Lakeside in the spring is waiting

For the perch to bite off the dock

and the Sunfish to launch from the shore

for the restaurants to offer specials

and the Methodists to fill the bookstore

Why is it up to the Methodists to fill the book store? Is it a Methodist book store?

The lake is beautiful. Where I grew up in Louisiana, all rivers and lakes are dark, either with silt, or the lakes with tannin from all the cypress trees. I've only seen a few blue/green lakes like this in my life.

Yes, it is a Cokesbury Bookstore, and is only stocked during the "season," and during the Methodist Annual Conference. Lake Erie is quite clear, in part because it has been invaded by zebra mussels from Europe. Lakeside is primarily a summer Chautauqua community
