Where were they then--before the bailout?

All the people who went to the elite schools, who had the law degrees, MBAs, PhDs, who peopled the econ and finance faculties at left and liberal institutions like Harvard and Yale, Columbia and Darmouth, and who had years on the banking and finance committees in Congress, who knew several languages, had passports and travelled, wore the right clothes and drank the expensive wines, who knew all the beltway gossip and sent their children to private schools. Where are they? Where were they? When all this stuff was coming down over a year ago. And they didn't notice? Or told their staff to check on it because they were too busy running for a bigger job. You know--the folks who make fun of the lack of sophistication and experience of say, a Sarah Palin.
December 16, 2007, Financial Times: "A plethora of opaque institutions and vehicles have sprung up in American and European markets this decade, and they have come to play an important role in providing credit across the financial system. Until the summer, structured investment vehicles (SIVs) and collateralised debt obligations (CDOs) attracted little attention outside specialist financial circles. Though often affiliated to major banks, they were not always fully recognised on balance sheets. These institutions, moreover, have never been part of the “official” banking system: they are unable, for example, to participate in Monday’s Fed auction.

But as the credit crisis enters its fifth month, it has become clear that one of the key causes of the turmoil is that parts of this hidden world are imploding. This in turn is creating huge instability for “real” banks – not least because regulators and bankers alike have been badly wrong-footed by the degree to which the two are entwined."
Or, as a blogger I've never heard of before wrote today: "The very dipsticks who gave you this crisis now promise to solve it for you. I told you: this is not an economic crisis anymore, it’s a full-blown political emergency, and they’re all trying to hang on to "power". They can’t, so prepare for the sound of goose-stepping boots in your streets." Automatic Earth

oohh.. I know where Sarah was. She was busy abusing her office as Governor in order to pursue a personal vendetta while using an Yahoo email account to do public business in the hopes of avoiding having to make public business available under public-records laws. What is she hiding?

Some reformer ya got there. Yep, she sure has shown lots-o-character. Whats her plan, try and get Todd a job in the NSA so that he can spy on all of their enemies?

Obviously, Real Lefty, you didn't read the conclusions of the report which exonerates her, even by the obama led crowd who investigated her.

"I find that, although Walt Monegan's refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety. In spite of that, Governor Palin's firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads."

I know it's difficult for the left to grasp the idea of constitutional and statutory authority, but some officials do abide by this old, traditional way of doing things. That's about to be lost under President B.O.

Nor did you read my any words of my entry except "Sarah Palin" which sends the left into spasms of hate.

LOL.. and, again, you left out part of the story. The firing was legal, allowing her husband to use her office to pursue the personal vendetta is a problem. AND.. Monegan was fired, in part, because he refused to fire Wooten. Maybe not illegal, but certainly shows bad judgment and a certain lack of ethical behavior.

When you say "spasms of hate" do you reflect upon your, ummm... , well, reaction to most things Obama?

If you want to see spasms of hate, take a look at what is going on at McCain/Palin campaign stops.

You mean the planted protestors?

I don't hate Obama--just don't want a marxist as president.

The Team Obama couldn't find any illegal behavior on Palin's part and you guys are just beside yourself trying to bury that detail.

What about unethical and inappropriate behavior Norma? She still may have violated Alaska law, by the way. Letting her husband use her office to pursue the personal vendetta was probably illegal, but we'll see. Perhaps the Alaska legislature will simply decide it's not worth the time or effort.

The only outside interference I've heard of came from the McCain campaign folks who tried to derail the investigation.

Riiight.. the planted protestors. Why? Republicans and Conservatives can't be hateful people?

Obama is a Marxist? Evidently you've repeated that mantra to yourself long enough to believe it? I'm guessing that you've never read Marx, or actually sat down and studied his philosophy. If you had, you wouldn't be calling him a Marxist. But then, it's not important to actually know if he is one or not, it's just good to pin the label on him. Appearance is everything, and the truth needs to take a backseat to ideology.
