Maytag apologies for my corroded dishwasher racks

"Dear Ms Bruce:

Thank you for visiting the Maytag web site. We appreciate hearing from you.

We understand that you are interested in replacing the dishwasher racks.

The part numbers for the dishwasher racks are upper (W10269678) retails for $100.49 and lower part number (W10280784) retails for $143.25.

You may order by contacting Consumer Sales at 1800 442 9991, M-F, 8:00AM to 8:00PM EST.

The warranty for the racks covered Dura Guard nylon racks and the racks for this unit are vinyl.

Thank you for allowing us to assist you today.

You are a valued Maytag customer and we apologize for any inconvenience this concern may have caused."

So 3 months past the "platinum warranty" that cost $89, which apparently covered a different rack and wouldn't have been covered anyway, and all I get is this apology for a product they've known for years was corroding. DO NOT BUY MAYTAG!

Murray sez:
Norma, never, never, never buy an extended warranty on anything. Oh, and this advice is free and contains no fine print.

Actually, this was such a lemon, I think I did use the extended warranty a few times, but the rusting racks sort of sneaked up on me.

I can pick them up when I go to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon next week. I have no idea how I am going to get them on the plane, but the factory is there and I bet I can get them wholesale!

Librarians are so accomodating; but by the time you shipped to Columbus and I hired someone at $50/hour to install, plus $35 for driving here, it might be a bit pricey. I think I'll just let it rot in place and then choose anything but Maytag.

My Maytag appliances are not up to par as my previous brands. Maytag is just not as good as they used to be.

We hardly buy extended warranty because they don't really cover much and you end up paying more than you need to.
