Watch out for all the scams

No, there is no discount on Forever stamps if you just click on a site [which will steal your credit card number].

No, there is no excess of something in a warehouse and you can get a really good deal or discount.

No, Medicare has not sent out new cards and all you have to do is read back the number on your old card to the caller who will hoax and scam you.

No, your membership is not about to expire at Lowes, or Amazon, or Walmart, and that too is a scam. (I get about 6 a day.)

No, someone is not trying to make a delivery and the driver is lost. so please give information.

No, no, no, and double no. Just hang up, or delete the message.

Scams are every where

Caution. Don't fall for scams.

This morning I received via e-mail:
"Hello Customer,

Due to a pr󠆚󠆚obl󠆚󠆚em with your ca󠆚󠆚r󠆚󠆚d, we were unable to ch󠆚󠆚arg󠆚󠆚e your ac󠆚󠆚cou󠆚󠆚nt $1󠆚󠆚3.9󠆚󠆚9 and applicable ta󠆚󠆚xe󠆚󠆚s for your next 1 month of Am󠆚󠆚azo󠆚󠆚n Pr󠆚󠆚im󠆚󠆚e. Your m󠆚󠆚embe󠆚󠆚rshi󠆚󠆚p ben󠆚󠆚efit󠆚󠆚s are currently on h󠆚󠆚ol󠆚󠆚d.
You may need to up󠆚󠆚dat󠆚󠆚e your p󠆚󠆚aym󠆚󠆚ent details though – Click the button below and follow the on-screen instructions"
This one was easy. I don't have Amazon Prime. But you might. Many scams are out there imitating real companies--using believable logos--we recently were caught by one pretending to be our cable provider. I get other e-mails and texts supposedly from UPS, or just a simple, "Hi, I haven't heard from you for a while," or "Did I miss your call" without any name. Don't give any recording or "person" (could be AI) any information like your SS or credit card number.

It's a mess to clean up, and they move faster than we can to correct it. There are bad people out there, and they aren't all in D.C.

Scams via texting

Although my baby is in her 50s, today she warned me about a scam that might come up in a text. It will say it's from UPS and will include a link for me to click for delivery, but it will try to steal information or direct me to another website that is bad. Since I've been waiting for a few online orders, I'd be a good target. I'm new to this "smart" phone stuff. I'd never fall for that in my e-mail, but I'm a novice on the other scams.

Some causes may be scams

There must be hundreds of scams out there willing to separate you from your stimulus check. The one I heard this morning could well be on the up and up, but let it be a reminder about all those that aren't.

A very young, very white man was featured on our local a.m. news appealing for a go-fund-me campaign to use YOUR stimulus check to be repurposed for his idea to help those who've fallen on hard times. He began with reasonable comments about "through no fault of their own" and went on to "systemic racism." Sorry, Charlie. Most of the people hurting are those who had a good job, a hopeful future in a good economy, perhaps the best in their lifetime. They weren't poor, they were ambitious, had a decent education, and even had some savings and investments which are being used up. The speaker was marketing a SJW brand in my opinion.

Most poor and low income people are white, most of the children not being supervised for on-line schooling are white, most of the people missing rent and mortgage payments are white. The vast majority of those with Covid19 are white. I realize that doesn't sell well in a time of racialist hawkers, but it's a fact.

Small businesses, mom and pop stores with a few employees have been devastated, the entertainment and leisure industry has been decimated, non-profits have had to lay off excellent staff, all while massive big box and on-line services have thrived due to the mismanagement of governors and mayors who shut down a thriving economy.

There are hundreds of non-profits, churches and charitable organizations that have been vetted who need our help. They are trying to help those not in the government maze of transfer programs for food, housing, education, and health. If you don't know any established charities or churches, ask a neighbor or DuckDuckGo. Food pantries can use your money to purchase food for emergency use, someone in your own family or neighborhood may not be able to meet a mortgage payment or pay the insurance bill, someone you know has died and her family needs help.

Don't fall for the racism scam. True charity is biblical, healthy and more holy than fake guilt and wokeism.

‘Tis the season of scams

Think before you donate. It's the season of scams.

"Some nonprofits with benevolent-sounding names actually have agendas that undermine American freedom. The Southern Poverty Law Center positions itself as a watchdog on racist and hate-filled organizations. The American Civil Liberties Union is billed as the nonprofit law firm that defends civil liberties. But both these groups follow a left-wing partisan agenda that vilifies political speech and undercuts due process." Capital Research Center

“Indeed, groups like the ACLU and the SPLC really do pose a direct threat to the very fabric of America, and, in many respects, are contributing to the decay of our constitutional republic. Earlier this year, the American Civil Liberties Union in Oregon filed a lawsuit against the federal government following a February 2 directive from the head of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to target criminal illegal aliens appears in courthouses. In this way, the ACLU stood not for, but against, the rule of law in order to protect individuals that have no right to be in the country in the first place. America’s justice system was sabotaged, just as it had been dozens – if not hundreds – of times before. (Related: The ACLU has sued a small town into submission over a cross on top of a Christmas tree.)

As for the Southern Poverty Law Center, this is an organization that disguises itself as a reputable, bipartisan group that seeks to preserve civil rights, when in reality it’s nothing more than a far-left, anti-conservative organization. They have developed something of a habit of labeling certain groups (mostly conservative and rarely liberal) as “hate groups” as a means of discrediting them and damaging their reputation. Ironically, when it comes to radical left-wing groups like Antifa that are staunchly opposed to republicans and President Trump, the Southern Poverty Law Center won’t even come close to using the term “hate group.” They are rabble-rousers, intentionally trying to stir up trouble and creating nothing but chaos in the process. (Related: The SPLC is a hate group pretending to be an anti-hate group.)” https://www.naturalnews.com/2018-06-08-aclu-slpc-must-be-prosecuted-for-sabotaging-a-constitutional-republic-warns-author.html

New credit card scam beware

"So the m.o. of the criminals is this: They will order expensive electronics on a stolen credit card and have the purchases shipped to the home of the legitimate credit card holder. The criminals are hoping the card holder will become preoccupied with disputing the purchase with their bank.

That’s when the crooks strike a second time by sending a return label and package in which the item is supposedly to be shipped back to the retailer.

But if you ship it before noticing that the address on the return label is not that of legitimate warehouse or place of business, the retailer may hold you financially responsible for the cost of the stolen merchandise."

Fully explained here.

Why do liberals lie about poverty? Follow the money.

Liberals lie.
Not sure why.
Their money funnel
 Down the tunnel.
Lies sell their books
and makes them crooks.
It's greed
Indeed.

Based on self-reports of consumer spending, “extreme poverty” has been practically nonexistent for three decades yet these researchers are selling books claiming extreme poverty exists in America. Liberals report that millions in America are poorer than the “disabled beggars of Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.”

"According to spending data reported by the families themselves, the number of families with children living on $2 per person per day is not 1 in 25, as Edin and Shaefer contend, but 1 in 4,469."

Computer scams and hoaxes

The last several days I've been getting phone calls from people with accents and noise in the background telling me they want to help me with my "windows" problem, or my reported computer problem. Usually I just hang up, because callers sitting in booths reading from a script need to earn a living and move on to the next sucker. But I've played along for a few questions then I ask them why they are running this scam. I chastise and castigate them before hanging up. Feels good. The economy has been completely restored, we're told, so no one needs to be working jobs like this even in India.

Massive tax scam

Don’t ever respond to the phone calls (or e-mails) supposedly from the IRS.  They are phony.  SCAMS!!  Reported on CBS this Morning.  This is not how the IRS works—although it’s a pretty heavy handed organization since release of information on investigating and harassing Christian and conservative organizations.

Just keep hanging up when you get such a call.

“Another major telemarketing scam starts with a threatening phone call supposedly from the IRS demanding money.

Tim Poulakis says he responded to a voice mail message from a man who said, “I am officer Andy from Internal Revenue Service.” The caller warned him “don’t discard this message” and told him to return the call before we take any legal action against you.

Poulakis said when he heard the message, “I panicked.”

He called back and was told he owed the IRS money for errors in four years of tax returns. Poulakis said he was told he had to pay the money that day. “Otherwise you will be detained. Sheriffs will come to your office,” and he would be arrested.

“They put the fear of God in me,” Poulakis said and he followed their instructions. He was told to pull money out his account, go to stores and load up prepaid cash cards to pay off the $3,489 debt. They had him scratch a number off the back of the card, read it to them, and kept him on the phone until the money was apparently downloaded to an account.

Then Poulakis was told they had some type of error and the amount was incorrect. He actually owed an additional amount ultimately bringing his total to $20,177. He followed the same instructions using prepaid cash cards explaining that he always tries to “do what’s right,” and “I just wanted this to go away.”

After learning from his tax preparer that this was a scam, “I was crying. And I couldn’t believe it. I was so angry.”

This woman knew it was a scam and decided to scam the scammer. Watch what she does—leads them on (they barely speak English), then tells them what they are doing is illegal, so they hang up on her.

How to use a crisis

Something's a little fishy. Obama loads up our local police with all that left over war stuff--even Ohio State got some and lumbering multi-wheeled armored trucks suitable for sand dunes look a little silly on campus.  Then he decides local control of the police isn't good enough to protect blacks, and the police really need more federal control. http://wdtn.com/2014/09/09/ohio-and-military-equipment/ Then he has tax dodger Al Sharpton at his beer summit as though he speaks for law abiding African Americans.

And how about that lefty media getting vapors about what one GOP woman said on Twitter?  Ayesha Kreutz, a black woman FB friend, comments:

“So, I read a headline ONLY that some GOP woman has resigned? What? She resigned over making a comment about the Obama girls looking bored and their clothing apparently. What in the world is happening people? Now, don't get it twisted, sure it is kind of mean spirited IMHO to pick on kiddos especially those of high profile people, but hey, it is part of the job I suppose, it happens. But how in the world is this lady resigning and not Barack Obama?

  • He can launder money (Solyndra) and not have to resign?
  • He can get an United States ambassador killed ( Benghazi) and not have to resign?
  • Obama and his administration did more than Nixon ever thought of doing, he has an enemies list and targeted citizens with the IRS, and no resigning for him?
  • He can lie repeatedly to the American people as a matter of fact he is a prolific liar I would list the list but they are endless, yet no resignation?

This is just the mega short list of why he should resign, though impeachment is much better. Democrats should be ashamed to let this guy represent them, If he was a Republican president he would have been impeached already and we would have brought up the charges ourselves. The GOP has its head somewhere bad or else the White House has so many secrets/scandals on these folks and are threatening to use them. If that is the case for the good of the country you all need to step down; other wise grow a pair.”

Then an NFL player posted a photo of the rear end of Malia, and nary an outcry for sexualizing the first daughter.

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2014/dec/01/obama-white-house-summit-ferguson

“Protesters in Ferguson were confronted by police driving armoured personnel carriers and carrying assault weapons, who repeatedly used tear gas and rubber bullets against demonstrators. Last week, teams of officers armed with military-grade weaponry and army-style fatigues were once again seen driving around Ferguson, although the overall response by law enforcement was more calibrated.”

Fact Checking Michele Bachmann's 'bombshell'

Get out your urban dictionaries, your slang dictionaries, and your porn words suitable for print dictionaries; the left is insisting that Michele's $105 billion isn't a 1) slush fund, 2) secret, 3) scam, or 4) insane. Of course, the fact checkers were from Washington Post, Polifact and Factcheck, all left wing shills in bed with the obamadmin. Republicans and Libertarians and even a math challenged librarian from Columbus can see the problem.

Fact Checker - Michele Bachmann's 'bombshell' on a 'hidden' $105 billion

Hot Air opines: "Few, however, were prepared for the extent of the deception embodied in the bill, which Democrats brokered behind closed doors and to the exclusion of members of the opposing party. That became apparent on Sunday, when Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-MN, dropped a bombshell on NBC’s Meet the Press, revealing that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act contains over $105 billion in health care appropriations."

Don't defund it; dump it.

Will Betsy Liley be the next to go?

New video released Thursday afternoon indicates National Public Radio intended to accept a $5 million donation from fictitious Muslim Brotherhood front group Muslim Education Action Center (MEAC) Trust – and that the publicly funded radio network might have helped MEAC make the donation anonymously to protect it from a federal government audit. . .
Liley said she and NPR have taken millions of dollars in donations anonymously before.

“We also got an $8 million gift,” Liley said. “I don’t know if you remember this; about two years ago a number of institutions, higher ed institutions, all with women as presidents, got donations that ranged from $5 million to $12 million. They were never identified who the gifts were from, but they totaled about $80 million dollars.”

Hmmm. That should make interesting research for a women's studies paper.

Read more at Daily Caller with video

In another video as she attempts to explain coverage of climate change to a donor who doesn't want the other side of the story, she gets off on the birthers and says NPR doesn't cover their point of view after stating 51% of Americans believe he wasn't born in the United States. So, does NPR cover the news, or decide what is news? For money. Not many people like Gaddafi, but NPR covers him, don't they?

Fighting hate can be very profitable--don't be conned

“The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) recalls an observation about the Holy Roman Empire, i.e., it was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire. Aside from its location in Alabama, the SPLC is about as southern as William Tecumseh Sherman. It has little to do with assisting poor people and much to do with enriching its already well-heeled directors. And as for law, its strident advocacy on behalf of illegal aliens suggests that the rule of law is not exactly one of its top priorities.”

“The SPLC serves as a cash machine for Morris Dees and his close associates. Building upon the George McGovern presidential campaign contributors lists, Dees has become one of the most successful direct mail fundraisers in history. Easily scared leftists have contributed hundreds of millions of dollars to the SPLC and it now has a fat endowment. Various Charity Watch Lists, such as that of the Colorado Secretary of State, recognize the SPLC as among the most dubious non-profit organizations currently soliciting funds.”

The "lost" climate data

"SCIENTISTS at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based.

It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years.

The UEA’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) was forced to reveal the loss following requests for the data under Freedom of Information legislation." Times on line

On the other hand, some very old stuff is now going to be available on line.

"Rare scientific manuscripts from Britain's Royal Society go online - 30 Nov 2009

The UK’s Royal Society has announced that historic manuscripts by scientists such as Sir Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin and others will be published online for the first time. As part of celebrations to mark its 350th anniversary, the society will make original manuscripts of papers published in its journals available to the public via Trailblazing, a new online resource.

Trailblazing contains 60 articles chosen from among the 60,000 that have appeared in the Royal Society's journals. Among the highlights from the Trailblazing site are: a 1770 scientific study confirming that composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a genius and, more recently, acclaimed British scientist Stephen Hawking's early writings on black holes. Also included are Sir Isaac Newton's landmark research on light and colour, a gruesome account of a 17th century blood transfusion and Benjamin Franklin's famous kite-flying experiment to identify the electrical nature of lightning in 1752."

It's all the same players

Usually I'm a big fan of the entrepreneurial spirit, the cottage industry that takes off, the bootstrapper who makes it big. Not in this case. They are part of the scam industry of the ages. Along with alcohol, tobacco, electric chairs and viaticals, I'm telling Dave, my investment guy, I want nothing to do with these companies. They are the new snakeoil salesmen. Are you emitting something dirty into the air. Just call your good old "green and clean" representative and they can make it all go away--on paper. Of course, it will cost you.
