One man died in May 2020 due to poor police training, not racial animostiy, in a Democrat run city. Thousands rioted and hundreds, mostly young black men, died (most media sources stopped giving totals after June 2020). But primarily in Democrat control cities like Columbus, Ohio, where police were told to stand down. (Mayor denied it, but we are friends with a black police officer.) Do Black lives really matter, and are you being told the truth about police? When interviewer Scott Pelley (CBS) asked Minnesota AG Keith Ellison whether the murder was a hate crime, the prosecutor replied: "I wouldn't call it that because hate crimes are crimes where there's an explicit motive and of bias. We don't have any evidence that Derek Chauvin factored in George Floyd's race."
Black lives matter began on social media, was picked up and distributed by mainstream, all about the false narrative that police kill blacks out of proportion to the population. But crime isn't committed that way. The victimization rate for Blacks (27.8 per 100,000) was 6 times higher than the rate for Whites (4.5 per 100,000). The offending rate for Blacks (34.4 per 100,000) was almost eight times higher than the rate for Whites (4.5 per 100,000). (Homicide Trends in the United States, 1980-2008 NCJ 236018) From 2003-2009 among reported arrest-related deaths, 42% of persons were white, 32% were black, and 20% were Hispanic. And crime rates for blacks is 8x that of whites. (Bureau of Justice. Arrest related deaths, 2003-2009. NCJ 235385) So Whites are being killed at a higher rate than Blacks. We don’t see it on TV cable news.
As riots and protests about police killings continue, let's look at some murder statistics. I'm using 2017 FBI-UCR (Uniform Crime Report), because these reports roll in at various times. Let's look at the victims instead of the killers. They don't get the headlines, but their lives matter too. TLM. In 2017, there was a total of 15,129 homicide victims--6,579 were white, 7,851 were black, and 2,304 were Hispanic. Assailants are usually male and between the ages of 15-35 and are most often the same race as their victim, but VICTIMS can be any age and sex--women, children, elderly. Within the UCR reports, these homicides are further detailed, such as gang killing, babysitter and child, rape, etc. I won't address that except other reports show for under age 5 victims the most likely weapon of a murder victim is fists, not guns or knives and a relative is usually the killer, not a babysitter or stranger.
Even those who hate math can see blacks are murdered at a much higher number and rate than whites or Hispanics. Whites are 76.3%, and Hispanics 18.5% of the population. Blacks are 13.4% of the population, and bear the burden of violent crime (these murders often take place during other violent crime)."Jackson died in the shooting at Mount Carmel St. Ann's Hospital in suburban Columbus. The races of all the officers have not been confirmed, although several appeared to be white. A message was left with police requesting that information."

That's not a pleasant topic, but their violent deaths also didn't close down the schools. And if you scroll through all the statistics (this article is loaded), it doesn't tell you that children under 5 are in danger of homicide, but it's their parents, not strangers or neighbors. Particularly their mothers and their boyfriends, and it's not guns either. Homicide has drastically gone down in all age groups the last 25 years, but has gone up in that one, and black children are way out of proportion to their population.
Although statistics for women who murder are far lower than men, for homicides involving young children the percentage is very high, and going up the last few decades. No one knows why, but I suspect it's abortion creating a disrespect for life and breaking the mother-child bond.

Except, Dr. Elizabeth Fontana, MD, (the author), you've not given the facts. 93% of the injured or killed or assaulted black people you will see who called the squad or the police have had a black assailant, NOT white. Not police. Even so, fatal injuries caused by police officers is miniscule and you as a health professional/provider are more likely to treat a police officer hurt by a black youth or gang member than the other way around.

By 2010, the rate of firearm homicide for blacks was 14.6 per 100,000, compared to 1.9 for whites, a decline of 51% for blacks and 48% for whites. Nationwide, there were over 1.5 million firearm non-fatalities in 1993 compared to about 478,000 in 2011. Because of the bias in research based on political and religious views, it’s difficult to tease out the details, but one thing is for certain, the media distort reports of violent crime and despite your excellent education, you've fallen for the big lie.
That said, millions of black babies die in the womb from chemical and surgical abortions. That's at genocidal levels. Rates for heart disease, hypertension, diabetes and obesity are much higher for blacks than whites, and yes, that IS something you as a doctor can tackle, but with them, not me. I have my own health problems.
Violent crime is committed close to home; black on black, white on white, Hispanic on Hispanic, gay on gay. Except for women. And you Dr. Fontana, should be concerned about all young male victims (usually), not just those black men assaulted by whites or police. When George Floyd was killed, there were many other black men killed that same day in Minneapolis, Chicago, Cleveland, and LA, but because a black man killed them, you didn't hear about it on the news. 24/7. But it's in the statistics. Their families grieve also. So too, if they died of a stroke or heart attack. Get to work, doctor. You have a job to do.

The media caused this. The spree shootings are awful but are absolutely dwarfed by the Ferguson Effect which was completely driven by media lies. Left wing policies in general create cities with high murder rates. The media wants to talk about white supremacists. Walk the halls of America's prisons. The murderers and other inmates are not Republicans.
Does the media ever talk about this huge spike in murder that they caused? Do they hold vigils? Do they hold the lies and liars accountable? Do they talk about their lies as a "first amendment loophole" like they talk about the "gun show loophole" (which is another media lie)? Will Gillette ever run a "Be Better" commercial scolding minorities for their murder rates which are many, many times higher than others?
Believe nothing the MSM says. Overall, the murder rate is half what it was at it's peak in the early 80s. Despite high profile crimes, the murder rate among liberal supported demographics is many, many times higher than other groups. "White Supremacist murder" is barely measurable - less than 0.2% of the murders. Spree shootings in general are less than 1%. It's the daily grind in Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit and other liberal run areas that account for more than 50%.”
This time the "disappeared" may be the result of drug and gang violence rather than Marxism.

During the Kavanaugh hearings you saw/heard unhinged women and even a few in Congress claiming women will die if Kavanaugh becomes a justice and SCOTUS is faced with interpreting the law instead of making it up or relying on feelings. Those women should know that pregnant women and new mothers are already dying--but it's from murder. And you don't hear a lot about it. (The article cited is from 2001, although there are newer ones from CDC.) First, most of these murder victims are young and black, and unless a policeman somehow factors in, you don't hear much when black men kill their pregnant girlfriends. Second, over 60% of women who have abortions are pressured or forced into it--obviously, not a good Planned Parenthood marketing slogan. And many who refuse, are killed.

The president is silent. Violent crime is down dramatically the last two decades and mostly in black neighborhoods through better policing and tougher sentences pushed by the Clinton administration. When Sarah Palin used the word "target" in her political ads, the Democrats yelled she was to blame for the Gabby Gifford event shootings. But it's crickets from liberals about "black lives matter" and "hands up don't shoot" hate lies and their connection to the deaths of three policemen in one week.
President Obama’s attacks on police began the first month of his presidency when he blamed the Boston police for responding to the call of a break-in at Louis Gate’s home. He said they acted stupidly because they questioned Professor Gates and didn’t know it was his home. Eric Holder continued the drum beat and they both have sent administration representatives to funerals without considering whites, Hispanics or blacks killed by blacks.
The crime rate for blacks is 8x that of whites, which means black families are the victims and suffering. Even so, crime has dropped drastically in the last two decades after the Clinton administration released money for more police. Now the Obama administration (along with Baltimore and New York mayors) wants to reverse that amazing life saving trend.

From the U.S. Bureau of Justice, “Arrest related deaths.” 42% of persons who died during an arrest were white, 32% were black, and 20% were Hispanic. ( 2003-2009). Of the 98 million arrests, 4,813 resulted in deaths, 40% of which were homicide. 75% of those who died were involved in a violent crime.
So why is homicide for blacks at arrest out of proportion to their population? The offending rate for blacks is 34.4 per 100,000 compared to 4.5 per 100,000 for whites. Based on that figure, it looks like whites are more likely to be killed by police while committing a crime than blacks.

Homicides are at an all time low. Even one murder is too many, but when ever we start to make progress, be it racism, disease, accidents, poverty, suicide, homicide (all of which are at all time lows according to government stats), there are groups whose jobs depend on keeping the issue alive and in the public view. It would "disarm" the left if they were to report that we are not a horrible, awful country that needs their fix.
Lunchtime conversation may include, “I was looking at the UN statistics on homicide yesterday and noticed some very odd things.” Then the spousal eyes glaze over—sandwich in hand he heads for his man cave.
Of course, the compilers warn that not all countries keep stats the same way, nor are all current. But you can’t miss the obvious—the homicide rates for North America-- Canada (1.6 per 100,000) and the United States (4.8)--are far lower than Central and South America. Brazil 21 per 100,000, Columbia 31.4, Dominican Republic 25, Jamaica 40.9, El Salvador 69.2, Honduras 91.6.
And then there is poor little French speaking Haiti (6.9)—apparently far safer than its island neighbor, Spanish speaking Dominican Republic, which is much more wealthy and developed. And the African countries are almost as high—Cote d’Ivoire is 56.9 for instance, Lesotho 35.2, Malawi 36, except those African countries with Islamic rule have low homicide rates. (Maybe covering up the women works since most homicides are committed by men.) The tables don’t specify guns or knives, clubs or poison. But countries with lower gun ownership than the U.S. do have higher homicide rates.
Like every other bad social charting, our homicide rate soared with the war on poverty and then began dropping in the 90s, although it hasn’t returned to the 1950s level before the government encouraged men to leave their families and let them fend for themselves.
Norway has the highest rate of gun ownership in Western Europe, yet possesses the lowest murder rate. In contrast, Holland's murder rate is nearly the worst, despite having the lowest gun ownership rate in Western Europe. Sweden and Denmark are two more examples of nations with high murder rates but few guns
