Lauer on Letterman

It comes after the gas. . . the good old boys sticking up for each other. I don’t think Lauer gets it. The left hates her because she is 1) smart, 2) capable, 3) pro-life, and 4) didn’t get to her position on the coattails of her husband or father, so they attack her family. What Letterman said was a whole lot worse than what got Don Imus fired. Remind me. Do "entertainers" ever ridicule or suggest assaulting the young sons of politicians?

HT Blatherings Blog

Update: Sarah Palin has graciously accepted his apology, but with a zinger of her own: In a statement Tuesday, the Alaska governor said she accepted Letterman's apology "on behalf of all young women, like my daughters, who hope men who 'joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve."

She's made it clear that entertainers using their bully pulpit to make ribald, sexist, sexual jokes about any women, of any age, is not acceptable. It's really been open season for disgusting sex jokes about conservative women since Obama swept into office. There's Obama's lipstick on a pig comment; Obama's chief Axelrod called Prejean a "dog;" Playboy publishing a hate f**k article using prominent Conservative women as objects; the gays attacking women who actually agree with the administration's published stand on marriage; Letterman calling Palin a slut, and 14 year old daughter getting knocked up and so on (he then later made it worse by claiming--oh no, I meant her other daughter, as if that were OK). Nice guys these Obamatons. And where are the feminists? Oh, still playing with their marxist marbles, and this game isn't worth getting into because it doesn't further their agenda.

One can not defend Letterman BUT Norma, shes got her kids out there pretty much..I feel, using them for props for her Pro-Life platform, surely you see that. I am not so sure that is being vvery "smart"...Limited exposure of family should suffice,if you really care about their welfare and privacy, when they are out there they unforunately became fair game for the likes of Letterman, and I have heard Dennis Miller makes some unkind remarks about others as well ..Rather than ballgames and parades maybe a venue at Special Olympics. Just a thought from a special mother...and I am sure you disagree.

You betcha I disagree. She was also attending an autism conference. Sorry, male politicians are not subjected to ridicule and smarmy jokes for having families. Just women. She is hated because she is a Republican and she allowed her special needs child to (gasp) have a life when 93% of Down babies die at the hand of abortionists like George Tiller! Because you are a Democrat, you are blinded by her politics. You defended Caroline K. who had nothing but a name to run on and didn't even vote let alone know anything about the issues. Letterman cannot be defended on ANY level for joking about a girl being raped by an adult athlete. Why can't she take her child to a ball game? Is that "exposing" her? I only occasionally see Dennis Miller, but if I heard him joke about rape of a child, you can bet your donkey I'd be on his case, too, not making excuses because he's a Republican.

Sarah Palin at the Autism Walk (spoke and walked both) with her sister, nephew, husband and daughter, says it is a non-partisan issue and she thanks the President for his support of research. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgYbaqz-3sM

Her sister, Heather Bruce's son has autism and she has family who have children with autism/Asperger's which is why she supports this cause.

Many high profile people promote causes dear to their hearts. What if she saves just one baby from abortion because hers was a "prop" for her cause? We are a throw away culture--she's showing that these are children that are being destroyed.

I found this one at the Gay Patriot, who was asking his readers where are the feminists.

"And as for David Letterman, where does this cheap laugh line stand in the pantheon of humor? He has proved that nothing is beneath him. He could have used an editor’s intuition and scrubbed it. Instead, he chose to “go there.” He is guilty of malice. And since this undoubtedly came from a writer, it is malice aforethought.

No, Letterman has no decency. He is a twisted puppy who has hung around for the dough long after he ceased to work at his job. He buried his creative spark long ago and has used his show as a forum for letting his personal demons romp.

There is a circle in Hell waiting for him where he will be subjected to an eternity long interview with Barbara Walters while Roseanne Barr makes fart jokes."

And another good one at Gay Patriot:

16.If liberal women think that somehow because Dave said this about a Conservative in public that it is ok they better realize that he is saying the same thing about them just behind their backs! Men who feel the need to demean women do it to all women, they do not pick and choose however Dave knows if he said it about Obama’s daughters he would be fired so they are slick enough in their HATE for women to define when they speak nastily of them.

Having been a liberal women until 9-12 I can tell you that the WORST people in the world to have a REAL discussion about women, blacks, jews and gays would be LIBERAL white men….they are indeed the racist’s they proclaim to see in the Conservatives!

I am sure no one on this site would be shocked to know what they say about all the above groups in quiet conservations at union meetings, protests etc.

"using them for props for her Pro-Life platform,"

Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't the Kennedys pretty high profile in supporting Special Olympics (or started it?) because of a family member? Did they ever NOT use their name and position to support their causes and vice versa?

Rosemary Kennedy never attended a single political event, that is documented, that I know of.(but always included in family gathering)..perhaps to save the family embrassment you will argue, perhaps but good comes from misfortune. (I tended/still tend to be the classic over protective mom.) They perserved her dignity by doing so,choosing where she and everyone in the family was comfortable, I do the same with my own autistic son. But the joke was not about an autistic son,or did I miss a joke. Bottom line...the media period has sunk to a low level with labels, name calling and lame jokes...we can do better. It makes one resolve not to stoop to their level..Surely you can agree with that.FYI: Kennedy research played a key role in the early years of my sons life, when no one knew what autism was the Kennedy Foundation at U of WI at Madison did..we will always be grateful, say what you will...

As pointed out, the Kennedys were high profile and used their political position for a worthy cause, just as Palin is doing. Rose never ran for office or chose to be in the public eye. Palin is being ridiculed, criticised and demeaned. The Kennedys made huge mistakes, particularly Ted and old Joe, and the press has taken them to task for those mistakes. Palin, on the other hand, simply is a Republican woman, and that seems to be her crime and the source of irritation and angst for the lefties--that and being pro-life.
