762 Batteries aren't cheap

And cheap ones are really expensive. I read an article in the WSJ that reported on the battery wars. According to this writer, Duracell alkaline will last 4 times longer than any brand labelled, "super heavy duty." "Heavy duty" technology was state of the art 50 years ago, but Duracell's cooper top is 27% more powerful than it was in 2000. It's a real pain to change batteries--I've obviously been going for cheap rather than thrifty.

Lately, I have been fortunate enough to stumble on twenty-packs of AAs for about what you'd normally pay for about eight batteries. They're Energizers not Duracells but roughly equivalent, I'm sure.

Batteries for my digital camera are expensive, but I'm saving on film...I think. I'm doing a series for a scrapbook page: kitties in the hood. It will be tres sweet.

I doubt that Duracell brand matters, just the alkaline.
