Highest rate of gun violence was in the 1970s

While 2021 saw the highest total number of gun deaths in the U.S., this statistic does not take into account the nation’s growing population. On a per capita basis, there were 14.6 gun deaths per 100,000 people in 2021 – the highest rate since the early 1990s, but still well below the peak of 16.3 gun deaths per 100,000 people in 1974.

Also notice it was during the Obama years the gun deaths crept up after dramatic decline following the Omnibus Crime bill in 94--before George Floyd, before Covid. I'd start looking at who George Soros funded in high crime rate cities. I don't have dates, but right now he has funded 70 prosecutors still in office. Another 12 have been removed.

"From 2014 to 2021, Soros’ $40 million in campaign spending helped elect so-called social justice prosecutors across the country while dozens more benefited from the billionaire’s largesse while in office." New York Post June 8, 2022.

Gun deaths among kids rose 50%

Gun deaths among U.S. kids rose 50% from 2019 to 2021 | Pew Research Center

A discussion on gun deaths among children under 18 with friends last night promoted this search, and as I suspected, by far this is a young male problem. The Nashville Christian school case is one of the few I can remember where a female was the shooter, and we still haven't learned if she was on the testosterone treatment because transgenderism has become such a political bombshell. One other I remember from maybe 15 years ago was a young woman killing her dissertation committee.

Quotes from the Pew report:

"Boys, for example, accounted for 83% of all gun deaths among children and teens in 2021. Girls accounted for 17%."

"Those ages 12 to 17 accounted for 86% of all gun deaths among children and teens in 2021, while those 6 to 11 accounted for 7% of the total, as did those 5 and under."

"In 2021, 46% of all gun deaths among children and teens involved Black victims, even though only 14% of the U.S. under-18 population that year was Black. Much smaller shares of gun deaths among children and teens in 2021 involved White (32%), Hispanic (17%) and Asian (1%) victims."

(Note, only statistics for Hispanic children reflect % of population.)

"In 2021, a large majority of gun deaths involving Black children and teens (84%) were homicides, while 9% were suicides. Among White children and teens, by contrast, the majority of gun deaths (66%) were suicides, while a much smaller share (24%) were homicides."

Suicides among white Americans are always at a higher percentage than other groups--I believe the highest rate of suicides is for white males over 85 and the next highest is the 74-85 group. This is a tragedy our media (and society) pay little attention to.

Also, as noted in the URL, the pandemic lockdown contributed to more than just lost years of schooling. For all we hear about school shootings, schools are still the safest place for children to be. For far too many their own homes and neighborhoods are not healthy places. Yet our government's--from federal to local--poorly conceived lust for power to having everyone be vaccinated and isolated instead of just the vulnerable and elderly has led to a 50% rise in childhood gun deaths, many suicides.

In my opinion, and my Christian belief, having mothers demand the right to kill their own children up through the 9th month of pregnancy (and beyond according to a new law proposed in New York) has not set us up with a good foundation for respecting the lives of children.

The statistics I mentioned in our discussion for homicides of children under 5 comes from a government report; but all homicides, even those for children, dropped drastically after the 1994 Omnibus Crime Bill, now much maligned by liberals. Homicide Trends in the United States, 1980-2008 (ojp.gov)

Life expectancy fell 1.8 years

"US life expectancy fell by 1.8 years by the end of 2020. Increased deaths from COVID-19, heart disease, homicide, and diabetes led to the decrease, but Americans faced troubling health issues before the pandemic. Suicide was the 10th leading cause of death in 2019, up 30% from a decade before. The rates at which Americans died from heroin use (up 367% from 2009) and other synthetic narcotic use (up 1,100% from 2009) increased by much more than the nation’s leading causes of death."  This is reported in USAFacts. "

They'll be studying the death toll of the last 2 years for many years to come, and all the statistics will be influenced by politics. The toll on children of the closed schools, forced maskings and the constant fear drum beat will never be counted because it is government induced.
Additional facts about suicide in the US  The age-adjusted suicide rate in 2020 was 13.48 per 100,000 individuals.

The rate of suicide is highest in middle-aged white men.

In 2020, men died by suicide 3.88x more than women.

On average, there are 130 suicides per day.

White males accounted for 69.68% of suicide deaths in 2020.

In 2020, firearms accounted for 52.83% of all suicide deaths.

I'm totally confused, but 3 people are dead

"Police say that a transgender woman (a man) was found shot to death after she (he) shot and killed her (his) transgender boyfriend (a woman) and her (his) twin brother."   https://www.theblaze.com/news/michigan-trans-murder-suicide-taverner

Ruby Taverner was formerly known as Martin Taverner; Ray Muscat was formerly known as Amber Muscat.  No matter how this is written up, someone gets insulted. According to this report, from a pro-LGBTQ news source:

"Ray is the 13th transgender person reported as a victim of fatal violence in 2022. He is the second white trans man reported murdered in 2022 that we know of so far. His death means a trans neighbor has been murdered every 9.8 days in 2022 in the United States. To date the victims include 7 Black trans women, 2 Latinx trans women, 1 AAIPI trans woman, 2 white trans men and 1 white trans woman. The youngest was 17, the oldest was 33. Ten were 25 or younger. Their deaths come on the heels of 2021, the most violent year in recorded history with the deaths of 57 trans, non-binary, and gender nonconforming people in the United States alone. Note that the tabulation includes a significant number of reports of folx murdered in 2021. This might be confusing. Of course it is confusing. I tried to sort it out below.

Domestic violence, including murder, is a form of terror. It is often dismissed as “not the same” as a murder by a stranger, as if the person most intimate to the victim was incapable of transphobia or damaged by that transphobia in our society. According to a recent study, intimate partner violence among the transgender community from purposive studies ranges from 31% to 50%."   https://www.pghlesbian.com/2022/05/24-year-old-white-trans-man-ray-muscat-shot-to-death-by-girlfriend-in-michigan/

And of course, it's society's fault. My fault.  Not the screwed up person confused about what or who killed them.

Thousands will die from this pandemic lockdown

"Almost 40% of households earning less than $40,000 per year have someone who lost their job in recent months, according to the Federal Reserve. The Disaster Distress Helpline, a federal crisis hotline, received almost 900% more phone calls in March compared to a year ago. A recent JAMA Psychiatry analysis warned that stay-at-home orders and rising unemployment are a “perfect storm” for higher suicide rates. A California health organization recently estimated that up to 75,000 Americans could die from “despair” as a result of the pandemic, unemployment, and government restrictions."

But Democrats call small business owners "greedy" for not wanting their lives destroyed. https://www.aier.org/article/will-the-political-class-be-held-liable-for-what-theyve-done/?

Netflix suicide series “13 Reasons Why”

Should the entertainment industry be held accountable? The Netflix series examines the suicide of 17 year-old Hannah Baker, who made 13 cassette tapes prior to her death.

"According to a study published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, United States youth ages 10-17 had a 28.9% increase in suicide rates in young males in the month (April 2017) following the debut of the show."

www.ncregister.com/daily-news/study-finds-nearly-30-spike-in-male-teen-suicide-following-netflix-release?

https://www.nimh.nih.gov/news/science-news/2019/release-of-13-reasons-why-associated-with-increase-in-youth-suicide-rates.shtml

The entertainment industry, specifically TV and film, is a powerful mind control group whose representatives love to lecture the rest of us on man caused climate change, racism, sexual issues, gun laws, etc., yet are the most consistently violent, abusive, and life threatening force in our lives. It also brought us the MeToo hypocrisy, black performers as servants, criminals and/or dancers, and all the shoot 'em up car chase themes which they now decry as toxic masculinity.

Oregon offers free abortions for all--even illegals

Oregon Governor Kate Brown signed a bill which makes abortion free for every resident of the state by mandating insurance companies not charge a co-pay for an abortion. Additionally, the bill sets aside $500,000 tax payer dollars to pay for the abortions of illegal immigrants.

She'd better set aside massive amounts for counseling and increased cancer rates. In Finland the suicide rate among women who had undergone abortions in the prior year was three times higher compared to women in the general population and six times higher compared to women who gave birth. Induced abortions, particularly with a first pregnancy, increases the risk of breast cancer.

Manning and suicide rates

Pvt. Manning to whom Obama just granted freedom has attempted suicide twice while in prison. The rate of suicide (and suicide attempts) by transgendered or those on their way is very high--about 40%. And it's not discrimination. It's also very high after genital surgery, facial remolding and inclusion. If discrimination were the leading factor, then blacks would have a higher rate than whites, but they don't. Poorer neighborhoods would have higher rates of suicide than richer, but they don't. Jail suicide rates have gone up 12% during Obama's terms. Prison suicides outnumber homicides. The highest suicide rate is white men over 85. Obama's tragic decision won't help military veterans whose suicide rate is twice that of civilians.

I was wrong about Manning's orchiectomy--he hasn't had it yet, so he's a male taking estrogen to enlarge his breasts who's had a name change. And why not be depressed, anxious and suicidal? He's betrayed his fellow soldiers, his country, and his family so he could get free hormones and mascara. That's a heavy burden for anyone to bear. His treachery led to the deaths of poor villagers who were supporting U.S. forces and outed many of our allies. How does this make him a hero and a figure worthy of pity? I suspect Obama has signed his death warrant.

Brittany Maynard, suicide publicity hound

“Maynard is the subject of a well-planned PR campaign orchestrated by the George Soros-funded assisted-suicide advocacy group Compassion and Choices (formerly known as the Hemlock Society). C & C’s press release applauds Maynard’s “courage to tell her story as she is dying and alert all Americans to the choice of death with dignity” as “selfless and heroic.” “

http://www.firstthings.com/web-exclusives/2014/10/of-michael-landon-and-brittany-maynard

“Suicide has made Maynard an international celebrity. Partly, that’s because she is the perfect icon: young, pretty, newly wed, tragically dying, and transgressive for wanting to kill herself rather than face the rigors of late-stage brain cancer.”

How many people will be pushed to their death through her example?

Two female publicity hounds

There are two women whose stories are making the rounds of the internet, twitter and Facebook.  It’s hard to tell just how much they’ve generated since these stories are “shared” and passed along by multiple people, which could account for how recently I see them. But I think they are publicity hounds.

One is planning her suicide because she has a fatal illness. Famous and not so famous are pleading with her, telling her life can be good.

The other is planning her abortion with writing a tender, loving letter to her baby who she is planning to kill because this just isn’t the right time.  I figure she’s angling for money and when the offer is high enough, she’ll take it.

I’m not giving them any publicity by providing a link, photo, or name.

Gun violence is down, but most don’t know it

“(CNN) -- Gun-related homicides and crime are "strikingly" down from 20 years ago, despite the American public's belief that firearm crime is on the upswing, a new study said Wednesday.

Looking back 50 years, a Pew Research Center study found U.S. gun homicides rose in the 1960s, gained in the 1970s, peaked in the 1980s and the early 1990s, and then plunged and leveled out the past 20 years.

"Despite national attention to the issue of firearm violence, most Americans are unaware that gun crime is lower today than it was two decades ago," the researchers say.

A Pew survey of Americans in March found 56% believed gun-related crime is higher than 20 years ago and only 12% said it's lower. The survey said 26% believed it stayed the same and 6% didn't know.”

Suicide attempts among transgendered

The prevalence of suicide attempts among respondents
to the National Transgender Discrimination Survey
(NTDS), conducted by the National Gay and Lesbian
Task Force and National Center for Transgender Equality,
is 41 percent, which vastly exceeds the 4.6 percent of
the overall U.S. population who report a lifetime suicide
attempt, and is also higher than the 10-20 percent
of lesbian, gay and bisexual adults who report ever
attempting suicide.

http://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/wp-content/uploads/AFSP-Williams-Suicide-Report-Final.pdf

The Williams Institute is dedicated to conducting rigorous, independent research on sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy.  A national think tank at UCLA Law, the Williams Institute produces high-quality research with real-world relevance and disseminates it to judges, legislators, policymakers, media and the public.

The Williams Institute has done a state by state economic analysis of how gay marriage can boost state economies.  Ohio has about 20,000 same sex couples, and if 50% wanted to marry that would bring in about $70.8 million in spending on weddings and "tourism" (aka people traveling to attend the wedding). Well, if that's all it takes to boost Ohio's economy, why not insist that all couples living together without benefit of marriage just get married? Elsewhere I've seen estimates of the number of same sex couples that want to marry, and it really isn't all that high. The reasons are about the same as men everywhere give.

The Columbia Mall Shooting

They always look for motives. He wasn't poor—a preppy; he graduated from a great pubic high school; he had a job; was environmentally conscientious; liked by others; loved by his family.  But he was suicidal and apparently did want to be known before he left this life. There are common denominators in these tragedies--young and male and mentally troubled. Three dead (including the shooter) and five injured.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/crime/2014/01/27/

Darion Marcus Aguilar

Two law enforcement officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing, said Aguilar kept a journal in which he described suicidal thoughts. When the young man’s mother reported him missing Saturday, they said, a police detective was sent to the home. He began reading the journal, but Aguilar’s mother demanded he stop.

Later, after authorities identified Aguilar as the shooter, police seized the journal. In addition to the references to suicide, it contains notes expressing hatred of certain groups, according to the officials, who did not elaborate in detail.

Update: "Howard County police said they have reviewed Aguilar's journal and are examining his cellphone and a home computer, but have found nothing that connects him with the victims. Of the journal, authorities said only that Aguilar "knew he was having mental health issues. . . For more than a year, Aguilar had lived with his mother in the 4700 block of Hollywood Road in College Park — about a half-hour drive from the mall. Before that, Aguilar and his family lived in Silver Spring, about 20 minutes from the mall.

Aguilar did not have a driver's license, according to a Rockville gun shop owner who sold him the shotgun used in the attack. Aguilar used a state learner's permit for identification when he bought the gun Dec. 10." Baltimore Sun

Follow the money

The trial of Kermit Gosnell, the ghoulish late term abortionist of Philadelphia,  must have the pro-abortion folks worried. Even though the main stream media didn’t cover it, the news is getting around through social media.  As in photos of babies’ feet in jars, and of spinal cords snipped.  For the first time I can remember, I'm hearing radio ads on behalf of Planned Parenthood. The word abortion is never used; nor birth control; or even reproduction. Just access to health. Breast cancer is higher in women who abort their first pregnancy; suicide rate is higher for women who abort. Whose health? Planned Parenthood’s. Follow the money. Abortion is its money-maker. And minorities its target.

Planned Parenthood has ridden the waves of taxpayer funding to millions of dollars in annual surpluses. Last year [2012], like many before it, Planned Parenthood saw a very comfortable income, reporting excess revenues exceeding $87 million and net assets of more than $1.2 billion. The Foundry

Obama’s real record on women

WomensHealth.gov is run by the Office on Women’s Health in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. There’s also GirlsHealth.gov, which covers issues on relationships, bullying and more. I haven't checked this, but based on how Obama is encouraging women not to procreate as a "health" issue, I wonder if these sites cover the substantial research on links between breast cancer and birth control pills, and higher suicide rates for women who have had abortions to say nothing of the STDs a promiscuous life style brings them. Aren't breast cancer and suicide health issues for women? Why fuss over hormones in meat or smoke in the lungs if you don't tell them about the hormones they are adding to their own systems?

In a 1999 legislative vote, then-Illinois State Senator Barack Obama was the sole state senator to not vote for for a bill that would protect sexual assault victims from having the details of their cases revealed publicly.

Kurt Cobain lunchbox

It's in the 90s today, but I decided to bike up to the train station (Lakeside, OH) for the Archives sale. On my way there I looked at the last hill and decided it was too hot, so I turned around, and as I did, I saw the sign that said it was at South Auditorium rather than the Train Station, so I was already there. Nothing much to interest me, but maybe the good stuff was gone. I thought everything was over priced, using the Volunteers of America store as my guide. I did see a Kurt Cobain lunchbox ($3.00)that really puzzled me. I tried to imagine who in the 1990s would have bought a kid a lunchbox like that. When I got home I googled it (mainly to see what the going rate was). It wasn't issued until 2006 or 2007 when his widow, Courtney Love, sold the rights to some songs and his image. Probably only women bought such an item, and showed it off at work once or twice then put it away.

So I read through his biography. What a sad, sad, empty life. Proof, if you needed it, that money can't make a person happy who's taken a bad situation and made it worse with drugs.

On e-bay someone wanted $50.00 for a Kurt Cobain lunchbox. Good luck--it's going for $3 in Lakeside, and even then, had no takers.

There is no Gay Teen Suicide Epidemic

This morning in a class at church a retired teacher commented on the gay teen suicide epidemic. I told her there were no statistics to back up this claim that gay teens are bullied and then commit suicide. "Oh yes," she said, "I've attended workshops on this." Now that I believe. However, the so called statistics are urban legends and are from a jumble of bad information. This was disproved 8 or 9 years ago. Ritch Savin-Williams says gay teens are just as psychologically healthy as other teens and just as resilient.

Just like the phony "death by abortion" statistics we got in the 1960s, these are politically based and biased for a different agenda. Even one suicide, for what ever reason, is too many, but there is no gay teen suicide epidemic. As a demographic, gay men and women are very successful, the best educated and highest paid group in our society. I suspect that as teens they were rather resilient, smart and brave. . . maybe more so than other groups. Also, they do their share of bullying, of each other, and straight teens.

Do you know what is killing and maiming teen-agers at an alarming rate? Automobile accidents and sports injuries. Each Year over 5,000 teens ages 16 to 20 die due to fatal injuries caused by car accidents. About 400,000 drivers age 16 to 20 will be seriously injured. These are not urban legends--these are reportable, verifiable statistics, plus they are deaths that in many cases could be prevented if we had the collective guts to raise the driving age to 18! Snowmobiling, with speeds of 90 miles per hour and vehicle weights of more than 600 lbs., causes 200 deaths and 14,000 accidents yearly. And school buses? In 2002, 26 children ages 14 and under were killed, and in 2001 an estimated 4,500 were injured in school bus-related incidents. More than 40 percent of these deaths were child pedestrians.

What about dog bites? From 1979 to 1996, 304 people in the USA died from dog attacks and 30 in 2009 alone. How does that compare to deaths by suicide caused by bullying--a statistic that just doesn't exist?

How do you know a gay teen doesn't commit suicide from unrequited love--just like straight teens--he is madly in love with someone who rejects him. Because of his youth and inexperience, life seems without value and meaning. If he was teased or bullied on Tuesday and commits suicide on Thursday after a text message from his boyfriend who is dumping him, is it the bullying, the boyfriend, or his own insecurities?

Front page and center--NYT features soldier suicides

Isn't it nice the NYT wants to feature a suicide story front page with a 3 column wide photo about a 2007 death of Jacob Blaylock. Of course, no bias against the war or soliders on their part, right? The death of any soldier or former soldier, during combat or later from mental illness, is tragic. In WWI there were battles whose names we don't remember that wiped out 7,000 men in a few days--I'm sure the survivors had a difficult time the rest of their lives wondering "why did I live?." However, after you get past the "ain't it a shame that we're at war" theme and you get into the story, you find the featured soldier had many demons. ". . . the elements for disaster were in place long before he went to war." So it wasn't just the death of 2 in his unit or combat (he was in a transportation unit). Financial troubles, huge marital and custody battles, a sensitive nature, moody, the butt of jokes and teasing, apologetic, but musical and poetic. Into the second page, which many don't read, "Researchers of military suicide find not a single precipitating event, but many." "Soldiers who kill themselves are also likely to have a history of emotional troubles. . . "

So the reporter's mined that hole, and moves on to "screening." Why was he even in the Army? He'd been discharged once for mental health issues, but was "called back up when the Army was desperate for troops." NYT also got ahold of his VA private health records for treatment for depression--whether from someone inside or a family member, it doesn't say, but that's just a hint about privacy and health.

Then there's an itsy bitsy chart on the third page. Army suicides were well below the civilian rate up through 2004, and began to rise above the civilian rate in early 2007. Do you suppose the constant drum beat in the media and Congress-- Murtha, Pelosi, et al--against them had anything to do with their sense of mission, self-esteem and willingness to sacrifice, especially if they were fragile to begin with?

Death at the Camp Liberty Counseling Center

“Monday's shooting also raises new questions about how the U.S. military screens and treats soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and other combat-related psychological maladies.” Wall St. Journal story . WSJ, the most liberal newspaper in the country, provides a nice side bar chart of all the military deaths for the last 7 years--less than the number of teens we lose in a year of auto accidents or soldiers in one battle in WWI.

Yes, and the anti-war, anti-military talking heads will come out of the wood work on this one. Actually, have you ever worked or associated with a mentally ill, depressed or “stressed” person and tried to get help? There is no easy way to do this--I’ve experienced it and you might be safer to transfer or quit rather than try to battle the system that protects everyone except the friend, co-worker or boss who knows there’s a problem. Just yesterday I stopped to visit an OSU friend--we worked together 30+ years ago, and Oh the stories we could tell about our former boss whose mental stability was fragile (she was brilliant, but thought everyone else was dumb and against her). At one incident (physical danger) we just stood in terrified disbelief and one of the calm Christian student employees, who probably didn’t know enough to be scared or felt closer to God than I did, softly and quietly talked her down. She wasn’t fired or transferred--but her contract wasn’t renewed the next year and she went on to become someone else’s problem at another university.

The Virginia Tech Korean immigrant student Cho had a long history of problems and “help” dating back to middle school before he went on a killing rampage, as did the immigrant center killer Wong in Binghamton. And for all the talk about “bullying” in schools after Columbine launched a thousand workshops, that turns out not to be the case in so many situations. We have a local case in Ohio where a teen has committed suicide after sexting her own nude photos, but the parents want to blame the school for not confiscating cell phones and checking them (this is illegal). And like the unfortunates at those other “gun free” zones, “Troops at Camp Liberty are supposed to keep their weapons unloaded, which may have made it harder for soldiers at the clinic to defend themselves when the assailant started shooting.” Obviously, the shooters don’t follow all the rules, do they?

I’m thinking a lot of people who worked with Army Sgt. John M. Russell knew he was in trouble--the trouble he hid from his family and close friends, because if you are stressed or depressed or even paranoid--you aren't that way 24/7. He loved the military and obviously wanted this career--he wanted to stay in, and he hadn’t risen in rank. The investigation hasn't happened yet but we know the military and the war will be blamed--at least in the media. We don’t even know how much combat he’d seen; but someone knew there was a problem and referred him for help. And 5 people died. At least six families are suffering, and our prayers are for them.

Palliative is now pro-active

Don't miss this very disturbing article at Junk Food Science about end-of-life care, palliative care, government health insurance, and new legislation in California which requires caregivers to encourage patients to end their lives when a cure isn't possible.
"As similar distortion of the meaning of palliative care was also seen in a very troubling editorial that appeared in the August issue of the American Journal of Nursing, suggesting that nurses can and should help terminally ill patients hasten their dying. It was authored by Judith Schwarz, Ph.D., RN, who is the clinical coordinator for the northeast branch of the assisted suicide advocacy group, the Hemlock Society, now calling itself Compassion & Choices in the Northeast. She is also the contributing editor for ethical issues for the American Journal of Nursing. Her editorial was republished online by the Nursing Center."
Like abortion, the wording of the California bill is couched in "choice" terms. "Compassion & Choices" is the new, improved and laundered name of the Hemlock Society, the pro-suicide group, and it was the sponsor of the California bill. It's a long article, I can't summarize, so go there and read it. Judith Schwarz, whose opinion piece is in the AJN is having a workshop on 9/11 in NYC. How tacky is that? In her photo she looks like an older Nurse Ratched.
