The Gores

I was as shocked and saddened as anyone to hear about the Gores. And there's no way I believe the story being put out--not after 40 years.

"They were college sweethearts whose public struggles — her battles with depression, his searing loss to George W. Bush in 2000 — did nothing to suggest anything besides a stable and mutually supportive team. The Gores — he is 62, she is 61 — were never trailed by rumors or whispers, and people close to the family said Tuesday that they expected no second shoe to drop. This decision, they said, was simply about a couple that had grown apart after four decades."

I'm guessing it wasn't a woman, but his new religion--rabid environmentalism--the new nature worship of ancient times. But then, we were all wrong about Edwards, too.

Possibly it's his religion. But I'm guessing her name will appear soon and she's part of the movement, supportive staff, had nothing to do with the separation, yada yada. Or maybe like that governor (SC?), the love of his life.

People can grow apart and still stay together. All we have to do is look around us.Maybe we get bored with looking at the same face over the morning papers,I surely don't know but I know it happens. It doesn't mean you don't love them anymore but love them in a different way but do not divorce.Maybe she didn't share his drive for enviormental issues and him maybe not so keen on depresssion help advocacy like she was. They had been through so much-like them or not-that one can't help but feel sad at the news.

Sometime after 2000--maybe 2003 I read an article in a liberal literary magazine about how bitter he'd become, a personality change, not only because of the Clintons not supporting him in 2000, but because of the electoral vote vs. popular vote. Then he found his new mistress, man made global warming, and he was on stage again, adored and lauded again. I think it's tough for people in the public eye and celebs to go home and be just plain Al or "honey-do" or "grandpa." Still. . . I'm guessing there's a real flesh and blood person out there. . .
