827 There is no stay

This blog for Terri says there is no stay; the media have reported even that incorrectly.

I know you can't answer this Norma, or maybe you can. However, we're on the same side (for once), so maybe you can help me here. How can a country, a people, not believe in abortion or euthanasia ever justify deliberately starving a person to death? Do they see this as God's way? It's utterly beyond my comprehension.

Some of the other Terri bloggers are much better informed, but as I understand it, there is a pro-euthanasia lawyer, pro-euthanasia judge, and of course, a very hostile husband. Many people who think she is in a permanent vegetative state, don't realize she is not comatose and not dying, so therefore they misunderstand the issue and think the husband (guardian) should have the say.

What exactly do we disagree on, Mr. Cloud? I think your photography is wonderful, your wife is beautiful and your daughters brilliant.

Being Canadian, you didn't even vote for Kerry!

I'd link to you, but I'm not sure what category. Writer?

Apparently, she can still experience pain, and starvation is very painful. If her husband doesn't want to be a part of her "living" he can get out.

May I make the point, murrayT, that starvation is not my idea of euthanasia. For God's sake, if you're going to kill her by starvation, kill her quickly, painlessly, and with kindness, for you're killing her nonetheless. To pretend otherwise is to play Pontius Pilate.

I don't know what I am either, Norma. Surely not a writer! Much too pretentious a description for my pathetic drivlings. I am a mere muser, a thinker of tiny little thoughts, one who can't be easily classified. (Or as some say, "one who has no class.")

Mr. Cloud, I can't just keep going to Blogger to look you up, so I'll throw you to the Christians [links category] if you don't want to be a writer or a librarian or a lady (the other choices). I'm thinking of creating a "mature" link for guys like you and Murray but I haven't thought of a category name, maybe

1. Council of the Wise
2. Half century club
3. Laurel resting
4. The brink of fame
5. Not your childrens' blog**

something more imaginative than most references to our age dealing with wrinkles, hair and weight.

I don't know, Norma, but all of your options sound better than any tings i could think up. "Half Century Club" might be my fave.

I take it that Mr T (of I am to be Mr Cloud), is another mature blogger. I'll look him (you) up some time.

Sorry if I misread you Mr T. The notion of starvation being in any way, shape, or form palatable elevates my blood pressure and lowers my percipience, apparently.

Norma, I use a little add-on to check RSS feeds. It tracks the various blogs that I read. They don't have to all be listed on my own blog site for me to do that. If that causes your eyes to glaze over, you might try bloglines. I think the idea is that you just access your favourites on their site, and they tell you whether it's updated or not. Regardless, I find RSS feeds so handy. I can very easily see what blogs have been updated without actually having to visit them. I use Firefox rather Internet Explorer, but there must be add-ons for IE too. It's very simple to work in FF. You click an icon to open a panel where Favorites usually resides and ask it to search your list and see who has updated. I wouldn't want to try to get along without it. Almost all of our sites in Blogger produce these feeds, and most other blog hosts do as well, so it isn't hard. It it were hard, I wouldnt be able to do it. :)

My "nerd" score (see below left) is only 43. But I still prefer visible links (even if they slow down loading a bit). I do get one or two feeds by e-mail, but prefer to go directly to the site and visit with the folks.

Also, being a librarian (in my earlier life), I'm used to directing people to things to read and investigate.

Well, the RSS feed really tells you that the site has been updated and that you should go there. But, yes, it's new and seems a bit arcane.
