What are we doing here, a Catholic asks

And all Christians should too.
"The truth is, the first thought that came to my mind [Alfred E. Smith Dinner with McCain and Obama] was a simple one: What are we doing here? If abortion really is what we say it is -- the gruesome murder of unborn children -- do our actions reflect that belief? And if those who support abortion are guilty of facilitating such a horror, how should we respond to them?

If this were 1855, would we be inviting pro-slavery politicians to take a break from a hard fought race, and share a laugh and a meal? As one who finds courage and inspiration in the example of the Radical Republican abolitionists, I just can't imagine it. . .

Maybe it's time we step back and re-evaluate some of our own traditions and habits to make sure they square with what our Faith demands. Should we be honoring or featuring pro-choice politicians (from any political party) at Catholic events? The bishops have spoken out against this as regards the universities, but what about Catholic functions in general? Should we have a common policy? In 2004, neither John Kerry nor George W. Bush were invited to the Alfred Smith dinner, owing to Kerry's support for abortion. That sounds like a fair approach to me.

Obviously, Jesus dined with sinners and publicans -- true. But he didn't give them a platform to preach to the faithful. That's the difference here." Deal W. Hudson
Wagging a finger at other institutions and organizations just got a whole lot harder.

I am a Christian of the Latin Rite, and I neither support McCain or Obama.

McCain does not support nonintervention or the just war theory, so he will continue to put our young into this endless meat grinder. When it comes to pro-life, his record is not perfect; I have some concern about how firm he would support life when making deals with Congress. When it comes to the family he is not a supporter of the family because he has been courted by the homosexual agenda and will help to dissolve the family through civil unions; the camel is getting its nose under the tent.

Obama, well I can’t support him because he militantly supports abortion, and will continue the war in middle east, which means putting our young in the meat grinder, and lastly we know he is in favor of sex education in the elementary classrooms, and will further the homosexual agenda. Besides that he will take our freedoms away because he abhors the Constitution and will tax us into third world status so that we pay some price of our former success.

There is only one candidate that is pro-life, pro-family, noninterventionist, pro-liberty and pro-constitution, and his name is Chuck Baldwin.

Why would any compromise their religious beliefs when they don’t have to?

Vote Baldwin.

I was a Democrat when I watched my Republican friends put Bill Clinton into office with Ross Perot votes. Because of abortion, the Supreme Court, and national security, I voted McCain. However, he was definitely not my first choice; he's just superior on most issues to Obama. Baldwin could walk on water, but this is the USA were our leaders are flawed, not messiahs. He and Paul will only act as springboards to the White House for Obama.

Read the tea leaves, it looks like Obama will be President. Look into the cup, notice how Colin Powell came out in support of Obama? This is the elites signaling to one another that defense will be taken care of and won’t be place into the hands of the immature. Likewise Obama has said that he will keep Gates on for another term if elected. Remember Gates, he’s the guy the elites put in charge of defense because Bush was too out of control. But the biggest indicator lies not in Obama’s campaign, but McCain’s. His campaign is slow fizzling out and just last week the man actually said that we should trust Obama. What does that tell you? It tells me he has lost the fight.

You Republican friends didn’t put Clinton into office. Bush the Elders lie about taxes and Clinton campaign lies were the reason. If you get a chance research the election of 1860 and notice who the third party candidate was.

And don’t worry; McCain will sell out abortion like he sold out freedom and liberty. The man was and is the worst Republican candidate. You are voting the worst candidate for President; how is that logical? I will vote for a man that will bring our young home from the meat grinder republicans are marching them into. You say you are voting life, how can you vote for life yet condemn our young to a meat grinder?

We need a change in this country and if you are too constricted with fear to change then that’s too bad. I will vote based upon my Christian ideals, not out of fear.

Perhaps I voted for the worst Republican, but you are voting for the marxist when you vote 3rd party, regardless of what the badge says.

Norma, please Pastor Chuck Baldwin is far from being a Marxist.

Did you check out the election of 1860 yet?

She's not calling Baldwin a marxist, but the person who most likely will enter the White House by those supporting him. Like the Perot vote put Clinton in.
