Rebuke your representative

if she tries to vote on a formal House rebuke of Joe Wilson. He has already apologized and the President accepted it. Harry Reid and John Murtha have never apologized to anyone for their outrageous speeches and acts, and they never will.

Funny how differently people view incidents like this.

Back in the early 60's when I was in the Marines and stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. My best friend just happened to be from the Myrtle Beach area. At the time Myrtle Beach was and may still be a great place to have a good time. And since, as young men, having a good time was at the top of our list. We'd drive down there from Camp Lejeune on most weekends. One of the things that's still fresh in my memory after all these years, are the signs we'd see along the way. The signs that identified which amenities were to be used by White people and which ones were to be used by Black People. I had assumed that the attitudes responsible for creating an atmosphere of blatant disrespect for someone because of their color. Had disappeared long ago. But, I'm sorry to say, Rep. Wilson put that assumption to rest.

So while I basically ignored the problem 40+ years ago, I'm not going to any longer. I've sent my first donation to Wilson's opponent Rob Miller.

as have we.

Shows how smart you liberal anonymous people are. Miller's campaign was over a $1 million in debt. You brainiacs only succeeded in paying off what he owed.

Joe Wilson? He's $1 million ahead of the game thanks to you bright bulbs.

Now, forget about the fact that you touchy-feely bags of gastro-intesinal flatulence got your feelings hurt and concentrate on the serious issues at hand.

I noticed the other day that there would be no nasty stuff allowed here. So I'm glad I got to read your post before it gets removed. Bye bye RightRunner.

I have asked my representatives to get on with the real business.
I did that not because I think Joe Wilson's a hero, but because I would abhor this Congress following the example of the Republican Congress who devoted a scandalous amount of time and money to the partisan hounding of President Clinton, which end result was nothing more than censure.

Marfis: I agree with you about the waste of time over the Clinton hearings. And Anon 1, I'm still stunned when political disagreement and truth (Obama was in fact lying) are called racisim because our President is part Kenyan. It's his associates, his beliefs and his politics. Do you dislike and refuse to support black conservatives like Sowell or Blackwell because they are black, or because what they believe? And Anon 3 (who periodically gets dumped for insulting this writer), please go to Rightrunners page and tell him your version of proper blogging manners. It should be a hoot. I also delete advertising, and long boring discourses that belong on someone else's blog. I'm the only one here who is allowed to be boring.

Your blog, Collecting My Thoughts, is a breath of fresh air. Politically conservative librarians are few and far between. You are an inspiration to me.

Thanks for writing!

Thank you, but if I were still employed, I wouldn't have a blog, regardless of the field. Whether liberal, libertarian or conservative, people who work should realize that nothing they twitter, e-mail, listserv, facebook, blog, etc. ever goes away. Your next boss or head of HR may be of the opposite camp. Retirement doesn't pay much, but there are advantages.

This post contains a criticism, so it will probably be just another opportunity for you to hit the delete button, but here goes. I guess I got the erroneous impression that, when you wrote, "If you come here and get nasty or ridiculous, you'll be deleted those rules applied to everyone. But now I see they were only meant for those who disagree with you.

I did go to Mr. Right Runner's blog. Sorry to say, it's not a hoot. Unlike here, where you're at least fair enough to allow someone to post a comment, before you delete it. On his, he screens comments before posting them. While that way of doing things makes for a surefire way of winning every debate. It also guarantees a bland and uninteresting blog. A waste of time, kind of like being trapped in a room with the neighborhood blow-hard.

You can post here if you don't call ME names, denigrate my posts, etc. If you advertise, or use bad words (my call, my blog), I'll toss your entry. You still haven't grasped the concept of blogging have you? You can let your dog poop anywhere but my yard, and take your chances with the city ordinance, but you sure can't track it in here.

Thanks for clearing that up. I've got the concept of blogging down OK, it's just that the rules vary greatly from blog to blog. Now that I know the limits, I promise, I'll never call you a name. But it's nice to know I can still, if I wish, come on here and and refer to other people as "touchy-feely bags of gastro-intesinal flatulence" and suffer no repercussions.

Good. You're catching on. I appreciate creativeness, but never never call the hostess names or question her truthfulness. Oh, I also delete sexual innuendoes, swearing, and suspicious lurkers.
