The media as "influencer"

When President Trump would brag about actual, real accomplishments, the media would go insane with denials. When Joe Biden brags about a fictional win, the press swoons. If Trump had a hangnail the media would find 50 doctors to analyze his mental clarity; if Biden demonstrates confusion and fantasy, they smile and nod. Good old Joe.

So I'd call the media/press the #1 reason there was no red wave on November 8, 2022.

#2 would be the stupidity of Democrats who can't stop clinging to their party's lies about climate, sex and abortion hoping to get that old feeling of self-righteousness granny and gramps had during the Civil Rights era. They still think the party is working for them.

#3 Our youngest voters grew up being force fed lies in public school about American history--it was all about slavery and destroying Indian land and not about hard work, merit or heroism. Also, they get their current news from TikTok.

#4 The Republicans just don't know how to celebrate a win. They are winning over minorities despite all the lies and deception of the Democrats; they have won the House and may still get the Senate. The mess in Arizona has been exposed and the Secretary of State in charge of the election screwed up the primaries and the election to push the Democrats in order to win the Senate seat. It just confirms to millions that the 2020 election was too slick to be honest.

Republicans,
  • you need to kick out the RINOs,
  • fund your own causes,
  • continue to expose the corruption and killing going on among the Democrats, and
  • start turning those blue counties purple and then red.
  • Stop the trail of woke from college to corporation;
  • check out those schools before you spend $70,000 to miseducate your kid.
  • And while you're at it, make sure your church understands the first amendment.
  • You need to turn that slogan "question authority" on its head, because now the "authority" is Uncle Joe with the Obama 2.0 agenda and a bunch of aging socialist snoops who want a one party system--the party of the government.

Media were a terrible failure in reporting Covid19 facts says a new NBER report

"Reporters ignored good news, mangled the facts, and stoked panic — and some people (but probably not reporters) will pay for it with their lives and livelihoods."

What was good news never or seldom reported? Low fatality rate, .3%. Virtually no cases or deaths among children. Incredible advances among therapeutics with our president as one of the best examples. Stoking panic? Every night endless reports in hushed tones. Zucker of CNN demanding his reporters clobber Trump with Covid news. Mangled facts. Trump haters blaming him for the deaths, when he took all legal steps based on the science and medical advice of his team. Unproved demands of "scientists" about masks causing confusion and anger among the people. Waves of infections all over the world in different cultures, climates, and classes, yet media Trump haters continued to blame the president.

9.4 million published news stories. I wonder how many WWII received? “Trump and hydroxychloroquine” receive more coverage than do all stories about companies and researchers developing vaccines.

What media bias?

A very low time in our history. For media. For press. For the 4th estate.

From the news report. Coronavirus Pandemic: Media-Driven Fear Warped COVID Response | National Review

"The estimated probability that a COVID-19 article is negative varies from 70 percent to 100 percent among major U.S. outlets. These probabilities are not correlated with the likelihood that conservative consumers of news trust the source. COVID-19 stories from Fox News are about as negative as those from CNN."

". . . among the U.S. major media 15,000 stories mention increases in caseloads while only 2,500 mention decreases, or a 6 to 1 ratio. Even when caseloads were falling nationally (April 24th to June 27th), this ratio remains relatively high at 5.3 to 1. "

"The U.S. major outlets ran 1,371 such [vaccine development and companies working on vaccines] stories. During the same period they ran 8,756 stories involving Trump and mask wearing and 1,636 stories about Trump and hydroxy chloroquine. "

WHY IS ALL COVID-19 NEWS BAD NEWS? Bruce Sacerdote , Ranjan Sehgal,  Molly Cook “Working Paper 28110”  http://www.nber.org/papers/w28110

NATIONAL BUREAU OF ECONOMIC RESEARCH

https://www.nber.org/.../working_papers/w28110/w28110.pdf

The authors never concluded, but I did, the negativity in the media was intended to make Trump look bad, and not to provide the public with honest, public health information.

Someone should go to jail or at least be fined or demoted. I'd trust the robo callers telling me I have back pain, or that my electricity provider needs to be changed or that my computer is running slow before I'd accept what the media (and FB fact checkers) are telling us.

The fake news virus

The coronavirus isn’t fake, and the hysteria about it isn’t fake, but the news media making it all about Trump, is definitely in the fake category.

“Trump was in a relaxed and cheerful mood [at CPAC] when he took the stage of the Potomac Ballroom at the Gaylord Hotel in National Harbor. Just before helicoptering over to CPAC on Marine One, the president had joined Vice President Mike Pence, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease Director Dr. Anthony Fauci at a White House press conference on the coronavirus. As with everything else in the Trump Age, this turned into a confrontation with the “fake news” media. An NBC reporter asked about a New York Times article that claimed Dr. Fauci had been “muzzled” by the administration. Trump responded that the question was “dishonest,” then yielded the microphone to Dr. Fauci. “I have never been muzzled, and I’ve been doing this since the administration of Ronald Reagan,” Dr. Fauci said, explaining that what happened involved scheduled TV appearances and the appointment of Pence to head the administration’s response to the disease that spread from China. “I have not been muzzled at all. That was a real misrepresentation of what happened.”

I’m surprised anyone believes anything published in New York Times, or Washington Post.

Let’s put Coronavirus in perspective

“Approximately one in four U.S. residents aged ≥65 years (older adults) report falling each year, and fall-related emergency department visits are estimated at approximately 3 million per year. In 2016, a total of 29,668 U.S. residents aged ≥65 years died as the result of a fall (age-adjusted rate = 61.6 per 100,000), compared with 18,334 deaths (47.0) in 2007.”  Imagine if that were a virus. The media are stoking a pandemic, and saying Trump isn’t doing enough, when he’s done a lot about a job that isn’t is.  However, I’ve never heard him comment on falls.  CDC MMWR https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/67/wr/mm6718a1.htm

“In the U.S. alone, the flu has already caused an estimated 19 million illnesses, 180,000 hospitalizations and 10,000 deaths this season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).” Scientific American https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-does-the-new-coronavirus-compare-with-the-flu/

Have you heard the president admonishing people to wash their hands and covering their sneezes? Has he appointed an influenza czar? Or a Fall General?

On March 15-20, 2009,  about 170 of us from the Columbus area returned from the Middle East. About 20 of us got sick on the way home. Some got sick after arriving home--some 2 or 3 days later with fever, aches and chills. It took about 4 weeks for my GI track to return to normal, although I didn't go to the hospital. Still I was lying on the floor of the airport for several hours, and someone had to get me to the front of the line at customs. I'm just thankful it wasn't during this scare.

Is Coronavirus hype by the media?”

“So far, the new coronavirus, dubbed 2019-nCoV, has led to more than 20,000 illnesses and 427 deaths in China, as well as more than 200 illnesses and two deaths outside of mainland China. But that’s nothing compared with the flu, also called influenza. In the U.S. alone, the flu has already caused an estimated 19 million illnesses, 180,000 hospitalizations and 10,000 deaths this season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).”

Scientific American, January 27, 2020  https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-does-the-new-coronavirus-compare-with-the-flu/

Rush Limbaugh opined today that the media are looking for the next “bombshell” to bring down President Trump.  If it has to be a panic over a virus or an economic recession, so be it—they hate him that much. In India, the President said the U.S. had the situation well in hand, but we are vigilant.  The media responded predictably—well, he lies so maybe he is lying again. One opinion-maker observed that Obama during the Ebola crisis had taken a world view.  Trump does not see himself has world manager or king.  Maybe Obama did. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/479301-trump-says-us-has-coronavirus-totally-under-control

That said, the media need to do some research on the old fashioned, annual flu which changes and evolves each year. They never say much about it because it’s many the elderly and immune compromised.   I got my flu shot, did you?

And some media wonk complained that Trump’s gathering of coronavirus medical experts wasn’t diverse enough.  I think it was CNN, which has if photos don’t lie, an all white editorial board.

Democrat media gives Trump so much free publicity, just like 2016

Worth reading again. President Trump lives rent free in the heads of the Democrat media. I heard that Trump gets 11x the publicity, all negative, from cable and broadcast news than all the Democrats running against him. Also that he has 94% support from Republicans.

“Do not underestimate the Trump voter. When they channel-surfed cable news, or heard of the antics that took place on college campuses, or saw street-theater demonstrations on television, they boiled at the idea that they had often worked at minimum wage, saw their jobs outsourced, never discriminated against anyone, and yet were being damned by smug youth who in a few years would draw on their college B.A. cattle brand, their parents’ lobbying, and the good-old-boy network of being rich, white, and from the proper zip code to inherit their rightful place in business, investment, politics, entertainment, the media, or the university. Google all the rich, white, privileged pundits who at one time or another, both in jest and in all seriousness, have called to deport the deplorables and in their stead give amnesty to illegal aliens or import “better” people from abroad.” Victor Davis Hanson,

We have a hate hoax problem--hate speech from the media

The media hate hoax which defamed a teen age boy needs some context. https://spectator.org/the-hate-hoax-industry/
"Consider, for example, “violence against women,” a problem allegedly so prevalent in America as to require federal legislation to suppress it. Yet reports of such crimes are often ignored by feminists, even when the violence particularly heinous. In 2017, a 15-year-old girl was rescued from a gang that had forced her into prostitution in the Maryland suburbs of D.C. Police say the gang had pimped out the girl since age 14 and she was savagely beaten with baseball bats when she didn’t turn enough tricks. Feminists have utterly ignored this case because the gang was MS-13, and at least one of the perpetrators was in the country illegally. “Violence against women” doesn’t interest feminists when it’s committed by illegal aliens, because calling attention to these crimes might help increase support for Trump’s border-enforcement policies — perish the thought!
The media’s anti-Trump agenda is what led them into their catastrophic blunder in the Covington Catholic incident. Because several of the students, including Nick Sandmann, were wearing “Make America Great Again” hats, the network TV producers were only too eager to agree with the Colorado teacher who pronounced them “Hitler Youth.” Plenty of liberal journalists have stated their belief that Trump is a latter-day Hitler, and by this logic the nearly 63 million Americans who voted for Trump must be crypto-Nazis. So when the video clip of Phillips in a face-off with the Kentucky students surfaced online Jan. 19, the folks at CNN, MSNBC, and other left-wing “news” operations were easily persuaded that Phillips was an innocent victim . . ."
Have the Trump haters (of him and the voters) learned anything from this.  Of course not--they were just coming of the fake Buzzfeed fiasco.

Can you imagine the evil that undergirds the Trump hatred

A Los Angeles DJ called For Covington Catholic School in Kentucky to be burned down – with kids locked inside.

Since people who voted for Trump are called racists and homophobes, then should we say all who didn’t vote with him, who dislike or hate him or who voted for Clinton, are at the level of this DJ?  Or the person who wanted to put these teens into a wood chopper? Or the SNL writer who offered oral sex to anyone who would smash their faces.  Is that how much all DEMOCRATS hate?

And what about the lily livered Conservatives and Catholic leaders who were willing to believe all the lies? Do you Democrats now like them more?

This incident of a bunch of kids waiting for a bus accosted by a black cult has really revealed some ugliness in the media, the church, and in the Democrats, who have still not condemned this form of child abuse.

The face of 2020

These past few days through the magic of the twisted media and the ocean of hate on twitter and FB we have seen the 2020 election in the faces of a bunch of Catholic kids waiting for a bus to take them to March for Life in Washington DC. Hate for the unborn and the people trying to save them, and hate for our president--that's all the Democrats have. All you have to do is tell the truth, and their lies will crumble. Be Martin Luther King, Jr. for our time.

White Christians accosted in DC while waiting for bus

A group of Catholic teens from Covington, KY were in DC for the March for Life this past week-end. The next day while waiting for the bus to take them to the march location they were accosted by both a black supremacist "Hebrew" group and a native American guy who shows up at rallies to protest ancient history. Being kids, they initially thought the Indian was performing and they joined in, before realizing they were under attack. Because a few had MAGA hats, they were fair game. The blacks were shouting gay slurs at the boys—not just reading Bibles as CNN reported. The media ran with the story that the kids were the ones causing the problem, twitter spread it, and their own school didn't support them--of course did no research. Now the full video is out (not the 30 seconds shown on social media). There was racist name calling directed at the teens, and shame on all those fake news sources [and their own school], and congratulations to the kids for keeping their cool until the truth came out. White males are under attack; pro-lifers are under attack; people who support our president are under attack. Our Fox 28 here in Columbus carried the fake story without ever checking for facts.

The clip that went viral was about 30 seconds—but there is full video available.  No taunting even in the viral clip, as CNN claimed. The teen just stood quietly and the total stranger who claims to be an Indian and VietNam vet (to the media) bangs a drum in his face. Remarkable restraint from a 16 year old. CNN should be ashamed for their lies. There's no video of any of the things they accused the kids of. There was no clash. The cult of Hebrew blacks who were calling the children disgusting names about homosexuality and incest, are treated as Biblical prophets by the racist CNN rip and read babe.

The media gave these children more attention than they gave the whole March for Life which was filled with teens and millennials, marching for the lives and rights of the unborn. Little did they know they'd be stripped of their own rights while waiting for a bus. For just standing there singing and goofing around like kids do.

Be very afraid for your sons and brothers, your husbands and friends. Anti-life, anti-Christian Marxism is coming after them, and too many Christians and conservatives are willing to grab at anything they see on-line and take it for truth just so they can run for cover from the lies. Remember the Duke Lacrosse team smear of 2006? That was anti-white, anti-male. That took months to reveal--now it happens in minutes, and lives are ruined, families threatened by internet goons.

Jim Acosta and President Trump

Acosta wasn’t asking a question at the press conference that ended in a shouting match; he was grandstanding and giving an opinion.  Eventually Trump had his press pass pulled, (but not all CNN’s other 150 staff) from White House press conferences, which are not about freedom of the press, but about invitation.  Trump could just stop giving these interviews, except he loves confrontation and trolling the media.  It gets him more publicity and his base loves it.

It looks like temporarily with a law suit, CNN may win this round.  Trump should have just hacked Acosta’s computer the way the previous President did for reporters he didn’t like or who were getting too close to the truth.

Sharyl Attkisson can tell you a bit about how reporters were treated under Obama.

https://sharylattkisson.com/2018/11/15/the-computer-intrusions-up-at-night/

What would happen if I wanted entrance to the White House and demanded a press pass because I’m a blogger?  Must be discrimination because I’m a woman.

Speculate this

The left assumes there are leakers running the show, but what if the FBI had already run that 7th investigation, already checked out the details of Ford's fake rape story (2 drunk teens rolling around on a bed with their clothes on), already had interviewed all Kavanaugh's friends (and enemies), already read the yearbooks, already had searched the archives of the various Maryland police departments, already interviewed her friends, her sex counselor, her ex-boyfriends, etc. What if the FBI already had been busy combing through the raveling threads of her fantasy before Flakey Jeff suggested a week's postponement? Just because it wasn't leaked to the NYT by someone inside the swamp, doesn't mean it didn't happen. So a shocked and subdued Di-Fi wants it sealed.

Michael Smith, guest blogger, on truth, facts, conspiracy theories and bias in politics

Interesting isn't it? How many people:

- Who can't stand the conspiracy theories of Alex Jones but believe the Steele dossier is real.

- Refuse to believe that the Hillary Clinton campaign was not connected to Russian "interference" when there is clear evidence they paid the law firm Perkins Coie to pay Fusion GPS who paid Christopher Steele.

- Believe Donald Trump committed campaign finance crimes, yet Hillary Clinton did not.

- Continue to insist that illegal aliens commit less crime than legal immigrants and citizens:

1) when every single illegal immigrant has already committed one misdemeanor if they have crossed the border once and a felony if they are repeat offenders, and

2) when illegal immigrants make up approximately 9% of the total population but 27% of the prison population.

- Believe if the Second Amendment was ignored and all guns were banned, there would be no more gun crime but don't accept that enforcing current immigration law to completely ban illegal immigration would end crime by illegal immigrants.

- Believe that one non-NRA member committing a gun crime means all NRA members are responsible, but one Islamist committing a terrorist act does not mean all Muslims are responsible.

- Don't believe a border wall will be effective, but build fences around their property and lock their doors.

- Believe "toxic masculinity," misogyny, sexism and sexual violence against women are problems, but importing people from cultures where these aspects are common is not.

- Believe the real issue in the Mollie Tibbetts murder is not that the murderer was here illegally, it was that he was a male.

- Claim to oppose fascism and racism while engaging in fascist and racist acts.

- Believe for speech to be free, it must be restricted or banned (for certain people).

- Believe it is totally intellectually consistent to say private social media companies can choose their customers, but a private cake bakery cannot.

- Believe that a scandal is only a scandal if the New York Times, the Washington Post, or CNN says it is.

- Believe sexual harassment is always real and the accuser should always be believed without question as long as the accusations aren't against #metoo members - then it was consensual and the accuser is a liar.

Of course, these are prominent features of our hypocritical progressive friends. For them, cognitive dissonance is a feature, not a bug.

None of this - not a single damn instance - is about the referenced situation - it is all about the political position of the person and how best to protect that political position. It's making up rules and crap "facts" as they go along just to keep their agenda alive and moving.

An interesting week

These are exciting times. After 16 years of lying about Bush and coddling Obama, the media have found "fake news" and are alarmed. They slobbered over the Women's March last week-end and ignored the March for Life yesterday, but since it was fully covered by EWTN, C-SPAN and Fox, their cover was blown. They are in a hole and digging deeper. They've made themselves irrelevant. Snowflakes have discovered 1984, not realizing it's a novel about the government they've just escaped. And the visit from the UK Prime Minister May--what a lovely lady to counteract the vulgar, ugly Judds and Madonnas we endured last week-end. It has been a thrilling week.

Ben Carson asks for money because media are unfair. Well, duh!

safe_image[1]

"The media have paid far more attention to Ben Carson's speculation about what the Pyramids were built for, thousands of years ago, than to outright lies that Hillary Clinton told about tragic American deaths in Benghazi, within days after she knew the truth, as her own e-mails now reveal." Thomas Sowell.

That said, if Dr. Carson doesn't stop using the stupidity of the media as a reason to support his campaign, I won't send him any money. GW Bush ignored the terrible way they treated him. Looks darn good in retrospect.

What’s going on with our media?

It would be my guess, and maybe yours, that the MSM are jumping the Hillary ship for Elizabeth Warren.  Well over half the country and most politicians here at home and abroad have known for decades that the Clintons are crooks, and together they are practically a gang. So NOW in spring 2015 the media all of a sudden notice the funny money, the expansive gibberish, the lack of decency and morality?  I don't see any other explanation for the reporting from the left on their criminality and hypocrisy. Warren hasn't been in power long enough or had enough experience to have muddy footprints which may be part of the appeal. Even though she's a very wealthy woman and a doublespeak academic she still makes appeals to "ordinary Americans" (Obama's favorite term for the hoi polloi/proletariat).

The media made a mess of Arizona

Instead of whipping up hatred and distrust over a non-existent anti-gay law in AZ, the media should be covering how all of us, including gays, minorities, religious nuts and transgendered females are losing rights every day to an invasive, snooping federal government. The newest Supreme Court decision, based on a Los Angeles case, says officers may search a residence without a warrant as long as one occupant consents.
http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-scotus-lapd-search-20140226,0,3720623.story

Here’s the text of the Arizona law, which if our first amendment rights weren’t being shredded every day, shouldn’t have been necessary.

Press goes to the dogs

No one would have brought up Obama eating dog meat in Indonesia (according to his book) if the Democrats in the Obamedia hadn't kept hammering on that Romney story from the early 80s of their dog riding on top of the car (huge dog, 6 kids in the car). So, animal lovers, putting him in a kennel for 2 weeks would have been better? But they just won't let go.  Really, who cares?  Will someone please get down to business and discuss important issues?  The economy.  Expansion of the wars. Destruction of the first amendment.  Just a few examples.  Democrats, you go first.  You're in office.

Will Obama get smacked around with this latest story of the military misbehavior the way Bush was about Abu-Grab? Or will the Koran story follow him?  Or how about soldiers urinating on dead bodies?  How the military might be involved in the growing scandal in Colombia?  No. He. Won't.  He's not Bush.  And that's a fact.

Too much exposure?

Is this over exposure or just naked power?

Good news: Obama to appear on five separate chat shows Sunday morning to push ObamaCare

He won't appear on Fox or the Foodie nextwork. One commenter wrote: “An apple Obama a day, keeps the doctor away.”
