be doing what he is. The alternative is he is as dumb as a rock, and I really don't think that's the case.
Preferring truth to custom, the better to the good, adapt to adopt, reform to revolution, solutions to goals, knowledge to awareness, faith to spirituality. The rules.
