Mirror, mirror on the wall

who's the most arrogant of them all? Obama!

Arrogant, dismissive, derisive? He's the worst president ever. EVER! George Bush never insulted the Europeans, and he certainly never insulted the people who elected him. Maybe Obama hasn't read our history, especially our recent history. He's only been reading WaPo and NYT. When have European countries gone to war on behalf of Muslims the way we did? (They like to keep their own Muslims immigrants unemployed and poor!) He commented on nothing Bush did that was positive. George Bush never insulted his predecessors, not even the really poor ones like Carter and FDR. Where did Obama learn his manners? In the slums of the third world? He is a disgrace to the office. Although it should be no surprise--this European "tour" is a summary of his campaign speeches. Does he not realize he's the President now? Of all of us? Why is he still running? Literally.

I think he is running for President of the EU. Somebody should tell him the US is not in it. With all the gaffes from him and Sec. Clinton he truly may not know.

The bowing and kneeling when introduced to Abdulla of Saudi Arabia was simply amazing. Did everyone from the office of protocol quit?

From "Some have hats": It's bad enough when the Dixie Chicks go abroad and bad mouth America, but for the president to do it?

Norma, I have to ask, I know you have traveled to a number of places overseas. Haven't you ever seen "The ugle American" in your travels??

I have, and so often that I have been happy to be thought of as a Canadian numerous times. And do not get me wrong, I'm proud to be an American but in my travels I have always known who the foreigner was and whose homeland I was in.

I haven't seen nor heard what this post apparently refers to so I am not defending Obama but am speaking reference to the "arrogence, etc . . ." part of the post.

Many people do not travele well in strange countries. This trip has been his first, strange, and interesting so far. After the Hollywood "dust" settles to the ground I'll be interested to hear and see the results.

Just an old Hobo here . . . . .

Oh yes, I've seen plenty of rude tourists--many of them huge crowds of Japanese who walk right through your group and chatter so you can't hear your guide. That is NOT the arrogance Obama was talking about. Don't even think that! He is referring to the US government that has sent billions in aid to Europe, Africa and Asia, the evil first responders after the tsunami, the donor to the huge AIDS and malaria programs, our policies in the middle east, and the Bush administration's reluctance to turn women into cash cows for lab research with fertilized eggs. Remember Obama's there to celebrate NATO (now unnecessary as far as I'm concerned)and to put us even more under UN control with stiff banking and environment rules and laws above our own Constitution, not to teach senior citizens and college students manners.

We traveled within the last 4 years in Germany, Austria, Finland, Russia, Italy and Ireland (and most recently Greece, Turkey, Israel and Egypt). Tourism is extremely important to their economies, and I'm sure they're hurting now as Americans and other world travelers tighten their belts. Most of the people we met in their leisure and hospitality (in Europe) industry (with the exception of some wonderful local and American ex-pat guides) were East Europeans, East Asians and Filipinos, struggling to cobble together some money in those fast rising, capitalist economies to send home to their families living in former Communist countries. To them, capitalism was being paid to clean rooms or wait tables and not have the government steal your tips with confiscatory taxes. The catholic newsletter I picked up at one historic cathedral in Ireland was bilingual--Polish and Portuguese, not English or Gaelic. There were places we visited where the staff was entirely foreign.

People who constantly deal with the public have to put up with a lot--especially when they arrive hot, hungry and tired from a 4 hour bus ride. And that's true whether it is Vermont or Florence.

And even more arrogance: An Obamafficial has said the U.S. is taking the blame for the 1994 Tutsi-Hutu holocaust. We're so vane, as the song goes, we think we can undo the aftermath of European colonial powers, and centuries of tribal suspicion and warfare. What a smack down to Clinton!

My letter to David Wessel, WSJ:

No, Obama can't deliver AT ALL, but he can bankrupt us through his spending plan, dismantle our economy by nationalizing huge sectors, destory small businesses by raising taxes and increasing harmful regulations, weaken our military readiness, and lessen patriotism and morale with his obsession for obsequious, subservient, groveling stammering speeches in Europe and Asia.

The nation's and Ohio's unemployment has steadily been creeping upward since the Democrats grabbed the reins in 2006. We're around 8.5 and I think early 2007 it was 4.5. Congress built the housing bubble by trying to be social workers pushing a do-gooder agenda, and now that it has exploded in their faces, they point the finger and give us the finger. Democrats (if that's their real party) are railroading us into economic disaster with their warmist lies even though the climate has been cooling for 5 years and there is no consensus that humans control the universe.

President Obama is on a suicide mission. During the campaign I never called him a Muslim, just a marxist. Now I'm not so sure--his actions say otherwise. With the media's help, he has certainly launched the bomb regardless of what title we attach.
