Thirteen Things I've been Wondering about This Week

This is the season of wonder, so I've been wondering, in no particular order, while you've all been fighting the crowds at the mall:

1) Have Catholics advanced spiritually more with the vernacular rather than the unifying language of Latin?

2) Do Lutherans, Methodists and Presbyterians have a better grasp of the gospel with loud rock music?

3) If every household now has 2 or 3 fuel efficient cars, are we really better off, environmentally speaking, than when we had one gas hog that could hold six people comfortably?

4) Has bussing children for 45-60 minutes to and from school ever improved the quality of education or even built friendships and understanding among the races and income groups?

5) How many lawyers will get rich from restaurant operators (passing the costs on to us) trying to figure out compliance with Ohio's new minimum wage law (now part of our constitution) and the anti-smoking bans?

6) What do little children strapped into safety seats in automobiles think about or learn listening to mommy chatter on the cell phone while ignoring them?

7) Do restaurant employees really "lávase las manos" before leaving the restroom?

8) Do baseball caps on guys really hide thinning hair, or do they increase the fallout and make it difficult to give their wives a kiss?

9) Will Nicole Kidman change Keith Urban's drinking behavior or has she made another bad marriage?

10) Will the visual quality and intellectual content of YouTube be a passing fad?

11) Do gun enthusiasts, hunters and collectors really need assault weapons?

12) Did George Clooney really share his bed with Max his 300 lb. pet pig and could this be the real reason he's not married?

13) Does sloppy, loose clothing hide weight gain or does it visually add pounds?

Very thought provoking list. Now I have a few questions of my own and I may ponder the George Clooney one for a while. A 300 pound pig? Nasty:(

Sadly, I suspect YouTube is just the beginning. :)

Good questions!

Loose clothes on overweight body makes it worse. I think clothes which fit just right is the key.

Same thing with too-tight outfit on a slim body. Makes it looks fat.

Interesting list! I don't know about #5 in Ohio, but in many places in Canada that I've lived, there have been bans on smoking in public places for many years now, and aside from one or two well-publicized lawsuits, things proceeded rather smoothly. As for minimum wage, again, that's something we've had for a long time, with no major problems.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good day!

Interesting, very interesting. You got me thinking... but that's a good thing.
My TT is about methods of divination.

The issue in Ohio is the wording--makes it very hard to comply--lots of paper work. The smoking also includes truck drivers inside their company owned cabs--even if just driving through the state.

I'm wondering about this George and Max thing aswell!!!

I often wonder if the waitress washed her hands carefully after going to the bathroom...but then they have to open the door which has been touched who knows how many times by dirty hands....bad thoughts!
I don't think love can change drinking habits, but I hope for Nicole K she has a happy marriage now, she deserves it after being married to TC!
I don't know about the Ohio issue and hadn't heard about Clooney's pig, but that explains a few things, I guess...
You have been wondering about interesting things, Norma...!!!
happy TT!!

Great questions! Happy TT:)

good questions. Enquiring minds want to know!

ever so thought provoking...makes me think..hmmnb, here's my 2 cents on #6, I'm a culprit sometimes at this...I can see when my little one starts re-enacting the car and phone talk. Kids have big ears for sure so we should have big ears to listen to them too and the time in the car is a time well spent together.

Great idea for a TT! You got me thinking...

#12 made me think. LOL!

#13 - since I'm a size 18/20, I'd dread the day that I'll be seen wearing those loose clothes. I feel uncomfortable and I feel that I'm bigger if I wear them.

This was another thought-provoking TT from you this week! Thanks!

Happy Thursday!

This is a great 13 list! The catholic religion is more modernized than it was before, and some of the churches worship Christ too. I know some of the churches in Hawaii does, cause my aunt belong to the catholic religion.
I do not like those fuel efficient cars, they're too small.

Thanks for stopping by.

#3-Yes, because most people dont know 5 other people that they would be carpooling with. In our house its just the 2 of us and we go opposite directions.

#8-Depends on how much has already been lost.

#11-Unless your in the military, you don't need an assault weapon. Unless Bambi has an Uzi too.

Good questions. I wish I had some answers for you. Just a few personal thoughts instead.

I'm not Catholic, but I never understood the hullabaloo over English vs. Latin. Tradition can be cool, but unless you speak fluent Latin, what's the point? You aren't learning a thing.

But what do I know, I've gone to holy roller churches since I was 19. I know I'm gonna have some fun praise and worship when I walk into a church and see a drum set and electric guitar. But that's just me, I like a really rowdy worship service with dancing, clapping, and so forth. Plus the music isn't to cause you to understand the Gospel any better, it's to focus us on praising God.

I hope things work out for Nicole and Keith. They both seem like good people. I hope he gets a handle on his problems.

About George Clooney and the pig, I hate that he lost his pet, that can truly be heart breaking. But it sure does paint funny mental images to think about him sleeping with the piggy.

I saw Keith Urban in concert about five years ago before he got real famous. I got to meet him too and I have to say that he was one of the nicest people I've ever met. He told me loved my name, Grace. I've loved him ever since. :) I hope their marriage works out and they keep their vows. It's not something to take lightly.

Interesting list. Your thought are far deeper than my own, which doesn't bode well for me. :)

I have been wondering about the pig though. I wonder if he got jealous when ladies were over taking his spot?

Happy TT!

What a funny and thought-provoking list.

One of my pet peeves has always been #7. I always thought if a restaurant worker needed a sign to remind him that he needed to wash his hands...he probably shouldn't be working there in the first place. However, I also know from previous experience that some states actually consider it a violation to not display that silly little sign in the restrooms. *sigh*

May God bless you richly, Norma. I love your blogs...and your capacity for original thoughts.

When you do found out some answers to these profound questions, please make sure to let me know.

Fuel effecient cars are not so efficient with one's pocketbook.

As always, good contemplations to contemplate.

Also, as always, when I starting thinking about my faults as a mom, you remind me of my strengths... I never talk on a cell phone when I have kids to talk to or sing with! (I don't use a cell phone driving very much at all, either.)

I got the "code" for TT and I've posted my first one. It's a little too regional/personal, but I was inspired.

Very thought provoking. Especially number 6. I live in an area where the majority of the women are SAHMs, you can't pass one one the street that is not talking on the phone.

Happy TT!

Things that make you go hmmmm. I just read an article about #8 and how the hair/cap may not be causal but just related.

And I think the answers to #12 are yes and yes but only becuse George is a pig himself.

My Thursday Thirteen #22 Hat Tip Edition is up. Stop by if you get a chance.

You have some good questions. I had heard something about George Clooney and a pig. Strange, strange! You and I were definitely on the same wavelength with our T13 this week. Thanks for visiting mine!

Wow...these were great, Norma. And now you have ME wondering...lol
About the cell phones and mommies...I can remember driving with my kids when they were little and we either sang or told stories. At the very least, we interacted. Something you don't see much of today.
The baseball caps...what really drives me nuts is they wear them in restaurants, for goodness sake! I was raised that a hat was removed when you sat down to eat. Be it a baseball cap or a top hat!
And ditto on the guns. Great stuff to think about here and thanks for popping by my blog.
