Asians score higher than any other group, so colleges have to handicap them in order not to have a disproportionate minority group.

Being black is worth 230 SAT points, according to the study. Hispanics receive a “bonus” of 185 points. Asian applicants are penalized by 50 points, says Lee. “Do Asians need higher test scores?
