Who's behind the latest organized harassment of women?

What exactly is the political motivation of this attack on women? 51% of the population we are, almost. Is it more men competing in athletic competitions designed specifically for women? Maybe some smaller men can't compete with men, so they'll go for the gold against women? Would you really want Bruce Jenner in the senior women's games?
More voyeurs in dressing rooms? Shouldn't peeping Toms be in the bushes where they can be arrested instead of being protected by city ordinances or the federal government? More photos of women on toilets uploaded to the internet so men can laugh at them?
Is it passive aggressive hate because we're just getting too much power--women running for president in both parties? Filling top positions in government and business so let's harass them. First the media tried to inflate campus rape statistics (perhaps to scare women away?), while college administrations demand that students having sex use consent forms, then they offer to give away our privacy for some political cause which can easily be solved other ways.
It seems to be entirely coming from the left. And Democrats. Are they conflicted about their sexuality?

My letter to Target CEO

He may never see the letter, but the envelope should get someone's attention.  As near as I can figure, there's no way to run an envelope through my new HP Envy 5660 wireless printer so I taped the address to the envelope. This is the blog entry I sent him.

Why are you voting Democrat?

I checked a security firm website today specifically on public restrooms, and it recounted all the bad stuff that happens, from physical abuse (a girl was killed in a Delaware bathroom yesterday by other girls) to graffiti, to homeless people undressing and washing up, to sexual assaults, and mentally ill smearing feces. It reminded me that one of our nephews dropped out of high school when he was harassed in the school rest room by gay students years ago, and he knew the administration would never take his side. Those stories don't get in the news because men are afraid to report assaults by other men out of fear of being called gay. And yet taking into consideration the prison population, more rapes happen to men than to women. The military is another place men are assaulted.

Then I remembered you do see bath room assaults on women reported from time to time, so why would any respectable business, a celebrity whose fortune has been made by adoring female fans, or a state responsible for the security of its citizens, even dream of such a ridiculous encouragement as what is happening today? Because it's being pushed by the Democrat party.

Just out of curiosity, how deep in the muck are you Democrats that read this blog going to let the party take you? For decades your party (which was mine until 2000) platform has promoted the destruction of the unborn for any reason—female, color, disability, college plans, or whim. You can say, "Well, I personally wouldn’t have an abortion, but I support the right yada, yada."  Really?

Was it 2008 or 2012 “God bless America” was booed at your convention? Your political platform also promotes embryonic stem cell research (by government—it’s never been illegal for private research) even though not one single advancement in health has come from that. Democrats have pushed same sex marriage on a society and the historical record that doesn’t want it. It has destroyed small businesses and families that won’t comply. It routinely makes a mockery of our Constitution.  It promotes climate change wealth transfer which even if it were true might possibly make a difference of 1 degree in a century, while billions that could be spent through technology to improve lives is spent on a fantasy.

Democrats love Earth Day, today, and President Nixon took advantage of that silliness and created the EPA which is implicated in a number of scandals this year. Earth Day (1970) is also the anniversary of taking DDT off the market, allowing many millions of brown and black children to die of malaria and the crippling of millions of adults. Mosquito borne viruses are creeping back, and just watch the Democrats switch plans when they or someone in their family get dengue or Zika.

I’ll probably be leaving the Republican party if Trump is the candidate—the battle between the creepy clown and the crook—but I don’t think I could look in the mirror and respect myself if I were a registered Democrat, even for a primary.

Why are you?

What if Target just did what was good for ALL customers

Let's play "what if."

I shopped at Giant Eagle this morning--love that store, and it's a treat to see the fabulous and over priced products, some twice what I pay at Marc's. But it's also interesting to see how a major grocery retailer with a small profit margin has responded to consumer demands for organic, gluten-free, no hormones in meat, grass fed Buffalo burgers and cheese from sheep and goats, and maybe yaks--3x higher in omega-3 fatty acids than the cheddar cheese I bought for sandwiches.

So what if, instead of submitting to the gay mafia, Target had begun advertising, "Safe, secure, lockable, child friendly rest rooms for all if desired." No hoopla, just good customer service to let everyone know they are welcome to shop there without fear. Many of us already use lockable single stall restrooms in stores, public spaces or historical buildings that don't have enough space for two plus a handicapped on the main floor. It's in the building code, and is OK.

Giant Eagle doesn't tell me I can't select what I'm used to, or I can't purchase off brands at a cheaper price, or I can't buy processed food, even if the CEO is a vegan who thinks I'll go to hell. A good business in a capitalist economy does a market study and provides for all, even the majority.

"What if" doesn't work with this fantasy, because it isn't about good business. It's about pushing a set of values and narrow morality, as though the customer can't check out without getting a religious pamphlet. It's about blurring the clear differences between men and women. Toilets are just a small part of this cultural package. There's already a move to erase gender from birth certificates, the terms mother and father from school records of children, and husband and wife from marriage licenses. There are groups demanding respect for polygamy and incest. Check your public library and you'll find a huge number of YA books on gender bending far out of proportion to religion, but with the same missionary zeal. And for whom? A fraction of a fraction who for the most part just want to quietly live their lives without government, religious or social interference. That's a right that is NOT available for the other 97% of us.

50 shades of gender

If progressives have their way with us, men will have no say in what happens to their unborn children, and women will have no say in what happens in the stalls of the restrooms. Last week the head of Planned Parenthood told men to sit down, shut up, and just write the checks when it comes to abortion and Bruce Springsteen told women to shut up and find another place to take of business.

When you see statistics about HIV in women, keep this in mind. In New York City, from 2007-2011, there were 191 new diagnoses of HIV infection among transgender people, 99% of which were among transgender women. This is "self-identification" according to the CDC and the external genitalia doesn't matter. But in gathering data on diseases, they are called "women." Two-Spirit is not yet a category for health.

If you go to the CDC website on treating STDs of transgendered people, you'll see the definition does not include what the genitalia look like or whether they've had hormone shots and breast implants like Bruce Jenner, but it is how they feel about their gender assignment. Springsteen's not siding with "freedom fighters," he's siding with potential perverts. He lost some money in this deal, probably covered by insurance, but mostly it was the fans and the small vendors who have to eat the costs of his ignorance and hypocrisy. Some one percenters are just that inconsiderate.

I didn't think about the airlines collecting data on gender. How long will this be legal, does it discriminate against transgender or questioning and does Bruce Springsteen fly commercial? "Recent research by Javier Donna, assistant professor of economics at Ohio State, examines a large dataset with 6.4 million flight bookings in 2014 to analyze gender differences in the demand for planning business travel. The research finds female travelers book two days earlier than their male counterparts on average. Female travelers save about $17 per trip, or about 2% of the average ticket price."

Four low flow toilets

It was bound to happen with 4 low flow toilets in our house.  But I have successful “plunged” and we are free flowing again.  I had to buy a new plunger, as the old style don’t fit the angles.  It was a Waxman Heavy Duty Toilet Plunger.  It’s black plastic and has sort of accordion pleats.  There are models that have little containers, but this one is larger. I looked at the tag after I was finished, and happy to see not only was it made in the USA, but right here in Ohio.

Waxman Industries, Inc. markets specialty plumbing, and floor and surface protection products to retailers, primarily mass merchandisers, do-it-yourself warehouse home centers, and home improvement centers. It offers various products from plumbing repair to floorcare, and faucets to showers. Waxman Industries, Inc. also manufactures, packages, sources, and assembles plumbing products for industrial, OEM, and wholesale distribution customers. The company was incorporated in 1989 and is based in Bedford Heights, Ohio.

When was the last time you checked your shut off valves?

Check your shut off valves. We're remodeling 2 bathrooms; toilets and shut off valves will be replaced. And while we're at it, we'll have our other shut off values also replaced. A neighbor with an identical unit the same age (1977), had one break a few days ago at night, and the damage wasn't found until morning. It will be some extra cost we hadn't planned on, but will be worth it.

Toilet shopping again

This time it's for our cottage at Lakeside. I'd like a taller toilet. I feel like we've got a kindergarten comode up there and that's not good for someone with a bad back. Plus, the floor is feeling a tad squishy. Nothing shows beneath, but in 1944 when this house was built, I think things were sturdier, so it may only be the subflooring under the linoleum is getting wet. In any case, I'd like to not have to rip up the floor, so maybe when we take the toilet out that would solve the problem and the floor would dry out.

Nothing's easy when married to an architect. I think we'll have to go to Lowe's and look. So far, my choice is the cute little Jacuzzi Perfecta round which is $127. And I liked one of the reviewers who seemed to have a sense of humor.
I've had mine for well over a year and it rarely (but still does about once every 3-4 months) clogs. I rated it average on features because what features should a toilet have? Stuff goes in it, you flush it down, works 99% of the time, end of story. Well, the seat that comes with it is cheap and needs to be replaced so I guess that's a feature con.

Rand Paul accuses Democrats of being anti-choice--particularly about toilets

His toilets don't work and he can't find a decent light bulb and Democrats are shipping jobs overseas with their energy regulations. They are anti-choice--putting people out of business or fining them with their efficiency standards. Appalling and hypocritical, he says, you are busy-bodies. Besides these toilets have to be flushed multiple times to even work. Amen, brother!

Chemo Brain

Sheryl Crow has reportedly said that we should use less toilet paper. Maybe 1 square per visit to the rest room. I hope this is an urban legend, a misquote, and joke on the conservative bloggers who try to find ways to make fun of the fundy evironmentalists. Perhaps she and her girl friend are whooping it up at the fuss they stirred. Because if it isn't one of those, it's chemo brain, the impaired mental function of some cancer survivors.

"Now, I don't want to rob any law-abiding American of his or her God-given rights, but I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required." [Washington Post blog]

They already use this method at the St. Petersburg, Russia top tourist spots. We were well acquainted with the lack of toilet paper last summer. If you didn't take some tissue or paper towels into the rest room, you were out of luck.

Even with adequate toilet paper, women (I don't know about men) have both urine and fecal residue on their hands with every use of a toilet--at home or public restroom--and toilet paper is getting thinner and weaker, especially in public restrooms. Serious implications for women with long or artificial fingernails. This stuff is found in the open sample dishes in restaurants, for goodness sake. How do you think it got there? On hands! They transfer the matter and bacteria to their clothing, their purse, their wrist and hand jewelry, cell phones, the flush knob on the toilet, the door clasp of the stall, the faucet at the sink, and anything else they touch in the rest room. The hand blow dryers just move it all around the rest of your clothing. Then it's back to the children, the car, the restaurant, or shaking someone's hand. (Maybe Sheryl just doesn't want her fans to touch her?)
