Magnets to the rear, please

An Iraqi national with a green card living in the U.S. tries to board a plane with a magnet in his "body cavity" and wires, but he's not a threat?

"The man, identified by law enforcement officials as Fadhel al-Maliki, 35, set off an alarm during passenger screening at the airport early on Tuesday morning.

A police bomb squad was called to examine what was deemed a suspicious item found during a body cavity search of the man. Local media reports said a magnet was found in his rectum." Story.

You do wonder what he was trying to attract other than attention. I wouldn't want him on my plane.

Being a born & bred South African, I am very suspicious of his actions or deeds. It is absolutely incredible what these people have in mind & how they go about terrorising innocent people. No sooner are we rid of one terrorist when 20 others appear. Will this madness ever end??

If you took the word "Iraqi" out of the description most people, me included, would think he was deeply mentally ill. Maybe he is.

A magnet and wires? That's it?

I got $50 on crazy.

My suspicion is that he was trying to see what he could get away with. Hiding items in his rectum, and getting away with it, would let he and whatever group he might work with know what they can and cannot get away with.

Crazy, maybe, but my first thought was that he was testing the airline's defenses for future endeavours.

JAM's explanation sounds a whole lot more sensible than Chuck's. A dry, but messy, run.
